I have over 40 fountain pens and inks. This was truly a great and informative review, THANKS!! You answered all my questions! This is for sure a pen I'd love to have, and beautiful too! Thanks for all your great videos!!
I don't know if you have children, but if you do...they are the luckiest kids on the planet. Your voice is soooooo soothing and relaxing, perfect for reading stories to anyone! Oh, awesome review on the "Himalaya V2" as well!
Hey Teoh, ya need to ‘temper’ the tip of the feather by taking a container of sand and heat up the cap trainer of sand in the oven, put the ‘nib’ of the feather in to the sand. That’s supposed to make it a LOT better for writing and drawing. I’m not sure exactly on the procedure of it, like what temperature the sand should be, how long to hold the nib in the hot sand, etc. But, I’m sure you could find it online!HTH!!
I have one of these on order. I also have a Jaipur V2 flex nib. Yes you go through nib but less quickly than a dip pen nib. I use mine for calligraphy. It means you can get into the flow of your work more without having to constantly interrupt with dipping.

My japypur doesn't write very well.. Ink interruptions all the time.. Not agréable... Something spécial to do with it ? Ciaoooo JF
I have this pen and nib- got the green ebonite one. I love it for sketching :) It's pretty great and is my 3rd best flex pen I own. I only own four. listed in order of preference: 1.waterman 52, (just ordered a Noodlers Boston Safety for it so it might be my go to sketcher! 2. Mabie Swan nib in a Noodlers Boston Safety. 3. FPR ultra-flex. 4. Noodlers Ahab with FPR flex.
I am in LOVE with the #6 flex nib that is available from FPR now, I’m Extra Fine at that!! I just had a bad experience with this pen and use the nib on other pens
It does seem to put down quite a bit of ink, but that might make sketches interesting. I have the Noodler’s Ahab, but never thought it was very flexible and I don’t use it. I might have to buy this pen...sketch is very helpful to see effect.
Thank you for the informative video, Teoh. I have been researching flex FPs and this seems to be a winner. The only thing that gives me pause is the large feed because I tend to draw with the pen at a lower angle. Can the feed be changed for this pen? Do you find this to be a big issue when you draw with this pen?
Noodler's black or Platinum Carbon. Both are inks I've used and can say with certainty are waterproof. Noodler's Black is dye based; plat carbon is pigment based, so it's a bit thicker and dryer, and may not work as well with some pens, but has not caused any problems with mine. Just remember to clean out pens with pigmented ink if you plan on not using them for a long time.
Thanks for the review. Could you compare this Ultraflex FPR pen with the Noodler’s tripletail and the Duragraph Omniflex for drawing? Which one you prefer... Thanks
Great video Teoh ! Thank you ! I would like to ask you if you know if this #6 EF ultra flex from FPR would fit on a Jinhao 159 that takes standard #6 nibs ???
@@teohyc well, they sell it separately at their site at a reasonable price, but I'll have to check out if the Jinhao's feed diameter is 6,2mm :-) Thanks.
Which pen would you recommend for someone new to variable line pens, fude or flex nib? I was considering the Duke pen with fude and medium nibs but then I saw this one. Thank you 😊

Oh, awesome review on the "Himalaya V2" as well!
The main difference besides the converter is actually the #6 size nib and extended feed on the v2 verses the shorter feed and #5.5 on the v1
I have bought a number of pens from FPR and enjoy them tremendously. Great value for a Flex nib!
Love this pen !
Happy New Year's Eve 2020 to you and your family !
Thanks for reviewing this. I think I will get one of these. The only flex pens I have tried where the flow is this good are my faithful Pelikans.
Which Pelikans have flex?
@@teohyc Vintage perhaps.
FPR nibs and feeds are supplied by Kanwrite which is also the OEM for Noodlers.

What was your bad experience?
Curious about that nib. Great review, Teoh.
The pen writes beautifully. But how do you deal with smell? The pen converter stinks terrible (only the convertor, when pen is closed, it doesnt)
And I wonder how their regular flex nib works, if it would use not quite as much ink, but still perform well.....? I'll look for some reviews!
Even the Namiki Falcon when flexed puts out more ink than usual.
I have the regular flex on my Himalaya right now. I see little to no variation but it is "softer" and feels good against the paper. - smooth.
@@michelewhite1956 Thank you for the information! I appreciate it!
Thank you. I had not watched a thorough review of the FPR Himalaya. Excellent job! Too bad an old man cannot learn to do the art as fast as you do! :)
Anyone can draw

I’m not sure if they have other feed. Or ask the seller and maybe suggest a feed design. My pen is usually at 45 degrees so it’s not a problem for me
@@teohyc You are awesome, Teoh. I appreciate the reply.
Thanks Teoh. I ordered the same flex nib pen.
Finally! An affordable alternative to the stinky Noodlers pen!!! Thank you!
Literally stinky. That's one thing I don't like about the Noodlers. lol
Is this the Flex nib or the Extra flex nib? I've been wanting on of these for awhile. Thanks for the review!
They call it the EF Ultra flex
I have one ready to put in my FPR Himalaya. It's GOT to be better than the Omni flex on my Conklin.
Which waterproof black ink would you recommend?
Noodler's black or Platinum Carbon. Both are inks I've used and can say with certainty are waterproof. @@flowerpot-h7p Thanks
Does the nib actually flex without having to put x pounS (plural) pressure on the nib like a Noodlers "flex" (note quotes) requires?
If you have used Noodler's flex nib pens, you have to apply the almost the same amount of pressure, maybe slightly less.
Thanks for the review. Could you compare this Ultraflex FPR pen with the Noodler’s tripletail and the Duragraph Omniflex for drawing? Which one you prefer...

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve not heard of those pens before
A bit too wet, maybe? I suppose they erred on the side of caution to avoid railroading but it seems a bit too much.
It’s not unexpected for flex nibs to put out more ink. To draw thicker lines you have to use more ink.
the V2 Flex EF Ultra write's extremely wet
Thoughtful review; thanks
Just sent two off to nib Meister. Couldn't do anything with them out of the box - fire hoses.
Hi , Teoh , happy new year for you and your family. Can you do a review of the
Opus 88 fountain pen?
Thank you.
Happy new year. Not sure if I will review that. Nowadays I tend to look for pens that can produce variety of lines.
Teoh! Great videos! When will you do the review on the mijello book palette?
I've ordered that but did not receive it yet.
Thank you for vid. Must say looks much too wet for my taste, i prefer a drier nib which is easier to control and produce fine lines.
Great video Teoh ! Thank you ! I would like to ask you if you know if this #6 EF ultra flex from FPR would fit on a Jinhao 159 that takes standard #6 nibs ???

Nice pen. :) great review.
Very enjoyable to watch, and informative too.
Do you have one with a #6 nib ? Can they be bought in the USA ? How much in USA dollars?
I don't. Maybe search jetpens or ask FPR
Which pen would you recommend for someone new to variable line pens, fude or flex nib? I was considering the Duke pen with fude and medium nibs but then I saw this one. Thank you 😊
Fude is good, and cheap
@@teohyc Thanks for the advice. Take care!
Do you have or use a fountain pen that is actually extra fin nib?
You can use any nib. It’s personal preference
It would have been much more beneficial had you done some calligraphy type writing
It's a shame you didn't review it before Christmas when they were offering a discount on them, perhaps they might offer a discount after this review?
