Saved by the bell has nothing to do with sports. Back in the day people being buried alive was common...so to remedy that ...people were buried with strings attached to their toes or fingers which led above ground and was attached to a bell. Cemetery groundskeepers were responsible for listening for bells ringing in the cemetery and digging folks out...hence being saved by the bell.
This is Vinny's other great rant from watching Nitro. The best is still him losing his mind over a countout finish in a falls count anywhere match that happened in November of 1999
@@MTLoveridge It was a cascade of mistakes, one after the other, with no long-term plan to justify the decisions made. WWF/E made mistakes as well, but they had a good method of justifying it with great payoffs (Austin winning WM14, Mankind winning the world title, Cactus Jack vs HHH, etc). Whatever the situation was, in the majority of cases, the Fed had better outcomes than WCW. Nitro is a hotbed of squandered talent in hindsight.

This Flair storyline was the one that finally broke me. I’d peek in from time to time but I was done as a regular viewer.
keep goin with the 1999 - 2000 stuff!! i love it!

Once wcw changed the logo, it was the beginning of the end
I mean general consensus was screwing up the finish of Starrcade 97 and refusing to pull the plug on the NWO but hey.
That was the many beginnings of the end. Which include the finger poke of doom and the Goldberg heel turn.
