I think that is why it is important to truly know the source, and the way it is gathered and how the animals or the workers producing the fibers are treated - I use both plant and animal fibers and I would hate to think that someone has been exploited and I paid for it.

my rabbits were the same, when we first got them I was like omg personality wise they are like a mix between dogs and cats who knew! Our female was a moody thing but the boy was very chilled out and cuddly :)
I say they are like a cross of a cat and a dog lol sassy attitude, litter trained, but also like a dog wants to be with you all the time, follow you around and act like you were gone forever when you come home 😆

We have had success weaving our homespun, home dyed Angora with a simple triangle loom. It made a great shawl that blooms well and is so warm! Weaving uses less yarn than knitting and I was introduced to it by a spinner who made a lovely scarf on a simple table top loom. She had done all the comparisons and found it made her yarns and wool go much further. Last year I did my own test and with just a few ounces of my baby fine ‘shorts’ (1.5” and less in length) I was able to felt a scarf with just a few ounces of what some would consider unusable! Thank you for taking the time to share your process!
I do not, but what comes to mind is making simple frame style weaving devices shaped to your pattern pieces. If you had, let’s say, a basic large rectangle of pegboard that would accommodate the size of your largest pattern piece and you used removable dowels, you could weave, much like a triangle loom, the exact pattern shape you will be sewing. This has been done in smaller form with cardboard and sewing pins. I don’t know if I’ve explained that in a way that makes sense- I can see it clearly in my mind, but not so great at sharing well. Let me know if that helps!

The primary issue is actually the thickness of the hair. Even when dealing with sheep or alpaca wool, there are different grades depending on how thick the hair shaft is. Angora feels so soft and fine because the hair is so very thin. Dog hair is pretty thick - frequently even thicker than human hair. While people do traditionally spin and felt dog hair, my understanding is it's the undercoat only, and only from specific breeds.
This is soooo helpful! I have just been cutting our angoras hair before it gets too long, but I’ve been looking into saving it and spinning it. Our spoiled babies are about to start making wool! 😍 Thank you.

Ruth Quintavalli -lots of folks do that with dog and cat fur here in the states as well. Some make keep sales like teddy bears and such!

I needlefelted with my dog's undercoat fluff and the material was really soft. (I did disinfect it of course)
