Really love this game. It mixes elements, music, and content from Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2, Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, and even Super Paper Mario.

Well, is there a difference between a mushroom and a toadstool? Maybe it's like the difference between an ape and a human. We sorta feel bad, but still use them for animal testing. Hah.

Since mushroom is rather big part of Kingdom Fungi, types of mushroom might be as different as much as a fish and a human. Also, fungus needs to eat other organisms to survive so there is likely to be a specie of mushroom that eats off another mushroom IRL.

3-5 could be heavily optimized, it's possible to grab the third coin at 1:46:52 by crouching and slightly clipping into the wall. There's also a glitch directly after which involves hitting the ? blocks very quickly which for some reason triggers the end-of-level fanfare.

I have noticed a few bizarre observations in this video:
• At 7:42: how can you run by King Bowser Koopa, when you were running towards the switch to the drawbridge for you to open it up there so that King Bowser Koopa falls into the lava, without you in getting hurt by him???;
• At 54:35:00: Bowser Jr. somehow just hit himself *_twice_* with the (turtle) Koopa shell that he was trying to throw at you and so defeated himself _for_ you [Bowser Jr. got hit by a (turtle) Koopa shell by you on the first time that he got hit by one]!!!!!;
• Mainly in World 7 stages (but also in a few other stages in other Worlds): how can you change direction from you in facing and travelling upside down to right side up (and vice versa) on the fly like that without you in falling/floating to your death???; and
• Several times throughout the video (i.e. at 2:15:00 and 2:18:00): how can you jump/go/slide through the wall like that???
Anyway, I really like the Tank stage that was shown at the very end of this video, after you have 100% completed the entire video game!!!
Steven Villman Bowser's hitbox is only on his head, so you can run right by him if you're small.
I believe he threw the shell to the left, so it bounced back and hit him.
It's programmed into the ROM hack to flip you upside down or right-side up at certain areas.
I couldn't tell you what that backwards pipe exit at 2:15:00 is, but 2:18:00 is explainable. Basically, if you duck jump into a corner at the right pixel, and you uncrouch at the right frame, the game will think you're standing in the wall. The game always ejects you to the right, so he travels through the wall.

What the above person said also this is a tas meaning tool asisted speedrun which is either when someone uses slowdowns and savestates OR goes through and says what buttons to press on every frame for frame perfect input

[Edit] Oh, I guess after clearing the stages the first time around, he goes back to the stages he misses to get the coins.
This TAS gets 100%; every world is visited twice, and stuff that was skipped the first time is gotten the second time. (Prankster Comets don't appear until the game is beaten, necessitating the return trips.)

Nice touch with the Lego bricks. You could see the system struggling with some of the heavily animated sections.
The partially off music for the more memorable tracks was interesting. I assume for some copyright issues. Same with the ice flower instead of fire flower.

And Shigeru Miyamoto always said that Yoshi was impossible to do on the NES
He never said it was impossible, he just stated that it would take up too much of the NES memory and they would basically just have to sacrifice a lot of sprites to be able to include him, which is what the author of this hack had to do with the levels that included yoshi.

It's really not that hard though. I've been TASsing this game and the first level alone can be optimized to be around 1 second faster.

Apophis324 Yea I know. As much as this game had going, that code was a bit disappointing. A practically pointless 50 that can easily be grinded within the first world anyway.
It's more or less a misplaced gimmick then. Oh well. The game is pretty nice anyway.
Actually if you start a NEW game, it also gives you 50 of all items. Plus it enables a "free movement" mode by holding SELECT. And lastly, there's a debug menu off the title screen.
