John Leto good to hear thanks. Check the underside of your floor to see how out of flat it is. Also check the welded in portion of your trans tunnel to make sure it's flat and not way out of level like mine was.
BuildingTheEXOCET I will. I have a race chassis with the welded in steel floors so I think they’re good.Quick question. Are you powder coating the bulkheads as well?
John Leto well it's the floor frame rails that are out of alignment on mine and every other one I've seen pictures of. Mine were around 1/2" off. But to answer your question no I am not powder coating the bulkheads or floors. I am going to use undercoating on all the undersides then hit the top side with some thin carpet. The undercoating will hopefully absorb some of the rock noise
I do realize this is not a structural panel, but they do make countersunk washers that will offer the benefits of using a waster with a countersunk screw. You may want to consider looking into some to put under the heads... They make them in a number of styles and finishes. I think it may also help hold your carpet in place to the panel as well.. Not criticizing by any means.. Looks great! Please keep the updates coming !
A head shape called "truss" is a low profile head similar to a pan head. I don't think that they are available with a hex drive. With a head diameter of 11mm and a head height of 3mm the heads would be inadvisable under carpet
Not looking to hide the head under carpet as I don't want to have to remove the carpet to remove the panel. These heads will help hole down the carpet and will be flush with the top of the carpet
What did you end up doing for the inner corner of the rear bulkhead? I used rivnuts everywhere except for those 2. Was thinking of just using m5 self tapping screws.
Honestly I can't remember but I am not sure of exactly where you are talking about. The rears I remember using rivnuts everywhere. All my panels are removable so I know I used rivnuts on those
@@BuildingTheEXOCETThanks for the reply. Just the 2 in the corner for which there is no way to use a rivnut gun. I was going to try the nut and bolt technique to fit into the inside lower corner. However I am using stainless steel rivnuts which I find require a fair amount of force to set properly.
Was waiting for this. Always on point. Real stuff , no fluff. Always grateful.
gt3m3 gt3m3 thanks buddy. I keep it to the point, or try to at least....
My chassis just arrived. Glad you’re a few weeks ahead of me. These video are sooo helpful 👍
