I was at this gig 10 years ago and have been absolutely obsessed with it ever since. It will be a serious blow to me if its ever taken down from youtube
Why on earth would an Irishman not sing this song? They played a massive role in the war, and the Irish can relate to the cause of freedom and being rebels more than anyone.
yes the Irish did fight for the Confederacy. But so did Italians, Germans, Brazilians, Scottish and many many more. The Native Americans don't get enough credit for fighting in the 2nd war of independence. The last Confederate General to surrender was a Cherokee Native American named Stand Waite. In fact all the natives who participated in the war fought with the confederacy!
Likewise, Black Hawk was also an enemy of the United States Government. The Army should rename its UH-60 helicopter, just like it renamed bases named for Confederates.
Confederate Major, (James) Innes Randolph would be proud of how y'all perform his poem "The Good Old Rebel" that was written in anger (well deserved) in 1867 at Richmond, VA, during the post-war era of Union military rule. Good on ya lads ! ! Your rendition holds true to the exact words of the poem and express the angst of the writer and your instrumentals are true to the era. Come on over here. Y'all would do well in this land of Celts in the highlands of NC. Beers on me.
The Irish Rebel who fought the Yankees was born in Killumney, Ireland, Gen.Patrick Ronayne Cleburne was the "Stonewall of the West" in the Confederate armies. He' dance in his grave down in Arkansas if he heard y'all play this song.
@@southernmonarchist6550 Many southerners - and confederates - at the time agreed what Booth did was dumb. Look at what Shelby Foote said about this for instance; that fact of the matter is, at this point, the South was peacefully surrendering, and trying to rebuild itself from the war. All Booth achieved was putting a bad look on his cause. But go ahead with your useless whine. If I said "Hiter was racist", and you replied with that BS, "that's your opinion", you make no point.
@@SStupendous There was no formal surrender of the CSA. Only the Militaries surrendered, not the CS Govt. Mr Booths only bad deed was not doing worse to Lincoln. You can't say Lincoln didn't deserve it after all he did.
@@TruthSpeaker. The government no longer exists. If you got out of your shell and actually ready anything contemporary from the time, or een listened to the words of the real Confederate veterans, it paints an image that the assassination wasn't appreciated by Southerners. They'd just become Americans again, and started the process of reconstruction. Would you rather we yankees made you really pay for the war? The Confederates got to go home free of anything done to them following the war, many like Longstreet or Lee had propsperous times in the Gilded Age. Point is, as Shelby Foote and people of the previous generation - the Gilded Generation, that fought in the war - said, killing Lincoln really wasn't at all a great thing to do, a display of aggression and anger after the peaceful way the Confederacy vanished.
Fair enough, just written during reconstruction and marginalization of the south.....still happening today somewhat, the 6 largest cities are drastically split in character (NYC, LA & Chicago are chic, while DFW, Houston & Atlanta are gauche), although things are now changing mostly due to tax structure. best regards,

Ya I been all over US past several years defending our monuments and such and been in alot of scuffles with Antifa and BLM . Some the videos online. Ya it's crazy how things are now days. They don't like us as they feel we a threat to them. We all alone in this for sure. I know alot of conservatives who don't like Confederates either and want our monuments gone. It's crazy
Sad that its not, I am from the Home State of the Best Irish American in my opinion, the heroic Gen Patrick Cleburne. He was a profit as his Quote lives in the times we are now under. "Surrender means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the War; will be impressed by all the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision."
