First time I heard this I was shocked. I thought no one could sing this as good as Elvis but I was wrong. One of my favorite songs from Tim.

Elvis' version of this song has always been my favorite...until I heard Tim's version. And as you said, it will never get any better than this. NEVER. What can you say about Tim's voice and range that hasn't already been said, anyway? He's simply The. Best. Bass. Singer. On. The. Planet. Love your reactions, guys, as always!
The Elvis movie version still rules. However, Tim is very good don't go Home Fries crazy on me but i feel the same about Elvis.

Pretty amazing, huh? Tim once explained how they make their arrangements. First he plays it on the piano (from others arrangers or the ones he writes himself), and from there they figure out the cords for a cappella. After all the guys have laid their parts down in the studio, Adam Rupp then hits play and freestyles what the Beatbox should sound like until he gets what he likes. Pretty interesting process. Also, all the guys play instruments (except maybe Rob. I can’t remember if Rob does). If you watch their live performances you will see, Tim especially, play an air piano. He’s constantly hitting cords with his free hand.
Also, pretty neat how both Tim and Austin, deep south boys, can lay on the southern accent or completely cut it out depending on the song. Obviously with Home Free most of the time they lay it on because it’s supposed to be country, but others songs like this one, you would never know! Adam Chance is also from the deep south, but I don’t notice the drawl from him as much.
Anyhoo. I’ve gone on long enough! 🙂. Still waiting for “I Can’t Outrun You”.
Melissa Otto Most are multi-instrumentalists, Rob plays saxaphone & ?, Austin plays piano & ?, Tim plays piano, guitar & ?, Chance plays guitar, piano & ?, Adam plays trumpet, bass, guitar, piano/keys, some drums & ?
They all really got heavily into music in high school, went to college/university for music, except Tim went for dentistry (as a "stable" choice, since the music biz is not easy)..
After 2 1/2 years, music called him back & he worked w/many a cappella groups, traveled the world w/some, wrote originals for some of their cds (like for "Blue Jupiter & "Ball In The House"), worked for a Calif. songwriting production co, did solo work (his UTube Chl), etc!..All uber-talented!!

A bit confusing. A capella is singing unaccompanied, no instruments and thus no chords, unless you're talking about group rather than solo singing.
@@annemayseyfried8907 The drummer for Queen, Roger, was in dentistry too! Infancy, all of them attended college. The bass player was an electrical engineer. Freddy Mercury studied art & design. Lead guitarist, Brian May, is DR. May - he's an Astrophysicist & helped measure the distance across the Milky Way galaxy & to other space objects! He still works w/NASA at times. Music, math & science seems to go together. 🤗
Tim has a solo album called *The Best That I Could Do* and I think this was one of the bonus tracks on it. The other bonus track was *The Land Of The Free* (if I'm not mistaken). I don't remember if there were other bonuses, but unfortunately, this bonus version of the album is not available anymore (as far as I know), and it's not on Spotify, either. However, even the version without the bonuses is worth listening to because imo, it's a great country album, and what makes it even more impressive is the fact that Tim wrote or co-wrote all but one song on that album, recorded all the vocal parts himself and played the piano parts himself as well.
Btw, Tim sings the way he sings with HF because it fits their style. It's neither a limitation of his voice, nor of him as a vocalist although the people who only know Tim through HF usually think so. I think most people know that Tim has a huge vocal range, but what I think a lot of people seem to miss on is how balanced and beautiful his tone is throughout his whole vocal range and how amazingly well he controls his voice, no matter what register he's using. In my book, that's what makes his voice and range truly impressive. Jeremy Michael Lewis from acoUstiKats (an a cappella group that competed against Home Free on Season 4 of the Sing-Off) wrote about Tim: "If anyone out there is wondering, Tim is not a bass. Tim is also not a baritone or a tenor. Tim is a gift from God himself to bless the world with his own category. Let it be known: Mr. Foust can drop bombs that will blow any cannon out of the water, and he looks great doing it too. The only thing more sizable than Tim’s talent is the humility in his response to Jewel’s inquiry." The more I know about Tim, the more I agree with this quote. I definitely consider him to be one of the most talented, skilled and versatile vocalists I've had the pleasure to listen to.

Prior to joining Home Free, Tim Foust had a solo project. (He’s working on one now as well, but progress is slow.) Tim released an EP that is out of print (The Way the Story Goes) on which was this song. Still in print is his CD, The Best that I Can Do, featuring original songs & his performance on keyboards. You can still find his version of this song on his SoundCloud.
Prior to that he was in a group called Blue Jupiter.
He's from my home town so I got to see him with them.

You're lucky. They've also Reacted to Haley Reinhart's version of this song. It's the one that was on the Extra Gum advert, and went viral. It is a very fine version as well - needless to say if Haley is singing it.
I love watching your faces when he started to hit that high registar.. Priceless! You guys did a great job singing along, too. I have his solo album from before he joined Home Free, and I love it every song on there. He plays the piano on this one, as well as most of the others on his solo album. And most of the songs on his solo album was written by Tim, also. Thanks guys!

I commented earlier but wanted to add. Everyone has their preference of who sings this song. Elvis basically set the standard. Not to long ago Pentatonix did their rendition which was beautiful. I've heard other singers cover this song too. When I came across Tim's version though it was in my opinion breathtaking. His version is what I'd love to have played at my wedding.

Thank You! This is my favorite version of this song. As far as I know this song is not available for purchase anywhere...Sad but true! The first posting i saw to TH-cam was at least 8 years ago. Long before Tim joined Home Free. It would make an incredible solo venture for Sir Tim! I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I know you don't want to react to audio only, but give a listen to "A Thousand Times" it's a single off his original solo album "The Best That I Could Do". @WizardPandora: It doesn't show there for me. I was told it was only on a Deluxe version (or something like that) as a bonus track... There were I think 2 bonus tracks - Can't Help Falling In Love and The Land Of The Free, but neither shows on the album you linked to for me.

I have the album and it's not on my copy. Must be a bonus track offered at some point. I know it's deff. not on mine! My only bonus track is "Land Of The Free". Must have been a limited offer. I found it on TH-cam and SoundCloud...Only places I've seen it.

I just heard this for the first time last week, and I am overcome with emotion every Time! I love, love, love this version and I want him to sing this for one of my boys weddings!
I absolutely loved your reactions, it was priceless. I could see each of you singing along and when Tim would change ranges, the expressions. I think I will watch this reaction just for that. It was a beautiful arrangement of this timeless classic though I think my favorite cover of it was Pentatonix, it was just clean and the harmonies were not overplayed. Side note, my anniversary is August 16th, which is also the anniversary of Elvis' death, so we hear a lot of Elvis on that day. Neither my husband or I are huge Elvis fans, but this one song, we could listen to over and over. So yes, I will be watching your reactions to this cover because with the the distraction of the visual, it is so priceless.

This is what I was trying to tell you. These guys have skills that you don't necessarily see in their official videos because they always put what works for the song And THE WHOLE GROUP before any individual or the group just showing off their skills. All of them can do so much more than you see in the offical videos. Tim well Tim is Tim a category of singer all his own. Let's face it he could sing all the parts of any Home Free video if he wanted to but then it wouldn't be fair to the group. You have to understand their mindset to really appreciate them as people. Then go listen to them live to appreciate their skills and their humor. You should watch Man of Constant Sorrow live. Yes! I've been asking for this one for ages. I'll second, third and fourth this one. ^_^
Actually it’s just an A1 :/
Matthew: No, I'm pretty sure it's an A0 in the studio recording because someone posted the track transposed one octave higher and those A0 notes are indeed 1 octave lower than the A1 notes (you can hear them much better when transposed like that).
The live version has A1 notes instead I believe.
Monika S. yeah I listened to the altered track, they both sound like A1s to me (A2 in the altered version)
It's definitely lower than an A2. I can hit an A2 (only on some days, especially in the morning), but this was way lower.
ETA: Or let's say that to my ear, it sounds lower and definitely not like a normal A2 note. It does sound slightly 'weird', not in a bad way, just like something else is going on, but as I don't know much about subharmonics and / or growling (was never taught those during my singing lessons; and not even sure how well a female singer can use those), the only thing I'm sure of is that that note doesn't sound like a normal A2 note and that it sounds lower to my ear.

Sang it first his grandmother , who loved this song, recorded it before she passed.
This was stunning. And he was playing the piano himself. This was his grandmother's favorite song and he did that for her before she died so she could hear him sing it.

I think I'll never unhear Can'tHelp Falling In Love version as beautiful, relaxing, soothing, and lovely as Tim's cover. This is simply the best cover of this song. Of course Elvis' will forever be the classic, but Tim's version is just too lovely. it is really a sin not to fall inlove to this man

There is no video, but if you want to listen just for yourselves, Tim has his own channel with some of his originals from his solo albums on Jango. Go check them out, they are amazing.
OOPS!- after going back over to that site to make sure they were still there, I discovered that all of the songs once listed there are all gone now, expect one. I know he's planning another solo album, so he may have taken them down to re-work them into his new project. Here's hoping.

You sang for us!!! Ali, I didn't know you sang also! You both are very good, but your passion for music outweighs everything. I saw Elvis at his very last concert before he died (*tears*) and he sang this and most all of his iconic songs. Such a sad loss to the music world. How cool would it be if you two men could guest star at one of Home Free's concerts? That would be a sellout for sure. I'm so curious about what you guys actually do. Clearly something to do with music but what exactly? If it's top secret, you can tell me and I promise not to tell another soul :*))
