Maximile comes in FEO 15W40 grade for diesel common rail BS4 engines. Not 5W30 as you mentioned. This is of API CH4 grade. Better oils like CI also available in market at lower price and reputed brand like Shell. I am using Shell Rimula CI4 plus. I am getting slightly increased FE in my Thar CRDe compared to previous figure.
Also, 5W30 FEO is SN grade suitable for petrol engine. To match the characteristics and performance of diesel engine SAE 15W40 has different additives profile compared to 5W30. Naturally, due to lower viscosity of 5W30 the engine operating friction is less, thus it gives slightly better mileage. But the essential moving components of the engine ate starved of anti-wear additives of 15W40. Hence, in the long run older diesel engine may have shortened life with 5W30.
