That Namor storyline was written very well and rewarding at the end. I know a lot of people didn't like it, preferring the Kilmonger arc, but I really liked it. It created room for incredible world building without the need for a Thanos level super-villain.
Tenoch Huerta's vibes are like the same vibes of the "favorite uncle" at the family gathering. You expect to be bored, and then he pulls up and you know you'll be entertained for however long you have to be there LOL
He dances like an uncle too. I've seen two videos of him dancing with Lupita (and one with Mabel), and he dances like an uncle with rhythm. It's very cute/endearing.
They had such great chemistry on screen! When he gave her what he gave her I thought he was courting her. Also, he looks absolutely amazing in those shorts!
Pls i wanted them to have a political engagement or something like that to avoid the war until they actually fell for each other, they had such a good connection in their first scene together
Thankfully in Tenoch's case, Namor does have an all-black suit he occasionally wears in the comics. So, in future films he won't be stuck wearing shorts all the time.

I loved how Shuri's emotional journey was done here. It was very well written. Not like some other female characters done wrong in this phase. That was my fear going into this movie and I wasnt disappointed! Namor and Talocan was awsome. And Angela Basette damn! riri was the weakest part for me tho.
I mean…the film showcased how everyone grieves differently. We just had more insight on how it was for Shuri because she was the main focus(which i fucking love.) Some people seek comfort spiritually/within their faith because they don’t want to be alone in their pain, others stick to what they know and put their focus on tangible things and some escape in more destructive ways. Grieving is never black and white. The only reason, i imagine, that you felt other female characters emotional journey’s were written badly is because the focus wasn’t on them so we couldn’t see them in depth but i still understood where they were coming from. Also, in my opinion, this film would’ve just been bleak if it hadn’t been for Riri’s character - the audience erupted in laughter whenever she said or did anything. She was fucking phenomenal 👏🏼.

Which is so interesting-it immediately raises questions like: did Tenoch improv that line or ask the writers to put it in after hearing it in his everyday life? Did the movie have cultural advisers on set? But instead of exploring this further, the interview cuts to asking about whether they could get away with taking jewelry home from set😬🤨🤔 That was not a throwaway bit of the interview. That was valuable. Our stories are valuable. Please be mindful about your interviews in the future BBC; this is a major cultural moment for so many groups across the world at this point. This deserves to be treated with thoughtfulness and care.

Normally I’m slightly opposed to when a characters race/gender/sexuality is changed unless it’s done right(usually it’s never creative), but this movie ACTUALLY did it right. Obviously Namor was a white guy in the comics, but the inclusion and the story of the Meso-American people and how they got into the water was very well done. Namor was Atlantean, he just looked white. He technically never had an actual race. Atlanteans don’t exist & if they did they would’ve looked closer to the animated film because Atlantis has been theorize to exist where the Sahara was. But because Atlantis was a Greek creation to begin with, they centralized THEIR perception of them as Caucasian thus media has this idea that Atlanteans are white people
