- This is part of the night tour at Whipsnade Zoo where I stopped overnight.
These are the first Aardvarks to be seen at Whipsnade, their names are Dobby (female) and Terry (male). The enclosure has been specially designed for them. Aardvarks are mostly nocturnal so this special experience was wonderful. Aardvarks look like anteaters but they are in a class of their own. Their nearest relatives are elephants. Special adaptations include a sticky tongue to collect termites, claw-like feet to break open termite mounds, thick skin and the ability to close their nostrils.

Your raccoons sure look strange! LOL 🤣. I couldn’t resist! That's awesome you get a night time tour. Our zoo only is open at night for holiday events promoting food, not animal viewing.

I did an overnight stay at one of their lodges so this tour was part of the package. Expensive but the money helps with their overseas conservation work. I was totally gutted though that I missed the northern lights that night!

Yes, adorable, the babies have almost full sized ears when they're born, hope these two have young.

Ich teile diese wunderschönen Tiere einfach gerne. Ja, es ist eine Ausgabe, aber eine, die ich mit oder ohne meinen Kanal machen würde, es macht mir Freude 😊
