Very helpful tips! I'm going to start writing down things like names from now on (I find it so hard to think of character names) and also writing down quotes is a really good idea. I also like to listen to movie soundtracks as I read as well as some video game soundtracks. There's some games that have very atmospheric, dramatic, and action-like soundtracks that are just amazing, especially when writing fantasy/sci-fi. The Witcher, Skyrim, and World of Warcraft all have amazing soundtracks.
These are actually some pretty helpful tips! A lot of tips and tricks for writing I find online are all the same and most of them compare to "just write" which is not helping at all ;) Good luck with the rest of your story!!
These are some amazing tips! I especially love the one about the quotes, I'm definitely going to keep it in mind for my nanowrimo story because sometimes I struggle with finding the tone for it! Brilliant video Leo 😊
Ohh, that's a good one for the character personalities. Usually I just go through the name's... numerology? I'm not sure what's called in English. There are lots of pages to do that, and you only have to have the name of the character, which usually you already selected because it gives you a certain... vibe or something? Like, you name someone Mary, or a Lizzie, or something cute like that if you meant them to be personable characters? Well, there are numerology tests that give you a number for your name, and they tell you the personality that will most likely be reflected by that name (or something like that). There are sites that give you two sentences, and then there are other pages that if you put a bit more data, like date of birth, will give you a full analysis on how that person will be, and what are the most likely decisions they would make (like if they would incline for sentimentality, or practicality, or whatever). Any way, it gives you a good baseline, I think, and then you build from there. That's my shortcut to character personalities :)
These tips were really helpful! I love the quote idea. Also, listening to a movie soundtrack is such a great idea! I'm gonna try that. Good luck with the rest of nano
I think a way to bring a character to life is to think what his\her role is. I mean, a love interest is nice and all, but what else? Is he going to be the most or maybe the least popular in class? Usually, your most main character has a personality so you should built it around them. Is your main character to careless and you need her lover to balance her or just ass to the carelessness? Usually character has more roles than "love interest" or something liek this.
These tips were very helpful! I try to do NaNoWriMo this year, but because of school I have less time for writing and I'm so behind of track that I'm sitting in my room every day and panicking because I still need to study or do my homework, but also "have to" write. I think I will just forget about the 50'000 words goal and try to write as much as possible and then continue writing after November - I know that I won't manage to write this amount of words in the next couple of weeks considering that I only wrote 5000 till now which is really frustrating. Anyway, I hope you have a better NaNoWriMo month than I do, good luck!
I actually don't like to listen to music with lyrics, because the words distract me from the words I'm trying to write, but I've been listening to the Dr. Strange soundtrack, which is just great! Currently for NaNoWriMo I'm at 23,107 words, so it's going pretty well :)
I wrote a SoundCloud and musically subplot in my Overwatch fanfic and they trended and were so good that Nickelodeon had a vote and they were voted on to play live at the esport tournament that DVa wins later in the chapter my protags and DVa are 16 in the chapter
