I bought this recently in the form of a rare mini CD. It wasn't cheap, but that's how much I love this remix. I could definitely see this playing in a club in the 80s.
It’s 1:38am on Wednesday morning and I’m totally flipping out over this remix of this song I love!! 33 years after it was released and I’ve NEVER heard this version!!!😳😳 I love it!! I immediately ripped the audio and now I’ll be listening to it endlessly!! Thank you!!❤️❤️😁😁👍🏽🎸🎤🎹🥁
First off...love Heart! I also love this song in its original format. However, this remix version is TO DIE FOR! Love, love, love it! Honestly, I keep swiping the red dot backwards on repeat because I simply can't stop listening to it! Seriously, it's refreshing to hear a different sound for “There's the Girl”, a sound, I might add, that could easily be categorized as R&B?! Do you hear that slappin' bass? WOOOH! I always knew Nancy had soul within her SOUL lol. 💖
Thank you for making this music available to listen to. I was not aware that there was ever a 12" made. I remember the 7" but of course my memory is from the clubs then. It is as you stated a true "unappreciated rarity". Again Thank you!!
I find it extremely appealing. That isolated bass is the truth! This remix is a cut above so many others in that it has continuity; there's a structure to the arrangement of the edits that makes sense. The broken-down elements are superbly showcased! I make extended versions of my old favorites, and have a collection of 12" singles that numbers in the thousands that I've been collecting for over 30 years. I know a good edit when I hear it. This is among the best. Let's not get started on how very funky and soulful it is, either. I appreciate the upload very much! P.S. I could do without the 'echo' effects used on the vocal in places, though. Although I know *exactly* what the remixer was trying to do here, there IS a way to achieve that effect without it sounding hackneyed, as it does here. But oh, well. It's the only drawback to this version, and it's EXTREMELY minor!
Thanks! I've had people tell me the bass solos are excessive, to having people tell me the song is amazing. I personally love it, and it truly IS the best version of the song. :)
I apologize that this video of the 12" Remix of 'There's the Girl' is now no longer available to my U.S. viewers on the grounds of the content not being mine. Honestly, I'm not making any form of profit in posting it. Heart or UMG didn't make any profit from me purchasing this Limited Edition CD that has been long out of print in the first place! Not one person made any form of profit except for the person I bought the CD from! This is an extremely RARE remix of a very popular Heart song and is NOT at all the same song as 'There's the Girl.' Very few people in this world know of this version's existence, making it extremely unlikely that UMG has any grounds of ownership on it. I'm quite sure not a one of them had any idea that a 12" Remix ever even existed before I posted it for my fellow Heart fans. What a stupid thing to cause all this hullabaloo over for at least my U.S. subscribers. There could be other countries who cannot view it, but I am not entirely certain of this. In case anyone wants to hear this and any other blocked video of mine, I can send you a link via MediaFire for the mp3 files. Just send me a PM with your email and I'll do the rest. So far, my 3" Remix of 'There's the Girl' and my 7" Remix of 'I Want You So Bad' have suffered this ill begotten fate as a result of UMG's utter stupidity. They have no rights to this remix, and shouldn't have any rights to block my videos on such a shaky claim of ownership in that my videos contain the original, popular versions of these songs. They don't. Once again, my sincerest apologies to all those who simply wanted to enjoy the rare side of a band that has transcended the generations. -vixenrevitup
Thanks! I know, it really is. It's funky and fun to listen to, especially when you have a dead day at work and need something to perk you up. ^^ I wish this version could have been more open to Heart's fans, rather than to just those who are lucky enough to stumble across them... I found the actual CD single on Ebay (not the 7" and 12" vinyls that are beyond easy to find), and it is what it says on the cover: a very "limited edition." Thanks for the comment! -vixenrevitup
Worked in a wrecka stow in the late 80's. There wasn't much that I didn't have access to or heard. I have quite a few pop songs that received the "maxi single". Have always loved this song. I too felt that the single was way tooooo short. I'm truly pissed that this somehow escaped me. I might do YT premium just to download it.
Okay guys, I just answered my own question by playing both; I had the Japanese pressing that lists the time as being longer. It is, they just draw out the drum beats; that's all. The twenty-five or so seconds the Japanese pressing is longer than the U.K. pressing is just that they extended the drum beats for about twenty-five more seconds in the Japanese version. Other than that, they're exactly the same. thanks
That's wonderful! ^^ With it, you'll get to hear the 7" version too, which is the one used on 'There's the Girl's official music video. Enjoy it! -vixenrevitup
Wow! Totally different experience from the original (this one has more bass guitar and less synth which makes for a better version than the original IMO). BTW is Mark Andes playing bass on this remix? Because if he is he is a better bassist than I gave him credit for (always thought Steve Fossen was a lot better). But then again I've only listened to his work with Heart (he was in a couple of other bands before) and can only judge his live performance from YT videos since I'm too young (1985) to have attended a Heart concert with either line-up. Thanks for posting this! P.S : I think your avatar may be my favorite picture of Karen Carpenter and Crescent Noon is a criminally underrated song that showcases both Karen's vocal talent and Richard's knack for arranging and writing. Thanks for posting that as well!
You mean the refrain, "She's setting you up, my friend/She's gonna break your heart again"? Have you ever watched the official music video? The video is the version with this refrain. From buying the single, I found out that it is the 7" remix. I know my description of my video is inaccurate, because there are FIVE versions out there: the original album version, the remastered version, the 7" remix, the 12" remix, and the ever-elusive Japanese 3" remix. Thanks for commenting! -vixenrevitup
Well, always great to hear Heart, but this is clearly more than a remix. I always thought the shorter version was too short. Still, it conveys more emotion than this one...I think.
Depends on what kind of emotion you are referring to and where it's coming from (vocals or instruments). The vocals are pretty much unchanged from the original single version (no re-records of Nancy's vocals and no added verses) so there should be no emotion lost there. The instruments however - even though the keyboards take a backseat compared to the original - are quite different with drums and in particular bass guitar getting centre stage (seriously, the funky slap bass playing is nothing to sneeze at). So if you are on a dancefloor or listening in your car or whatever and looking for a dose of energy this version hits the spot a lot more than the original ever could. Then again, I always thought of 'There's The Girl' as a quite plain and forgettable pop song (not helped by it being sung by Nancy, her voice being much more pop oriented and lacking Ann's rock powerhouse capabilities) and one of my least favourite Heart tracks, so adding some funky bass playing and making the drums stand out more is a big improvement as far as emotion of any kind goes (though it's still severely lacking in the electric guitar department like much of Heart's 80's output).
This is certainly...different. I don't know whether I like it or not, though. Likely, I'm simply not used to hearing the bass so upfront in the mix. Hearing that bass (actually HEARING it) caught me off guard.
Vixen/everyone, also, I have "What About Love" on a Capital pro 12" that's extended and I have it on a U.K. 12" that's extended but I want it on cd, an official release, that' s extended. I see some on "Ebay" and I've written to the seller to get the times. They both tell me although it IS listed on the cover as being extended on the cd single, it's actually not; that it's still 3:45. So, does "What about..." exist on cd single extended or not?
Vixen, again please writ to me at my regular email address but I just checked and on the 3" Japanese single "B"/2nd cut, which is "Alone" it's listed as being 5:30. Now, I've a question for anyone else reading this. On "Wikipedia" (and we know sometimes it's wrong) it states there was an extended version ON CD of "These Dreams" I've never found it. Has anyone else? Yes, I DO have it on the etched disc but not on cd; does it really exist or is "Wiki" wrong again?
About 20 years ago, I heard a version of "There's The Girl" which was playing on a music service in a drugstore. I think it was the same length as the standard album version, but had a refrain of something like, "She's taking you for a fool, my friend", which repeats several times near the end of the song, fading out with it. Those might not be the exact lyrics, but it was something like that. Is that one of the versions listed in the TH-cam description? If not, there may be yet another.
Vixenrevitup or anyone else who know the answer to this question: I've a 3" Japanese cd single of this song that's extended 7:47, it also has a longer (than the lp version) of "Alone". The version you've posted is as you've stated the U.K. cd pressing and is timed at 7:22. I have the one you've posted on vinyl but it's packed away. Is there a difference between the U.K> extended version and the Japanese extended version? I suppose there is but haven't heard both? so??????????????
You HAVE that 3"????? I have been looking and looking for that single! I never knew that there was yet another version of 'There's the Girl,' even if it is just extended as far as drum beats go. Also, people have faked extended versions of 'Alone' so many times that it sickens me. I would love to hear the real extended version of 'Alone!' Is there any possible way that you could make mp3s of both those songs on the 3"? I could send you my email in a PM. Thanks! -vixenrevitup
I can't believe how the industry mistreated them back in the day. Shows you why we need more women behind the scenes in more powerful leadership positions. That crap this group went through back then would not have existed if more women were in charge and yeah I'm a guy writing this comment. The more I hear horror stories of what women have gone through and still go through today makes me hate I'm a guy. Then I realize this only makes me that much stronger knowing that I as a man that I am today was raised to think on my feet and be that independent man. This all due to a strong minded positive thinking woman my mom. Thanks mom.
Suck it up. They made millions of dollars. They managed to get control of the entire band just themselves when it was set up as an actual BAND. The two sisters would be nowhere without the guys in the first lineup of that band. And all the other people who played with them for decades.
The sisters have managed without the guys and could have. Nancy plays alot of instruments and played lead on their greatest hits. You don't need to be sexist, equality is good!
oh man this is so bad ass!!! How do I get this on mp3? Seriously I have never heard this version and this is by far one of my favorite heart songs. Hail Heart!!
+Darien L Thanks for the comment! This remix is actually from 'There's the Girl's extremely rare 1987 Limited Edition UK CD Maxi single, which I purchased sometime before I uploaded this video, so it is possible to get the remix as an mp3 without ripping it directly from the vinyl copy. You can either download a video converter and download this video into an audio file, or you can give me your email address and I'll send the mp3 over to you myself. Thanks for commenting and thank you also for the inquiry! Hail Heart, indeed!-vixenrevitup
+vixenrevitup Hello! Is there any chance you could extend the offer you made to Darien L to me as well? I've been checking for this Limited Edition Maxi single CD on the web and so far I've found only a few used copies going for pretty steep prices and I'd rather not purchase a damaged CD if I can avoid it. There is the vinyl edition too but the arm of my father's record player has been malfunctioning for years now and I'd rather not purchase a vinyl only to not be able to listen to it. If you decide to help me let me know and I'll send you a PM with my email address. I would be in your debt! Anyway, thanks for uploading this and making it available to Heart fans all over the world!
+Shadowboro2 Absolutely! Just PM me your email address and I'll send the mp3 your way! And I agree about the price of the single: it's hideous! I actually won mine in a bidding war on Ebay and spent roughly sixty bucks! I just looked on the site to see if any more had since become available, but there are none because of its rarity, so just having it now is totally worth the money! I love sharing my rarities, and if there are other Heart songs that you see on my channel that would interest you, feel free to mention them in the PM, and I'll send them as well! Thanks for the inquiry!-vixenrevitup
I fail to see how this version is terrible, the terrific bass guitar (the real thing, none of that artificial computer generated crap) makes it better than the original IMO. Sure, I could've done without the effects on Nancy's vocals in some parts of this remix, but other than that it's top notch and a much better dance floor tume. So unless you really hate bass guitar I fail to see how this version is terrible. But to each his own.
P.S. I could do without the 'echo' effects used on the vocal in places, as well. There IS a way to achieve that without it sounding hackneyed, as it does here. But that's the only drawback to this version, and it's extremely minor!

What an amazing version of one of THE best songs of the 80s. Going to see them in July. Cannot wait..
One of THE best songs of the 80s
This is by far one of their BEST songs!
it is indeed
Up there with Alone and Stranded...
Absolutely agree with you Regina. Cheers!
the best without question.
Best song, but worst version.
Brilliant Remix. Brings some extra to the original without spoiling it
Used to have the 12" pity it's so difficult to find this version, appreciate you posting it.

I love they mixed some of the chimey elements out to give the slap bass room in the mix. Whoever did this remix is goooood!
This is an amazing remix.. the bass work is awesome, and the dance drums.. puts a completely different spin on this song
Thanks a lot. Seriously, I loved Nancy....and I still do!!!
Thanks to you Vixenrevitup, I didn't think there was anyone else out there who really knew great music! Keep on listening to the many greats of Heart!
Thanks for posting this
Thank you for making this music available to listen to. I was not aware that there was ever a 12" made. I remember the 7" but of course my memory is from the clubs then. It is as you stated a true "unappreciated rarity". Again Thank you!!
Well i do not know if people don't realize BUT this is not really a 12", is just the 7" played twice i.e. repeated
Blimey this brings back so many happy memories of my wife who I lost this year. Heart are the best.

Spoken like a true fan thumbs up 👍
I gotta find this damn version, excellent.
OMG What a great version of one of Heart's greatest songs. Long live Ann and Nancy.
Thanks! I've had people tell me the bass solos are excessive, to having people tell me the song is amazing. I personally love it, and it truly IS the best version of the song. :)
THIS IS AWESOME !!!! I didn"t know this even existed. Thanks for posting. I love it !!!!

I apologize that this video of the 12" Remix of 'There's the Girl' is now no longer available to my U.S. viewers on the grounds of the content not being mine. This song has EXCELLENT RHYTHM!!! Like a viewer said earlier on the other video of this song, they keep their clothes on!!
Thanks so much for this and the info - I've never heard this and now I am eating it up!!
Thanks to you for your effort and all the explanation. I´m enjoying this version `cause I live in Europe.
I really love these extended remixes from the 80s. Some are better than the album releases. This one is a cool jam to throw on.
One of the funkiest songs they ever did. This is my favorite version of this song!
Thanks! I know, it really is. I'm really not a huge fan of remixes but this sounds just as incredible as the original too👍👍😍😍🎤🎤🎼🎼❤️❤️
Okay guys, I just answered my own question by playing both; I had the Japanese pressing that lists the time as being longer.
Enjoy it!
-vixenrevitup
vixenrevitup simply superb. Fell in love with this song
I've got the UK CD single and 12" record of this. I'll have to dig them out and see what versions are on it.
Long live Marc Andes! Cool Bass
Hey, Vixenrevitup I have not only found The CD Single of There's The Girl but also The 7in! I am counting the hours until they arrive!
lucky you
Wow! Totally different experience from the original (this one has more bass guitar and less synth which makes for a better version than the original IMO).

...UUUFFFF.....I like ,,I like...!
I have Japanese 3"CD-Single coupling with ALONE (long version), de gozaru!!
Vixen/everyone, also, I have "What About Love" on a Capital pro 12" that's extended and I have it on a U.K. 12" that's extended but I want it on cd, an official release, that' s extended. Top 12 in Hot 100 back then, it should be Top 5 hit.
I've got one, original 12" vinyl in mint condition, best dance track ever, killer slap bass.
@@vixenrevitup Are you still around? And are you still willing to share this?
Is that original music or DJ music
Original. It’s from the 12” single released in 1987.
BROKEN GLASS
COMPLETE DISASTER
Apart from the original, only the great remastered version is worth anything whereas these longer 'dance' versions are quite terrible...
I agree, it destroys a good song which is a traditional pop/rock melody.
P.S. I could do without the 'echo' effects used on the vocal in places, as well. There IS a way to achieve that without it sounding hackneyed, as it does here. But that's the only drawback to this version, and it's extremely minor!
UNAPOLOGETIC
無理くり引き延ばしてる感があるな
This is the shit
You mean the refrain, "She's setting you up, my friend/She's gonna break your heart again"? Have you ever watched the official music video? The video is the version with this refrain. From buying the single, I found out that it is the 7" remix. I know my description of my video is inaccurate, because there are FIVE versions out there: the original album version, the remastered version, the 7" remix, the 12" remix, and the ever-elusive Japanese 3" remix.
