Absolutely not a problem. I use various methods for my ruffles but the one I use the most to not get burned out but still have a good amount of ruffles is:
Round 1: 3 double crochet in each stitch
Round 2: 2 double crochet in each stitch
Round 3: 2 double crochet in each stitch
