I've noticed this a lot too. Drivers are not signaling, not looking back at the blind sides, not safely and slowly merging into bike lane before making that turn. They're just abruptly turning from the car lane without noticing me at the blind side. It's dangerous as hell. That's why if I ever have a car right next to me going same pace, I just slow the heck down cuz I get the feeling they just don't notice me there.
I read a study several years ago that motor/cyclists are invisible in the subconscious of the driver. I ride defensively and try to anticipate everything. I've experienced pretty much all that you mentioned and just let it go. I was told once to treat all drivers as . Guess I've been riding too long to let all this bother me.
Hi Mark I live in a city that’s 4 miles x 4 miles in size with a population of 80,000 people yes 80,000 . You ride with your head on swivel and a death grip on your break levers . Like you always say , what applies to you or other riders may not work for someone else. Riding in traffic where I live is not advised.
I do not generally bike in the bike lanes near my house. The main ones I go on are 25 and 35 mph roads, and I’m going those speeds on my electric unicycle. The bike lane is not safe at 30+ mph (debris, car doorings, etc.), and I’m going traffic speeds anyway. I have had people pass me, however, even though for all intents and purposes I’m a car or motorcycle controlling the lane. I get very mad being close passed at 34 mph on the main 25 mph road through my neighborhood. There’s very little sharing of the road going on, anything that isn’t a car is fair game to be passed to them, even on a double yellow and the vehicle being passed is meeting or exceeding the speed limit. People want to go 60 mph on that 25 mph road.

I understand what you mean.

There should be no reason for any vehicles to pass you if you are goin g road speed limits.
Answer is yes. Why ask ?
Because some don't show it.
Most drivers around here: Hell NO!
I hear ya.
honestly these "ebikes" are looking more like just regular bikes so much the fact they have pedals on the side just looks stupid
lol
