this is amazing, i signed up yesterday and used it last night. How can we connect with Kevin for some feedback? I have a particular way of approaching my notes and i am a bit unsure how i can duplicate that way in this software.

Kevin has been absolutely amazing with all my requests - and you're right, note taking is a bit of an art and we all have our individual needs.
Best way to discuss all things DigitalTCO is on www.protrusive.app
On there you can DM Kevin or on the relevant article we will also be discussing our workflows
Remember that as part of this deal he really DOES want feedback and to crack the code note just for me but for all dental professionals!

@@protrusivehi Jazz, where exactly in the app are we messaging Kevin. There are so many things on the app and I rarely use social media so it’s a bit mind boggling for me.

My questions to Jaz revolve aroung the regulation of dentists in the UK by the GDC. They require all notes to be contemporaneous and define that as being made whilst the patient is in the chair. You admit to taking them well after the patient has left. Good luck defending that attitude. The notes should be made by the dentist, although of course the notes can be dictated by a nurse. However, the notes will then still be the responsibility of the dentist. You would not enjoy a GDC FtP case if the accusation is in-accurate note taking because the dentist's notes where modified by AI and certainly the use of any pre filled templates will not bode well for the dentist. I would suggest all dentists check with their Indemnity Providers that these software note enhancements can be defended in a GDC "court"

Dear David, thanks for your comment.
The whole thing about writing notes and catching up, whilst not ideal, is the reality of the modern dentist - especially if working with very short appointment times. I do not condone this behaviour as notes SHOULD be contemporaneous - which is exactly why I have been relentlessly testing products to find a solution to help Dentists.
Templates are not the perfect solution - which is why I have been pouring time in to 'Jaz Mode' - this relies purely on the real-time conversation and only segmented in to headings with the help of Templates.
I feel very safe using the combination of Dental Audio Notes (endorsed by MPS) and DigitalTCO. My notes are better than ever and now I am not having to play catch up.
I mean this with respect but with your username being 'Ex Dentist' I fear you may have lost touch with the plight of the modern Dentist and the regulatory burden we feel with record keeping.
      Regards, Jaz

I also want to echo what you said that the notes are the responsibility of the Dentist - whether your nurse writes them or AI helps you. One should never rely on either the nurse or AI.

@@protrusive Well Jaz. how "agist". I would counter that as a young dentist you have less experience keeping records than an "ex" that worked with paper and biro. And you wouldnt listen to Kevin Lewis who is also an "Ex"? Horses for courses. Sadly, I had two FtP cases that only disappered because my record keeping was good enough; until you have had your collar felt by the GDC, you cannot know how devious they will be. And as I was a designer for Trident, heavily involved in Medidata, lead designer for TMS Arthur Windows, into Practiceworks R4 and Kodak and Carestream I can assure you I do understand the needs to protect yourselves from litigation and that my comments about the use of AI will definately be tested by the GDC. Even Raj Rattan was persued for Vicarious Liabilty. Dont you think this is why Portman Dental have purchased the controlling interest in a Software company? Corporate responsibility after the Fujitsu Post Office debacle will lead to software being under the microscope. I personally am passionate about the Dentist/software interface and making good records and applaud anything that can help any tiime strapped clinician but my advice to all dentists is to not rely on fancy software, use them as an aid but take full control of your own records. Good luck to all.

@davidsawyer1526 appreciate your reply. Firstly, please be assured there was no Agism - Ex dentist simply means one who is not practising - I know colleagues in their 30s who no longer practise. As you explained I think your experience and background is amazing and I appreciate your comment to highlight the importance of being safe.
I had a chat with Kevin and he had this to add:
I understand the importance of ensuring that any new tool used within a dental practice adheres to the high standards set by regulatory bodies.
DigitalTCO essentially functions as a voice-to-text system, designed to streamline the process of writing patient notes. This approach is no different in principle than typing out notes manually, but offers the added efficiency of using natural speech.
Regarding confidentiality and privacy, DigitalTCO is built with the utmost concern for security. We maintain GDPR and HIPAA compliance, ensuring that all data is handled with the highest level of care and security. As with any patient documentation process, we recommend excluding any direct patient identifiers from the notes if there is any concern. This aligns with best practices for patient data protection.
It's important to note that the GDC focuses on the content and quality of patient notes rather than the specific method used to create them. Their primary concern is that notes are neither excessively lengthy nor inadequately brief, but rather accurately reflect the care and treatment provided. The system is designed to help you achieve exactly that - comprehensive and accurate records of patient care without the need for extensive manual input.
In summary, using our voice-to-text system for note writing is a modern approach that aligns well with the GDC’s standards, provided the notes are complete, accurate, and protect patient confidentiality. It's about enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of your documentation process, ensuring that you can focus more on patient care rather than paperwork.
If you have any further questions or need more detailed information, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
And once again Ex Dentist I appreciate your debate.

@davidsawyer1526 yes! and, i do not recommend you rely on the fancy software and absolve yourself of all responsibility (although it is rather fancy). Actually, that was never suggested!
What is suggested is to leverage new technologies to make your life easier. I'm sure some people would have been a bit bothered when the model T took over the horse and cart, but such is life!
