You might be surprised, but compared to all of my friends growing up, my fridge and cupboards were practically bare, only the bare essentials, what was needed to make meals for the week. So basically, compared to my friends, I was starving. Yet, I have a better memory than any ten of them combined. I had an extreme lack of nutrition. I either got buttered toast or oatmeal for breakfast, not nutritious. And I had cup-a-soups for lunch, again, no nutrition. So the only half decent meal I had was supper, and I wasn't allowed seconds the few times I asked. So yes, I was basically starving. I went to school with my stomach grumbling every single day because it had practically nothing in it. My friends breakfasts were always full meals, eggs, toast, bacon, cereal, all of it. My mom was working a full time job, and my friends who were on welfare had full cupboards and fridges. I got snacks, extremely rarely. And it is only now, at 39 years old that I am finally able to gain weight, because until now my body had been starved of nutrients. Science might say that more nutrition leads to a better memory, but I'm not so sure. I also look young. When I shave, I've been told I look like I'm 20 years old.
