Im in the same path as you sir. I love nurses that touch your heart. I was actually named after a nurse do to her taking care of my mom so well. Love being there for people. In MN its a long process. Have to get CNA-LPN-RN/ADN- RN/BSN
im barely a home health aide. I have a long way to go but I cant wait until the day where I can finally say I did it.

next year I'll be doing half day normal school and half day in a school to receive a nurse assistant certification .
Which after I graduate high school I'll be going to school to get a BSN.

I am about to enter my senior year of high school, my past years were very bad. I got sent to continuation school for my junior year so I can catch up on my credits, from there I realized that if I dont get myself together I will not succeed in life. I decided to put more effort in my education, and I ended up doing very well at continuation school and I am going to be transferred back to regular high school. I want to become a nurse but I'm not sure if my past will come to haunt me, is there hope? If there is a possibility, what are some steps I should take to achieve my goal. Thank you for your time :)

Hey @brytona1, We've asked a few of our nurse friends if they can respond to your question, hopefully they will log on and answer you directly with some of their knowledge. In the meantime, have you seen Nurse Lada's videos? If not check out this one for sure--- th-cam.com/video/gyA4_LoNwes/w-d-xo.html "How I went from struggling teen mom /high school drop out to Family Nurse Practitioner."

A nurse friend just wrote back...
"There's always hope to do anything in your in life, you just have to decide to try. To be a nurse you have to have genuine care and concern for others. I treat my patients like I would want someone to treat my own family. There are several routes you can take to get into nursing. Check at the community college levels that have nursing schools to see what prerequisites you need to take. Check at the 4 year college level nursing schools to see what prerequisites you would need. If you are in California go to rn.ca.gov/. They have a list all of the RN programs in the state the are approved schools. Get your nursing assistant license if it will get you more points. You can do that thru ROP. Having your NURSING Assistant license will help you get a job inside the hospital, nursing home, or home health care. When you finish your RN You can apply for a position change at your job. If your in a different state just check their registered nursing websites. If you have been in trouble for drugs or alcohol it's ok. Just go thru nursing school finish and then apply for an Expungement you can apply for your license. If it's been along time since you got in trouble and you show you're responsible they usually grant it." (ob)

I would also like to add for anyone else out there, you can find schools that only require a passing TEAS test to be eligible. The TEAS test has basic math, language, comprehension, and science. Coming straight out of high school you may be able to pass right away, but I would just brush up on math and science. Be sure to know about the heart, the different parts and how the blood flows through it. I was able to pass and score high enough to get into an RN program (skipping LPN) with no background in college.
Keeps your options open and look at different schools. Also read reviews and make sure the school you are going to has a history of high pass rates and reviews of helpful instructors. (Not all instructors are going to be as friendly or as hands-on as others).
And don't ever think that you can't do something. Put in the work and you will be surprised at what you're able to accomplish.
      Best of luck!

If I move to the RN field, can I grow my beard out a little, or is this a no-go zone?

Sɛℓɛиɛ 〜月光の薔薇姫君〜 We didn't mean for it to be scary! It's the end of the music track this is playing as sound track throughout the video. Did you like the video otherwise? Are you thinking about becoming a nurse? (ob)
