as a dutch person, i can confirm this is very, very dutch. the foundation of gabberpop and happy hardcore was laid in the netherlands in the 90s.
Same ❤
Yes, this is The Netherlands.......
no way u called this trash happy hardcore 😂
@@xoxo3337last part is HH
@@xoxo3337the fact you said this lets us all know, you know nothing about the hardcore scene
Heyhey! The ending is indeed part of the song, the song isn’t just a reference to hardstyle and gabber (which has true Dutch roots) but in an interview Joost said that the song is also in honor to his father who passed.
What he says roughly translates to
‘At the end of the day we’re all just people, my father used to tell me it’s a world without grenzen (grenzen, means borders but it also translates to limitations). I miss you everyday is what I quietly whisper, see dad? In the end I always listened’ referring to the advice he gave him.
He always told his parents who both passed he wanted to go to Eurovision and now he made it, taking after his fathers advice not to feel limited since the world is beyond limitation if you’re willing to work hard for it.
We are all humans❤
@@jesscee5331no shit
@@hiddeberenschot2071💀
Thats not Harstyle but (Happy-) Hardcore, it also started a 'bit' earlier in the 90's
Both his parents died when he was young and his father told him about Europa, that we are all equal. The burning of the pictures is his way to tell his parents that he hasn’t forgotten them, but he has burned his pain and can continue now. It is an ode to his parents
Ach wat een jankerd. Hij verkoopt zijn vaderland aan Europa en zet een windmolen in de fik.
He lost his Dad to cancer and a year later his mum passen away.. he was too young 😢 great creative person now
Joost klein, droom groot.

This song is a tribute to his father / Parents who passed away. Europa in Dutch means Europe. Pa or Papa means dad. His dad once told him the world has no “Grenzen” which could be translated to both borders (Borders are a man made concept) or limitations (Many people create their own limitations in their own mind). This life lesson inspired him to have keep having an open view on the world and live his life to the fullest without putting limitations on himself.
After his parents died he carried a lot of pain with him. No matter where on earth he was (Germany, Italy), whatever food he would eat (Escargots in France, Fish and chips in UK, Paella in Spain), he still carries this pain with him. In the end nobody but himself could deal with this pain and he himself must find peace with his losses. Only going through the grief and finding inner peace would put a end to this suffering. This song tells the story of him as an orphan trying to do exactly that.
Him creating this song was a huge part of this process. The line with Stromae / papaoute (which Translates to: Dad where are you), is followed with the words about how he wants his parents to be proud of him. He used to watch Eurovision with his parents and told them one day he would be there performing. Which is what he now did.
Jammer, jullie missen echt iets....🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🙏
Dear people from all over the world, give Joost Klein from the Netherlands 12 points, he deserves to win to make his deceased parents proud who will be watching Joost from heaven.
Netherlands deserves their 6th victory in Eurovision Song Contest
You had the same reaction as I did, started happy and dancing and ended crying. I really loved this song.
This is not only music, but real art ! It makes me happy, gives me energy and makes me sad at the same time. How is that even possible? Respect.
This is really the 90th with happy hardcore and gabberpop; my beautiful childhood and how special it is that Joost, who was born in 1997, brings this style back into our lives.
What an artist and a performer.🙏 Truly the best of the Netherlands ever. This song is with happiness and sadness combined, that releases all kinds of different feelings in a human body.Terrific beat, terrific feelings, thank you Joost.🙏🙏🙏
This is what music is about.
If this isn't going to win, than I don't know it anymore and we'd better abolish the entire Eurovision Song Contest.
Love this, love Joost, with love and 12 points.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉😊😊
It was so sweet to see how you went went trough all different emotions
It hit me out of nowhere🙈
It has such an emotional backstory. That combined with a very catchy tune and DJ Paul Elstak's happy hardcore/gabber vibes it's a banger for sure❤!
he's just an icon, such a banger!!
Eurovision is an emotional affair for Joost. As a child, he watched it together with his parents. "Parents, one day I'm going to be on Eurovision stage" and he made it. Unfortunately, his parents died when he was a child. This song is dedicated to his late father. That's why it's called EUROPAPA. The part in the song “I'm in Germany, but I'm so alone. I'm in Italy, but I still feel the pain, etc.", I feel it's directed at his parents... Joost loved his parents and still does. His lyrics are mostly very deep, but the melody is happy, danceable and the clips of his song are presented in a fun way. Joost himself said that his musical style is diverse. When Joost was asked what song they should listen to in order to understand you. He answered Florida 2009 (it's about his parents) and Wachtmuziek (it's about mental health). I recommend listening to them. You have to translate it, because he sings in Dutch.
He is an artist who took you through the painting that is his life. Ups & Downs. This is a masterpiece of emotions on it's own. Taking the lessons from his dad to heart. And in his Art. Trancending the Eurovision for sure. Love your reaction.
EuroPAPA, Papa is dad in Dutch, it's an ode to his dad who died when he was 12 years old. His mum passed a year later because of a heart attack. He always said to his father that he wanted to go to eurovision. The end is going full circle.
I love the song and the S10 cameo ❤

Cha cha last year changed Eurovision and this year will be just one big party
In an interview on Dutch TV, Joost said that the song is also about releasing pain that he carried along and that sometimes you have to let go. But not without what he had learned from his father, and also his younger self who then decides there are no boundaries and creates his own future. it's a positive track. 12 points if it were up to me.
Party, fun and quality. And he is great on stage.
This is such a wonderful amazing and catchy rollercoaster: wow!
I think televote is going to be a hard battle this year
I think there’s gonna be like no clear televote winner like Kalush or Kaarija
@@blee1997 I prefer it like this, the votes will be more fun
Damn, yes!
Definitely!!
The end of the song he talked about his dad and that he listened to him! He always said to his father that he wanted to go to eurovision
i think what makes this amazing is everyone feels happy at the start and sad in the end it hits the heart thats just one layer of the music witch has many for example the base bit is a look back to "gabber hardcore from when it started outfits and all as well as the stereotype that came with it at the time to punkrock earlyer before hardcore was a thing by dressing punky and having electric keyboards. song is upbeat all the time like your emotion of smiling happy to instantly sad. if you research the story of joost emotions are universal and its funny people from all over EU and outside feel that same vibe in a song from joost klein. im a fan and actually proud to see this song come to light.
I love your reaction!
This is the WINNER

His childhood was far from carefree. At the age of 12, the singer's father passed away due to cancer. Not even a year later, his mother also passed away from a heart attack. His older brother and sister took care of him and continue to be his main support and comfort
His song is like how life is. Fun times and also sad times, I love it. And it's not even my style of music I like. But it's retro GABBERRRRRR
Thank you for the support our Balkan friend 🤝❤

Hardcore happy times💪💪💪💪12 points go to Netherlands
Little bit of background on Joost. He was creative from a very young age and also a bit different. His father (papa) said that there are no boundaries and he should follow his dreams. They always watched the Eurovision (Euro) Songfestival together so as a kid he replied that his dream would be to go to the Eurovision Songfestival. Then his dad passed away when he was 12 and his mother when he was 13. For inspiration and acceptance of the loss of his parents he travelled trough Europe. Therefore he sings that the pain and emptiness stayed with him no matter where he went. He paid for mental help but it did not work for him. Still he managed to be a very positive and joyful person as reflected in this song. He sings about the song Papaoutai from Stromae that is also about missing his father. In all of this he managed to combine lot's of cultural aspects of different European countries and the Netherlands. This style of music originated of the Netherlands. There is even a reference to Max Verstappen. Without the layer of his personal life you will notice that a lot of elements can directly be related to the European countries. The young boy and the old man training with weights represent him and his father struggling trough life and his father being an example for him. The windmill is near where he spend his youth so also a trip trough memory lane to him. The final emotional scene represents him as a kid and his father when it all ended, the burning of the family photo and the building represents that you need to move on in life and not be stuck in the past. In the end he tells that he listened to his father (there are no borders for your dreams) and refers to him going to the Eurovision Songfestival. So winning would be optional, his goal was participation. And "Europapa" is short for Eurovision Song contest and papa (dad). There are layers all trough the song and the video clip.
90's in the Netherlands was SICKLY happy party vibes!
Happy hardcore vibes dj paul
Seems like the 90's and genre-mixing (thanks to Käärijä) are the trends this year!
💯
4:32 we all reacted like him right?
The last part is to his dad,
You should watch Joost Klein - Florida 2009
The sounds are early 2000's and some sounds 2010's But new, you know what i mean? And the beat when the people dancing crazy was called happy hardcore and was very popular in the 90's. The dance was called Hakken and the group was calling themselfs Gabbers. O yeah and the godfather of hardcore "DJ Paul ELsak" helpt with the (happy) hardcore beat. He is even in the car (in the clip), the bald guy in the car.
Joost Klein lost his father when he was only 12 and a year later his mother died. Song tribute to his parents, and a message to his father i have done it dad. He prommised his dad that he would be performing at the eurovision.
Waarom kreeg ik kippenvel bij het zien van zijn reactie.😂❤
Ayyy tysm🩶🩶
If you really listen to the lyrics, it is clearly an ode to his parents who passed away when he was a child and talking about him running away from his pain without success. Europapa means 'Euro daddy' of course, but also:
'fortunately I don't need a visa to be with you'
'I've lost everything except time'
'I'm in Germany but I'm so alone' (in German)
'I'm in Italy but it still hurts'
'I'm running from myself, crying for help all day long. I even give money to people but there is no one to help me'
'Turn on the radio, hear Stromae with Papaoutai ( which means Daddy, where are you? in French)
'My father once told me: it is a world without borders. I miss you every day is what I secretly whisper. See, dad, I listened to you'
So basically: wherever he goes, the sadness goes with him. And then that burning house at the end symbolizes the message to oneself of having to let go of that sadness and old memories in order to move on
The end is for his dead parents, they died when he was 12 years old. In the end he is talking about his dad and telling him that he listened to him.
Happy hardcore,
Joost Klein Droom groot❤
Het TBG, you must love this Joost version. He could be the unforgettable winner 🔥🔥👌

The song is a tribute to his parents who both died at a young age. The lyrics are about living life as an orphan, which Joost is himself. That’s why he says ‘Euro-papa’, ‘being alone in Germany’ and ‘Papaoutai’ (dad where are u?) and ends with this sad ending. His dad told him that there are no boundaries in the world, both in personal achievements and between countries.
