I think this one's my favorite. Lost my mind when I realized it was the outro of Pink Lunettes.
Reminds me of Burnt out star bringing back the chorus from Tasmania.
so. good.
And the main riff to Paint Me Silver is actually a slower tempo version the same riff to a song called Cosmic Comvoy by Todd Rundgren and Utopia 1976.... the Disco Jets album, was initially made as a statement from Todd to the record company saying "look, it's not because we can't do a disco album like you would love to see is do... it's just that we don't want to do that just yet... but here's a demo midterm to prove that we can..."
It was never taken seriously and sat inside a vault from 1976 to around 2010 when Todd decided to remaster it and release it. Its definitely one of my favorite things Todd has done
@@jackmomma7481what a random but sick fact
Was I born too late for the golden days of my nanny state, we never cried on my side of the generational divide.
That line is brilliant. Seriously I'm in awe of how great it sounds. A lot of instances on this album Nick has AMAZING lyrical rhythm. This is just one example. Noteworthy on this song as well "and if you don't see the problem with that man, then honestly your poetry's no good to me"
Nick's lyrics on this album are astounding. They have been for a while now, but they really shine on this album. I'd say he's easily among the top lyricists in the game right now.
Already one of my all-time favorites by them. It's just so...*chef's kiss*
Don't chef's know that every time they do that they're committing an act of cross-contamination? It drives the health inspector CRAZY every time!!! 😄
The most powerfull song in the album without underestimate the other ones of course!
Top 3 song on 9
3:05
Really hope the next album goes into this direction a bit, with the happy ascending feeling but with some weirdness mixed in too.
Psych Avant Pop Album, anyone?
Looks like it did!
DON'T PUSH IT... DON'T PUSH IT..... or pond will give you a SONG you won't be-LIEEEVE!!! LET IT GO..... LET IT GO...
Jump they say!! I really love love love this groove!!!Great song guys❤
huuuge tune
LYRICS:
[Nick Allbrook]
If you're a poet
Then I'm happy as a fraud
But you really know it
You're so well-informed
But your ancient precedent has got me so damn bored
I'm happy to be basic
Right now that's all I can afford
And she said,
"I don't know about you but, Europe has a long artistic legacy
And if you can't see the problem with that then
Then honestly your poetry's no good to me"
[Nick Allbrook]
I
Should run and
Hide
Or die in the generational divide
[Nick Allbrook]
I never read Rambo
I'm terrified of guns
And if ignorance is sexy
Then I gotta run
Run, run
Was I born too late
For the golden days of my nanny state?
We never cried
On my side of the generational divide
[Nick Allbrook]
I
Should run and
Hide
Or die in the generational divide
I don't know why
We never
Cried
On my side of the generational divide
[Nick Allbrook]
I
Should run and
Hide
Or die in the generational divide
I don't know why
We never
Cried
On my side of the generational divide
[Jay Watson & Shiny Joe Ryan]
Looking up, I thought I had a friend
Praying that the moment wouldn't end then
Somebody is laughing with me, right?
Counting down the moments till my hair turns white

Yeah, yeah, yeah, oooh
Thank you
excellent.
holy goodness... love this track.
Unbelievable song
This is it. This album is the raw soul that they have been somewhat suppressing for the last few albums
Last few were still good
@@twistyturtlefish7916 yeah they're good too
I dunno if I'd exactly say that they've been suppressing any soul; the last two albums were still excellent, especially The Weather. But I do think they've definitely refined and perfected the overall sound they've been delving into for the last five years or so on this one while still switching things up a bit and managing to stay fresh.
3:31
1:10 and if you can't see the problem with batman
xd
It's actually "that then". Someone who interviewed Nick right before the album's release quoted that line with "Batman" in it, but the lyric sheet that comes with the album has it printed as "that".
I feel like it speaks of the same people as the people who wanted to be ''Common People''
'But your ancient precedent has got me so damn bored
I'm happy to be basic
Right now that's all I can afford
"You'll never live like common people
You'll never do whatever common people do
You'll never fail like common people
You'll never watch your life slide out of view
And then dance, and drink, and screw
Because there's nothing else to do"
@@LanceVanceDance84 Such good lyrics. Yeah it's the same pretentious twats lol. Elitism and fetishism of some low class fairytale because they're so swamped in priviledge they don't know what to do with themselves. But when shit gets real, they'll revert to their elitist colonial bullshit (Europe has a long artistic legacy).
sounds like mark ronson music
