  • Hey guys, wanted to do a quick video on how I mounted these campaign sign prints to the 4ft x 8ft coroplast sheets using my laminator. Hopefully it's helpful to someone out there. Thanks for watching!

    I make a small 'leader' and attach it to the substrate (Underneith) then flip the vinyl over top of the laminator.
    Then I turn it on keeping the peel about three inches from the panel. It works pretty well. For overlamming vinyl I use the same hinge method by taping the overlam to the vinyl. Perfect results every time.

    Hey nice video first time seeing this machine. can you provide a link to purchase?

    • @Blackcreekcustoms
      @Blackcreekcustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The brand is US Tech, I can't seem to find a link to their website. I purchased it directly from US Tech. I recommend getting a better one if you can afford it. I have managed with this one but not without problems. Mainly feed issues, but have thrown away a lot of prints because of it tracking off. I've got it dialed in pretty good now, but it took me a long time. I don't have any recommendations for what would be a better one but I haven't been looking. I would advise searching some forums for ideas on which ones are good.

    Can I do this for laminating 5mm foamcore panels

    • @Blackcreekcustoms
      @Blackcreekcustoms  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not really sure on that...I would think it would collapse/dent the foam core. I would check into liquid laminate if you haven't already.

    • @Blackcreekcustoms
      @Blackcreekcustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@terryw5500 The brand is US Tech. It's a cheaper brand, definitely not a great quality laminator but it does get the job done. I has caused me a lot of frustration trying to get it to run straight but once I finally got it dialed in it does alright. A little tip I figured out when trying to dial in your laminator. Keep a piece of backing paper about 15 ft long and just keep running that through the laminator without laminate loaded and make adjustments until you get it running straight. Then your not wasting a ton of laminate trying to adjust it. I wasted a few rolls before I thought of doing that lol.

      @Blackcreekcustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, replied to your other comment. On this one are you talking about indoor as well? If outdoors, I always use ACM panel like I was using in the other video you commented on.
      Regardless you shouldn't have any trouble with the corners coming up if you use a good vinyl and clean the board really good before applying your print. If your using printed vinyl outdoors, I would go with 3M IJ40 with 8508 Laminate.

    • @Blackcreekcustoms
      @Blackcreekcustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FristCF Yeah absolutely, we do that quite often. You just have to make sure to use a super high tac vinyl on painted walls. All the new paints are low VOC so regular vinyl don't stick to them well. I have used MAC TAC Rough Wrap alot and it seems to do good. Just pretty expensive. I also typically use a matte laminate on anything going on walls to cut down on the glare. Thanks!

    I see you guys use the HP Latex - we use the same. Do you ever have issues with lining up the vinyl to the overlaminate? We use a SEAL heat laminator and usually cold laminate our materials since they don't require the heat (as far as we know) but always, always, always have problems getting the vinyl to go in "straight" or lined up with the lamination. We end up with a strip of laminate hanging off the edge on one side of the vinyl as it exits out of the machine. Makes doing 53" wide prints on a 54" roll seemingly impossible.

    • @Blackcreekcustoms
      @Blackcreekcustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, so I have had similar issues. In my case though it was my laminator needed adjustment. I took the side panels off and there are set screws that let me adjust the pressure or levelness lol... for each end of the rollers. That pretty much fixed my tracking issues. The way I tested it, so not to waste a bunch of materials. Was I loaded a long piece of backing paper and kept running it through till I had it to where it wasn't tracking side to side so much.

    How to Charge/Price this job ?

    • @Blackcreekcustoms
      @Blackcreekcustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough one to answer bud. I have a spreadsheet I've made with my most common materials with their costs. I type in the sq ft I'll be using on each material involved in the job and it calculates my markup. Then I add my labor at the end to get the final price.

    Whats the Laminator brand you got bro ?

    • @Blackcreekcustoms
      @Blackcreekcustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's an off brand called US Tech...would not recommend. Its a piece lol...It was cheap, I think I paid $3800 for it new like 4 years ago. But when I first got it, I could not get it to run strait. It would track off like 4 inches in 10ft and would like click an leave a strip of bubbles every few feet. I went through a whole roll of laminate and prints trying to get it figured out. Luckily my dad was there to help me and figured out the chain on one side was off by 1 tooth on the gear vs the opposite side. It came from the supplier like this. So we took it apart and fixed that, and that fixed the jump/bubble line. The tracking still sucked though. Took me a long long long time and many prints thrown in the garbage can to get it dialed in. It still gets off a little on long runs, but I just always try to make sure I have a little bleed on both sides of my prints. Moral of the story is...don't cheap out on your laminator lol. I can't wait till I can buy a good one. Then I'll just this one to apply prints to boards and such. Thanks for the comment man!
