Glad this answered my issue with the same thing. But original flex and the different screen. Sucks they're calibrating parts like that. Knowing the flex itself has issues all by itself. Edit: They did say that biometric sensors are coming later so lets hope that is for sure the case.
I’ve done ic swap for screen and programmed mt serial and phone works great no issues. Aftermarket anything will throw message for batteries, screens, cameras and such. But thanks for the video. Clears up a bit of info we all wondered about

summary of own testing 1) As has been said several times, only iPhone 12 and above can be calibrated 2) If calibration cannot be performed in the iOS environment, you need to put the iPhone into diagnostic mode.. turn off the iPhone and after turning it off, you must hold down the volume down and up keys and connect the Lightning cable (it can also be on the charger).. keep holding the buttons and release the buttons after about 7 seconds 3) the display can only be paired as a set with flood illuminator, proximity etc.. the original part cannot be used with the new display even though it is an original part.. The only option is to program it if you keep the original, TrueTone and MSTN must be programmed and TrueTone and automatic brightness will work again, but even then the display will not be calibrated as an original part, there will still be a message about an unknown part 4) If you replace the rear camera of the PRO version, the iPhone must have the original LiDAR from the original iPhone, it cannot be replaced from a donor iPhone.. the LiDAR and neither will work The camera or other parts in the calibration list cannot be calibrated, e.g. battery 5) You can never calibrate FaceID after replacing the module, even if it is original from another iPhone, it is only possible with iPhone 16 ..6) So far it seems that if the donor part is from an iPhone that was marked in Lost, stolen mode and was in iOS 17, it can be replaced and calibrated in a new device, tested on iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 (Pro), but it is possible that the blocking is only in higher iPhone models .. 7) If you perform test exchanges, make sure that the iPhone is always logged in to a different iCloud if it is marked in lost, stolen mode, because otherwise when installing it on a donor iPhone with the same iCloud logged in, the lock will not be reflected .. 8) The iPhone lost, stolen marked in iOS18 must also be remotely erased until restored, otherwise the lock will not be reflected in the donor iPhone, tested iPhone 12 .. 9) repeated attempts to simulate such exchanges are not legitimate, once the display on the donor iPhone is operational on the logged in iCloud, even if it has not been calibrated, the attempt cannot be repeated.. the data from the donor part is apparently stored on the Apple server.. for each attempt, it is necessary to insert the locked part into another iPhone in which the part has not yet been located
I have a torn iPhone 12 Pro ear speaker flex cable. Everything is OEM except the new flex cable is after market. I’m going to solder the new cable to the screen and update to IOS18 and see if this works. I’ll keep you posted.
I think the reason that the lost/stolen phone parts worked for you was you had just reported your device stolen so apple servers maybe didn’t get enough time to update their database.
My lidar sensor stopped working, ip14PM can i save it by replacing my camera module and the lidar sensor, or will portrait mode still be broken? The lidar sensor is a single piece I did a motherboard replacement, and the lidar issue is the only thing i have other than the back glass not accepting wireless charging anymore. I dont use wireless charging anyway Edit, camera module was salvaged from a icloud locked board id assume the original owner didnt remove the lock
Those parts will work except for these exceptions to functions: True Tone, battery health (this looks like it will change on iOS18.1) and faceID (aftermarket true depth cam or flood illuminator won’t work because Apple refuses to pair these parts)

You can try new lcd with any other upper flex, that both have not been paired to recipient board yet. (lcd and flex may be from different devices, not necessary from same donor) Because i actually have reports it's also working.

Game changer for the shop I work at that has no outside support by Apple in the shadows of their changes. I think Apple ID can make this glitchy, so I don't trust the idea until it gets more patches. dot matrix and ir camera is part from the ,,rear system" which includes new mainboard,chasis and all flex cables inside,it is a factory pre configurated for the new mainboard and its not available for pairing to the end user,the only exception is the self repair service and you get a pre configurated part from the factory tied to your old mobo
Right, so this is an infringement on Right to Repair. The true depth camera is a replaceable part, however end users can't install an OEM part. The device function is TIED to a specific part pairing. This is wrong. This is what we need to bring up to the FTC en masse.

For the activation lock someone tested it and if you know there Apple ID log in you can unlock this (this only worked because they had another phone they could brick to test this and it was using their Apple ID though) This probably won’t work when I comes to parts reselling or for parts devices
You should swap two genuine screens between two fully reset not iCloud phones get the parts to pair then add account then trigger activation lock on one to see if it’ll lock the part in the still not setup as the part from the other
Thanks for this video - I think you might have to make a part 2 in like a month, cause it's pretty normal that the earliest versions of iOS are buggy in some way, and I would stand to reason that the inconsistency we are seeing from all these experiments, not just yours but everyone from the FB groups, is probably due to just that... and I hope (and pray) (but expectations aren't high of course) that when 18.1 one is released, that some of these issues get resolved. The sad thing is - this is not a dependable solution yet for repair, and repair shops like myself wouldn't be able to depend on this repair solution. Side note: Thanks for the laughs! Potentially, we will check. I think it's going to be the phone model--i.e. they know that older phones are going to have plentiful parts that are locked but simply discarded and not stolen. Newer phones are more likely to actually be stolen.
Maybe try a newer iPhone? Because it is actually possible that screens from iPhone 12 series doesn’t get serialized, try a phone such as an iPhone 14 Pro with Dynamic Island or even iPhone 13 Pro?
I have a13 pro with an original screen taken from another iphone and the original proximity flex for the 13 pro (i tried but fail to recover true tone using icopy) and it is failing to pair it. I don't have the proximity flex that came with the screen anymore because that repair was done some time ago. Everytime i try it says: unable to configure display because is not a genuine part or may not be functioning correctly. Iam sure the screen is original and it is functioning correctly. I have being using that iphone by the way, so i can tell it works fine

@@sharmaxop I think so too. Maybe will have to wait first for the official release of iOS 18 and then maybe wait until everything settles down a little bit. There is always bugs after a new iOS version release, with all this changes i am sure there will be more for this one in particular. Maybe in a couple of weeks truedepth and flood iluminator will be suported.
Problem is for third repair shops : If they bought used phones for donor parts and that phone is icloud locked or stolen and that shop sold the screen and battery to a costumer .. until now this wasnt a problem but after iOS 18 they will get the message to finnish repair and many will be asked to enter the donor phones icloud !! They are now screwed for using stolen phones parts!

I'm curious to see what happens if you install and program a part on another device and then turn on lost mode on the device the parts came from. Will it disable the device it was used to repair? Will the device show a warning message?
Does Apple prevent you from pairing a part which was previously paired? Do you need to unpair previously paired parts in order to now pair them to your phone?
Please try this: Put Phone A's part onto phone B, then run diagnosis on phone B to pair the part, then set phone A to lost mode, and check if phone B is locked as well.
We think the 12 pro just doesn't care about lost or icloud locked at all, but we will certainly try what you suggest once we move to 14 and start seeing the Parts Locked message
@@JessaJones I tested Lost Mode on the iPhone 14 by myself. I have two iPhone 14s. On the first one, I entered my Apple ID and put the phone in Lost Mode. Then, I removed the screen and paired it with the second phone. The configuration was successful with no error messages, and the phone wasn’t blocked. No issues at all. I’ll wait until Apple officially releases iOS 18 and try updating it. We’ll see what happens.
Have you checked to see if trutone works on an aftermarket screen after replacing? I’m wondering if we can finally ditch the trutone transfer machines, that rarely work, finally!
Were the iCloud locked/lost mode phones you took the screens from on iOS 18 yet? If not this could explain why they were able to pair with a different phone. Perhaps the parts don’t get locked until the device is updated

this is what my understanding about this Apple ( after ios18 update ) thing that they will allow uses of original used parts to another iPhone is that the used parts MUST be iCloud unlocked ( OFF / all that has pairing chips ) to be able to pair successfully to the iPhone that you want to use. So no matter if we buy used original pulled parts ( original used parts) from eBay or anyone who sells them. We get 95% will be hit or miss because most of them are from iCloud locked iphone that part out just to sell individual parts. Our repair shop is still not in good standing, and the big A is still the winner 😢

What happens if you get a used screen put in, and then the donor phpne gets reported lost or stolen? Will it immediately flag it, flag it next time you are in the pairing menu, or never flag it?
If it's an older phone, the answer seems to be "never flag it" Keep in mind the PART WILL STILL WORK JUST THE SAME. The only thing we are talking about with this stuff is the "unable to verify genuine" message. Once the part is paired with the new CPU, it becomes married to the new device. I think the link between that part and the original device is broken---when we return Greg's screen to Greg's device after we paired it with Belinda--it is no longer recognized--the screen is now Belinda's screen.

Hi. Yesterday I updated the iPhone 14 Pro Max with iOS 18. Six months ago I replaced the screen without soldering the ic. I had a black screen after the update. I hear the sound but there is no image. The computer also sees the phone. I connected it to iTunes and restored it to factory settings. Still black screen. I opened the phone and disconnected the screen and batterie. Black screen. Maybe I'll try to go back to the previous version of iOS. Do you have any ideas ? Thank in advance for help.
@@JessaJones Phone back to life 😅. First I try flash 17.6 68 error in 25% +\-. Next one I try 17.7 the same error 68. Later I try 17.6.1(21G93) flash go to 81% procent and stuck. It was progress. I make force restart, phone back to recovery. Finally I try soft 17.6.1 exactly the same what I use before update. Flash go to 100% and phone back to life 🙂. Thank you for your message. Regards
Anyone successfully swapped screen on iPhone 12? I tried with 3 different iPhones with different methods all wouldn’t calibrate the screens. Battery camera all were fine. I wonder is it only 12 pro’s and above

All phones had True Tone and Face ID working tried swapping 3 different display with the original proxy sensor from lcd and with original from phone both methods did not work. It’s a strange one, not sure is it only iPhone 12 that is affected, tried for couple of days. Currently trying to write up a Procedure for work. Everything else is working cameras, batteries etc and other models just not the 12’s

I have an iphone 12 mini that has a mismatched screen and flood illuminator, but the flood illuminator and face id module below are both original to the phone Face id works, but I can't pair the display. The repair assistant menu refuses to start, showing the bullshit network error... All of this is a waste of time honestly, Apple should ditch this entire idea because nothing works reliably and it's just a giant headache. But of course they love that, you'll just buy a new iPhone from them, since you're so loyal

I'd like to suggest a potential hypothetical solution but it would require a software engineer, what you need is a way to FORCE the iPhone to connect to check if it's valid but to redirect it to your own servers that just whitelist everything and report everything is genuine no matter what. Interrupt the process and essentially create a Fake Apple verification server where instead of verifying it just declares everything genuine. Skipping the database check and going STRAIGHT to the step it goes to AFTER it passes the check. This could be done by making it connect through a Proxy but have that proxies dns records configured so trying to connect to Apple's URLS would actually be paired to the IP address of your fake verification server. What you need is a Proxy you control and a DNS server under your control, and to reverse engineer the verification process. You poison the DNS records so that anything that points at a server under apple's control now points to your Fake verification server.
Greg’s phone definitely got wet-that’s how he lost his native flood illuminator to begin with. However there’s no remaining liquid “damage” other than the flood. Remember that we’ve already fixed the logic board and recovered all his data (why his phone is here) and tested FaceID and it worked.
Now big A, sees this channel then they will fix the bug and just wait in about 1-2 months, the new ios update will fix this, they will say thank you for letting us know that icloud locked parts still work. Now we will disabled it totally 😅 they're always the winner, they try to shut us all down so no competition! Always greedy
As someone that keeps seeing iPhone stolen from music festivals in bulk then sent to china to be parted out. iCloud lock doesn’t stop people so next is to axe the next way

Right now I'm getting face id issue and screen issue on 13pro. proximity flex is the paired to the phone, display and true depth aren't but they're both original My camera and battery are also both original But because of the face id and display errors, I can't pair a single part...

I have been an entrepreneur for the last 15 years repairing electronics. It’s sad to say that Apple is the only brand that monopolizes this industry. I’m literally waiting for a nice alternative to change my phone not to support them.
Sent my iPhone 15 plus that I purchased from eBay that does not have Bluetooth & WiFi functional to Apple under warranty they sent it back as warranty void cause unauthorized repair attempted, BUT they sent it back as battery unknown. Thank god after fighting with them they refuse to let the battery report. iOS 18 came out once updated it detected genuine battery and repaired it and now reporting. Why do they do this to us? Years and years to show us that their repair Ai system is amazing and can fix things and can do diagnostics. Now Apple let us do diagnostics on our iPhones plus now Apple let you order parts from them and you can repair your own iPhone. Not sure trust Apple with the insane pricing they do

i've tried it on 12 12pro and on 13 all....works as expected but on 14 series onward ..thats where things get crazy

I think this maybe device specific. It's so tough to have so many different samples to test. But maybe 15's have additional repair counter measures.

What happens when you install a 3rd party replacement part? Such as parts from ifixit or repart or any other after market replacemenf parts?

The release date for iOS 18 is the 16th.
I think that until a few days have passed we won't really know what's going on.

Potentially, we will check. I think it's going to be the phone model--i.e. they know that older phones are going to have plentiful parts that are locked but simply discarded and not stolen. Newer phones are more likely to actually be stolen.
Maybe try a newer iPhone? Because it is actually possible that screens from iPhone 12 series doesn’t get serialized, try a phone such as an iPhone 14 Pro with Dynamic Island or even iPhone 13 Pro?
I think only iPhone 15 and 16 have been shown to have any kind of part lock, but even then it wasn’t repeatable
I have a13 pro with an original screen taken from another iphone and the original proximity flex for the 13 pro (i tried but fail to recover true tone using icopy) and it is failing to pair it. I don't have the proximity flex that came with the screen anymore because that repair was done some time ago. Everytime i try it says: unable to configure display because is not a genuine part or may not be functioning correctly. Iam sure the screen is original and it is functioning correctly. I have being using that iphone by the way, so i can tell it works fine

@@sharmaxop I think so too. Maybe will have to wait first for the official release of iOS 18 and then maybe wait until everything settles down a little bit. There is always bugs after a new iOS version release, with all this changes i am sure there will be more for this one in particular. Maybe in a couple of weeks truedepth and flood iluminator will be suported.

Problem is for third repair shops : If they bought used phones for donor parts and that phone is icloud locked or stolen and that shop sold the screen and battery to a costumer .. until now this wasnt a problem but after iOS 18 they will get the message to finnish repair and many will be asked to enter the donor phones icloud !!
They are now screwed for using stolen phones parts!
I wouldn’t mind if they made stolen phones unable to be used for parts, because that would mean they’re worthless and criminals can’t sell them

If I buy a broken display with its original working flood illuminator flex and I pair it, then I change the flex by putting it on the non-original display, can I have the face id working again? True tone doesn't matter

SE won't work because it pre-dates the 12 pro (and the legal requirements in the Right to Repair States)

I'm curious to see what happens if you install and program a part on another device and then turn on lost mode on the device the parts came from. Will it disable the device it was used to repair? Will the device show a warning message?

Did you try transferring the true depth camera with the matching screen and flood illuminator. All three parts from the one device?
Does Apple prevent you from pairing a part which was previously paired? Do you need to unpair previously paired parts in order to now pair them to your phone?
Not for the 12 pro. We paired these screens back and forth across these phones many times

Please try this:
Put Phone A's part onto phone B, then run diagnosis on phone B to pair the part, then set phone A to lost mode, and check if phone B is locked as well.
We think the 12 pro just doesn't care about lost or icloud locked at all, but we will certainly try what you suggest once we move to 14 and start seeing the Parts Locked message
@@JessaJones I tested Lost Mode on the iPhone 14 by myself. I have two iPhone 14s. On the first one, I entered my Apple ID and put the phone in Lost Mode. Then, I removed the screen and paired it with the second phone. The configuration was successful with no error messages, and the phone wasn’t blocked. No issues at all. I’ll wait until Apple officially releases iOS 18 and try updating it. We’ll see what happens.

Truetone won’t work. It will only momentarily think it’s a genuine oem screen then it will realize it’s a aftermarket and treat it as such.
Today I pulled out the battery from the iCloud locked iPhone 12 Pro in lost mode and successfully installed and paired it with my iPhone 12 Pro

Were the iCloud locked/lost mode phones you took the screens from on iOS 18 yet? If not this could explain why they were able to pair with a different phone. Perhaps the parts don’t get locked until the device is updated
Yes we ruled that out-originally though they were on 17.5 but we updated, swapped, and then did the pairing again
repeated attempts to simulate such exchanges are not legitimate, once the display on the donor iPhone is operational on the logged in iCloud, even if it has not been calibrated, the attempt cannot be repeated.. the data from the donor part is apparently stored on the Apple server.. for each attempt, it is necessary to insert the locked part into another iPhone in which the part has not yet been located
this is what my understanding about this Apple ( after ios18 update ) thing that they will allow uses of original used parts to another iPhone is that the used parts MUST be iCloud unlocked ( OFF / all that has pairing chips ) to be able to pair successfully to the iPhone that you want to use. So no matter if we buy used original pulled parts ( original used parts) from eBay or anyone who sells them. We get 95% will be hit or miss because most of them are from iCloud locked iphone that part out just to sell individual parts. Our repair shop is still not in good standing, and the big A is still the winner 😢

@@JessaJones its an iPhone 13 Pro Max and if I recall correctly, only the display is the one that got replaced, the proximity sensor was unchanged
@GotTimeGaming they have to be matched as a set in the 12 pro, and reports say also in the 13 series which we are verifying this week

What happens if you get a used screen put in, and then the donor phpne gets reported lost or stolen? Will it immediately flag it, flag it next time you are in the pairing menu, or never flag it?
If it's an older phone, the answer seems to be "never flag it" Keep in mind the PART WILL STILL WORK JUST THE SAME. The only thing we are talking about with this stuff is the "unable to verify genuine" message.
Once the part is paired with the new CPU, it becomes married to the new device. I think the link between that part and the original device is broken---when we return Greg's screen to Greg's device after we paired it with Belinda--it is no longer recognized--the screen is now Belinda's screen.
Just tried this here in Australia and there is no change😢 it doesn’t look like we get the option of doing this down here with IOS 18😢

Hi. Yesterday I updated the iPhone 14 Pro Max with iOS 18. Six months ago I replaced the screen without soldering the ic. I had a black screen after the update. I hear the sound but there is no image. The computer also sees the phone. I connected it to iTunes and restored it to factory settings. Still black screen. I opened the phone and disconnected the screen and batterie. Black screen. Maybe I'll try to go back to the previous version of iOS. Do you have any ideas ? Thank in advance for help.
That is weird and I haven’t heard anything like that. Roll back to 17 in 3utools and let us know what happened? Is it an aftermarket or OEM screen?

@@JessaJones Phone back to life 😅. First I try flash 17.6 68 error in 25% +\-. Next one I try 17.7 the same error 68. Later I try 17.6.1(21G93) flash go to 81% procent and stuck. It was progress. I make force restart, phone back to recovery. Finally I try soft 17.6.1 exactly the same what I use before update. Flash go to 100% and phone back to life 🙂. Thank you for your message. Regards

All phones had True Tone and Face ID working tried swapping 3 different display with the original proxy sensor from lcd and with original from phone both methods did not work. It’s a strange one, not sure is it only iPhone 12 that is affected, tried for couple of days. Currently trying to write up a

All of this is a waste of time honestly, Apple should ditch this entire idea because nothing works reliably and it's just a giant headache. But of course they love that, you'll just buy a new iPhone from them, since you're so loyal

I'd like to suggest a potential hypothetical solution but it would require a software engineer, what you need is a way to FORCE the iPhone to connect to check if it's valid but to redirect it to your own servers that just whitelist everything and report everything is genuine no matter what. Interrupt the process and essentially create a Fake Apple verification server where instead of verifying it just declares everything genuine. Skipping the database check and going STRAIGHT to the step it goes to AFTER it passes the check. This could be done by making it connect through a Proxy but have that proxies dns records configured so trying to connect to Apple's URLS would actually be paired to the IP address of your fake verification server. What you need is a Proxy you control and a DNS server under your control, and to reverse engineer the verification process. You poison the DNS records so that anything that points at a server under apple's control now points to your Fake verification server.

Greg’s phone definitely got wet-that’s how he lost his native flood illuminator to begin with. However there’s no remaining liquid “damage” other than the flood. Remember that we’ve already fixed the logic board and recovered all his data (why his phone is here) and tested FaceID and it worked.

I have been an entrepreneur for the last 15 years repairing electronics. It’s sad to say that Apple is the only brand that monopolizes this industry. I’m literally waiting for a nice alternative to change my phone not to support them.
What’s worse about all that is explaining it to customers 10-15 times a day.
Sent my iPhone 15 plus that I purchased from eBay that does not have Bluetooth & WiFi functional to Apple under warranty they sent it back as warranty void cause unauthorized repair attempted, BUT they sent it back as battery unknown. Thank god after fighting with them they refuse to let the battery report. iOS 18 came out once updated it detected genuine battery and repaired it and now reporting. Why do they do this to us? Years and years to show us that their repair Ai system is amazing and can fix things and can do diagnostics. Now Apple let us do diagnostics on our iPhones plus now Apple let you order parts from them and you can repair your own iPhone. Not sure trust Apple with the insane pricing they do

I was able to pair parts from a Chimaera Mode iPhone (it's mine. I was dumb.) and it worked. No errors.
