been camping there for years. It is very beautiful and there are many lakes to see and explore on icehouse road on your way up to Loon Lake. The fishing is great. the view of the night sky on a clear night is awesome. So much to do and see. I recommend it for all those who love camping, fishing, rubicon trail fans, swimming. The water is crystal clear in many parts until it gets real deep. Cold but if i can swim in it and can handle it then you can too.
Last time I was there was 1967. It was beautiful then and no one there. Back then you could drive into Yosemite and camp. No reservations needed. It was NOT a busy place but the population was a lot less.

Excellent lake, but it gets quite windy in the afternoon later summer/fall.
