  • Ventimiglia Italy has a market every Friday that features over 500 vendors. It is a short train ride from Nice France to Ventimiglia, Italy. In today's video we share with you our tour of this popular market.
    This trip to Nice is part of our scouting trips to France to determine where we will be living full-time when we move back to France in the fall of 2024. Will it be the South of France or will it be Paris? Where do you think we'll decide to go?
    Bonjour! We are a couple who have fallen in love with France and decided to move from the USA to France ❤️ We moved to France in November 2022 and returned to the USA in February 2023 for health reasons. We are spending 2023-2024 recalibrating our efforts with a home-base in Vero Beach, Florida and traveling back/forth to France. This channel is dedicated to documenting our journey to ultimately live in France. Subscribe to this channel by clicking this link👉 bit.ly/KTfrance

    Thanks for your wonderful videos: a window onto what it is like living in the South of France in 2023. What is your take living down there? Do you like it better than Parisian life? You seem more relaxed, composed and less tired living in the South of France. Look forward to hearing from you soon. Keep the good work up. Merci. S

      Merci, Sebastain. We really enjoyed our time in Nice and finding it very hard to decide between Nice and Paris, since we also really love Paris. We will be back in Paris in October and hope to be closer to a decision after that trip.

    Nice video !
    Just a small warning for the Ventimiglia (Vintimille in French) Market : It is known to be one of the biggest european market for counterfeit luxury brands.
    And the French Customs officers know this fact very well and do a lot of controls on the roads and trains coming back from Vintimille.
    Don't get caught : the goods are destroyed and you have to pay a hefty fine...

    • @joseeallyn9950
      @joseeallyn9950 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that many of the goods are made in Italy and identical to those made for high end stores but with no trade mark, but the 'knock offs ' are just as good.., maybe seconds, often not, just made alongside the others which will have a trade mark. France does prosecute and confiscate goods that are not genuine trade mark goods, so it is best not to buy pseudo brand names, even if you are walking in the street in France with past purchases. Of course in America gangs of youths simply raid the high end stores and sell their loot on Ebay..no knock off for Americans, only the originals!

    • @kjandtonylovefrance
      @kjandtonylovefrance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing this for those that may fall victim to purchasing these goods. I'm not much of a label person and certainly would not want to purchase anything that I think may have been stolen or is, in essence, stealing from the brand as a "knock-off." Although I can understand how tempting it is to do so.

    • @ahoj7720
      @ahoj7720 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The absence of trade mark is not enough. If it looks like the original it is considered counterfeit (for example a tee-shirt having a Lacoste-like logo, such as a lizard). If you buy a genuine good keep the receipt showing the price you paid.

    Thanks for showing a lot of the market. I was wondering how big it was, and if it was the kind of market you'd spend an hour or two, or all day. I think the prices were reasonable for the area too. And those Italian woven leather shoes were fantastic! Did you end up buying a dress, or the olive wood serving pieces, or anything else?

    • @kjandtonylovefrance
      @kjandtonylovefrance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We spent a few hours there from 10 am to about 1 pm. I could have spent longer if I were by myself. I bought a dress and the Olive wood serving pieces. We would have bought a bowl too but we were worried about getting it back home in our suitcases, so I bought a small dish (the one in the video) that I use to hold my sponge in our kitchen. I also bought my pink bunny fan there at the market. I think it was 5 euros. We didn't buy any shoes, but regretted that decision afterwards because they were really beautiful.

    Can't wait for videos about moving to France .. how's your French coming along?

    • @kjandtonylovefrance
      @kjandtonylovefrance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's coming up soon (the update on our move) and the French is moving along. We are back to our French lessons, which is really helpful. One of the things about Nice that I didn't like was the fact that everyone spoke English. To the extent that I felt like people would rather speak English than French. I don't know how true that really is, but that is how it seemed.

    • @bluewaterstudio
      @bluewaterstudio ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kjandtonylovefrance The Nice area is beautiful but doesn't feel all that 'French' to me. I love diversity, the French language, the feel of Paris. However, it is so expensive here. My apartment is the size of my living room back in Oregon .. and there isn't much (non-studio) for under a million Euros these days unless you look in the suburbs. But then, you start taking a step back from the essence of Paris. Now, if we could just get rid of those darn 'tourists' 🤪 -Daniel (Paris)
