Dude im actually so happy I subbed to you. Great review as always. Your presentation is definitely on par with the big boys, keep pumping out this quality content and its just a matter of time till you go big!
I know I heaped praise on your last video (also, I'm not a knowledgeable person on this stuff) but your presentation is still really, really good. I think if you want to explode your viewer and sub count you need like, an edge or a gimmick. Think of channels like ssethtzeentach or lord mandalore, they both tend to focus on niche titles or hidden gems. I think your commentary (especially the pacing) hits that same "big youtuber" quality with your voice and script. Other channels like shammy have a ton of narrative weaved into the script, so that's their kind of speciality that keeps viewers hooked. But whatever, I'm not actually a legit source for tips about this stuff, just offering some thoughts. Another sick review!
Thank you! I love this kind of feedback. It sounds like we watch a lot of the same TH-cam. I'm definitely inspired by Shammy, Mandalore, and the gang, and while I've watched enough bad TH-cam to know what not to do, my biggest challenge is figuring out how to carve out my niche without being derivative or a copy of those folks. I'd love to hear any other thoughts you have. I'm always trying to figure out what's working and what isn't. Thanks again!
What the, how come you only have less than 1k subs?! This vid is on par with many of vids produced by other big youtubers and I'm so glad TH-cam recommended this to me. 0.0
I like how you admit to being an edgelord dual blade main. I bet you listen to Linkin Park and Breaking Benjamin. Us Lance users are the backbone of any good hunting team, taking no damage, but also dealing no damage.
Exactly. Nobody is better than us lancers. We're unbreakable; exactly the same way that the monsters parts are unbreakable when using the lance.... Truly the best weapon ever made.
I was watching this video thinking it was some 5-6 figure subscriber youtuber.... and then I saw you only have 700+. WTH? Great commentary, presentation and presentation style. The humour and video edits are great too!
Excellent, concise review. Glad you jumped back into it to rediscover what an amazing game it can be. My only critique...it's Monster Hunter, non "Mon-Hun". Thanks. 😄
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. Apologies if you found my verbal shorthand grating, I found it preserved flow better in recording. Thanks for your support!
@@serothel Only an hour in, just passed the opening "Getting to the New World" tutorial. I'm completely overwhelmed by the amount of different systems that I don't understand. And completely unimpressed with the amount of GPU power this game takes. But I will power on and hope to develop a similar level of love for the game :)
@@casualnerdjason6678 Totally understand! There was a steep learning curve for me as well. I'll do my best to help if there's anything specific you're running into.
158 views is kind of ridiculous. you should spam this video on reddit or gamefaqs because i'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it. you should review iceborne.
I'm glad you think so! Posting to reddit and other sites is tricky cause it's easy to get buried, but it's something I think about. I might do Iceborne later this year.
At this point, it's "yes" IF you have friends to play it with or are willing to go it alone. The game is as content-rich as it's ever been, but it's a few years old now and there's a new MH on Switch so the population has declined. MH Rise is coming to PC next year and is probably the most accessible yet, so that's going to be a good jumping-in point. But if you want to play MH right this second and don't have a Switch, World has a lot of game to it.
200hrs just to be somewhat good enough to take down monster....think I'll pass. To big a time cost vs reward, still curious to try it. But with 250 different overpriced cosmetic packs and a base and dlc game bundle, that is still overpriced considering the base game is two years old now and they have more dlc then a ubisoft game on a good day. Still im glad it exist to inspire games to move in new directions.
I don’t know where else to say this but I just don’t get this game. It felt monotonous and just kind of meh...I haven’t put that much time into it so I get that what i’m saying isn’t law but I just simply don’t get it. I want to love this game. Everything seems so interesting and cool but when i’m playing I just feel...meh. I don’t know why and I can’t really explain it. I find this quite often with Japanese games. It seems to be a culmination of the menus, the cutscenes, the dialogue and even the gameplay. It feels like it’s missing something to me. If you can help me find a way to love and throw myself into this game Id love that.
First off, it's totally okay to bounce off these type of games. I joke about having a high tolerance for JRPGs but it really is an acquired taste. A lot of Japanese games, even those that are really good, can have positively glacial starts and can be a bit overwhelming due to the systems and wall-of-text tutorials they throw at you. I think the best way to approach them is to look out for something you really like - whether it's a particular game's playstyle or story - that's enough to keep you hooked through the learning curve. As for MH, the loop is the game so the systems really have to sink their hooks into you. A lot of people I know bounced off it because they never got to the point where you've got a monster downloaded and style on them, and I can't fault them for that. It took me a few tries, but eventually you sort of get acclimated to the genre's quirks and can have a good time with it. I really made JRPGs sound like Stockholm Syndrome huh
@@serothel it’s strange. I’m a fan of Japanese content. Not to a “weeb” level but as much as the next person. I played Jump Force for quite a while and enjoyed it. That game has every single Japanese game cliche going for it but I enjoyed it. I’m just struggling to enjoy this game.
@@AaronTadman You wouldn't be the only one. Part of MH specifically is that each weapon type plays very differently. I started with Heavy Bowgun but that didn't feel good, then I switched to DB and it really started to click. I'd encourage you to experiment and see if something clicks for you! If not, there's nothing wrong with it just not being your speed.
@@AaronTadman I know that everyone has their own tastes and point of views and all... but i am amazed that you enjoyed more a very shallow and cliche game like Jump Force, and the combat system is one of the worst i have played, very button smashing.
@@alfredoamendez4299 Exactly my point Alfredo! Maybe it’s the fact my brain sees a Japanese game and craves simplicity from it. I’m not entirely sure. I’ve since played more monster hunter and beat the second main encounter. I do enjoy the game but it’s still yet to grip me.
