Some would say Denji is a deconstruction of the shounen protagonist. No. Gon is a deconstruction. Saitama is a deconstruction. Denji is the outright DESTRUCTION of the shounen protagonist. No dreams, no moral code, no power even (his power is Pochita's, not his own). And he outright said he didn't want to deal with feelings anymore so he gave his will up and became a dog. Everyone is expendable, but not in an Attack on Titan way that you can see the struggle in the characters. I honestly don't give a shit about the horsemen of the apocalypse or some shit, Reze included (what was the point of her arc again?) Also, the gag with Kobeni stopeed being funny and is just now incredibly mean-spirited. I dig all the gore and stuff, but Chainsaw Man was emotionally draining to read.

Like you said not all people are christians and not all christians have strong faith to really believe in existence of hell. That is the reason punishment devil is stronger than hell devil. And common people in world of manga they are not aware of existence of hell (Hell where devils go after death) only higher-ups of devil hunters and devils themself know.

I love how both Gun and Chainsaw are technically super normal devils, but through technicallities ended up becoming two of the strongets of the verse. Chainsaws are scary, sure but not enough to make Pochita stronger than most weapon devils, for example. But the thing is, Pochita itself made an habit of killings devils in hell. Sure, it did this because it wanted affection, but they didn't know this. They only knew that whenever one of them asked for help, the Chainsaw Man came and killed attackers and victims alike. And so, they were afraid of it. This created the same self-feeding loop that made Gun so strong, were one causes fear, the fear makes one strong, and the strenght makes one more fearsome, and so on and so forth, but with devil's fear instead of humans. The thing is, since Devils don't normally die, but chainsaw man made them afraid of death anyway, this created a paradox that gave Chainsaw the erasure ability. This in turn, makes all devils MUCH more afraid of pochita, which makes it even stronger, on the level of the Primal Devils. All the while being technically not even a weapon, but a simple woodcutting tool. Genius.

I can't wait until this Manga gets a Anime series, just reading chapter 1 got me hooked on its premise. Also all of the characters are fun although most of them get killed. Also the power system is pretty freaking awesome. So in general this is a awesome series and you should read it.

I believe makima is surprisingly weaker than her current state because the "control" devil is essentially a parasite. Strip her of all her control and she'd be a bottom feeder. And from the looks of it, it's impossible to control the darkness devil I also love how a lot of the darkness devils weird traits are just nods to the fear of darkness. You hear that ribbit sound if a frog. When you go to a park with a lake or a river and it's dark, you'd hear the frog and never see it. I was hoping you'd mentioned the dark devils entrance being a road pathed in the corpses of astronauts. I don't think that's how makimas control devil works. She gets power collectively from everyone in the world, not herself personally. For example she has the entire population of Japan under her control, by making a deal with the president that replaces her damage to them, she essentially has control over all of Japan. Fear is another form of control, she has Russia, China and USA all collectively fearing her and thus they are under her control. Not to mention the everyday fear of control from people such as conspiracy theorists, liberators, rebels and more. Who doesn't fear having their life controlled and out of their hands. Untill people are truly feeling free Makima is the most powerful. You can't really underestimate her.
About the darkness devil and its noises, I think it makes a lot of sense for the darkness devil. What makes someone afraid of the dark? Well a few things, but among them is hearing noises and not knowing what or where it comes from, entities that maybe could hurt you that you are unaware of. Darkness takes away your ability to comprehend, it makes so much sense that the darkness devil would make a sound that would cause something unseen and unexplainable happen to you. Its really a great way to convey that this is the primal fear of darkness.
It was stated that the last thing a devil heard before they die is a chainsaw. Unfortunately, Makima has been turning him into a hero to the people of the world and is losing almost all of his power. I havent seen the latest chapter though so that may have changed.

I think having Devils fear you gives you more of a power boost than having humans fear you. Either that or there is more Devils than humans and more Devils are afraid of Pochita than humans are afraid of Chainsaws. That’s probably why Denjita is so strong

Rewatching this and I have an idea. Maybe the reason the Chainsaw Devil is the strongest and even when humans weren't scared of it, it was still really strong. Because the Chainsaw Devil isn't a devil powered and embodying human fear but the absolute fear that the Devil's themselves feel. Like human fear many things but Devils they feel the Chainsaw.
My theory is that it isnt actually the chainsaw devil but actually the death devil, since we know that when devils die they hear a chainsaw. Not a whole lot of evidence but that's just my wild guess, that could also be why makima wanted denji so badly, and if that is the case he probably has a whole lot of other abilities we haven't seen yet like the new form he got.

I have a theory that the chainsaw devil is actually the devil of Loss or Death, simply because of it's ability to devour things and erase them from existence, that and the grim reaper's tool is a scyth, which is also a gardening utensil like a chainsaw, and is mainly portrayed as beheading people.
....Actually yeah, and the fact that the first devil we she him fighting against in the series is the Zombie devil. He brought death back to the undead. You gotta remember that these Devils are in different forms, Fiend(reincarnation on Earth using a corpse), True Form(strongest) and the Hybrids that seat in between. So Makima being this powerful only being a Fiend is crazy. PS: Events/Fear get forgotten/erased when CSM eats their devils, not when they die, if they die they just return to Hell with no memories(and the same happens for them to return through the usual means).

When you read this remember to take your time. Do not speedread. The author is not like other Shonen Jump authors who hold your hand and explain everything in detail. Chainsaw Man author loves explaining through his artwork, sometimes with zero dialogue.

I think the final devil will be literally called “The fear devil” doesn’t matter who you are, no matter what you are scared of what you are scared of, if u get over that fear then that means you aren’t scared of the thing you were scared of (eg blood or guns) but you are still scared of what you are scared of, you can’t not fear fear, only the things you were scared of. Because of that I think the fear devil will be the final devil because if Denji kills the fear devil and erases the concept of fear, then no one will ever be afraid of anything, meaning devils will be unable to exist and that is the only real way I can think this story ends

We dint know how strong the Hell Devil is either. We see a from from it being summoned from only seized people, but small glimpses of its true form when its big hand takes others to another dimension. Edit: If you’re caught up, you should know that the Death Devil is the only path after the end of life that the Chainsaw Devil couldn’t defeat and eat, and is super strong. I don’t think it’s as strong as the Chainsaw though since it has implied it ran away. Chainsaw Man is one of those series you have to pay attention to very carefully Tekking, and very focused on visuals. Reading it weekly and dissecting it over time has helped a lot though. I would recommend a reread and going and seeing what the Reddit discussions are, very thoughtful for this specific series and the subreddit is full of very talented people, as people love to dissect what’s going on as well.
Nah Chainsaw devil is definitely the strongest. AS he is the only devil able to permanently kill other devils it means that in the grand scheme of things the chainsaw devil will eventually win, all the other devils can do is delay their death.

What I mean is that they can never fully kill the chainsaw devil as it will come back to Hell when it dies on earth, letting it fight them again. I can't wait until this Manga gets a Anime series, just reading chapter 1 got me hooked on its premise. Also all of the characters are fun although most of them get killed. Also the power system is pretty freaking awesome. So in general this is a awesome series and you should read it.

I believe makima is surprisingly weaker than her current state because the "control" devil is essentially a parasite. Strip her of all her control and she'd be a bottom feeder. And from the looks of it, it's impossible to control the darkness devil
I also love how a lot of the darkness devils weird traits are just nods to the fear of darkness. You hear that ribbit sound if a frog. When you go to a park with a lake or a river and it's dark, you'd hear the frog and never see it. I was hoping you'd mentioned the dark devils entrance being a road pathed in the corpses of astronauts. I remember someone mentioning all the astronauts present represented the exact number of astronauts that died in space

I don't think that's how makimas control devil works. She gets power collectively from everyone in the world, not herself personally. For example she has the entire population of Japan under her control, by making a deal with the president that replaces her damage to them, she essentially has control over all of Japan.
Fear is another form of control, she has Russia, China and USA all collectively fearing her and thus they are under her control. Not to mention the everyday fear of control from people such as conspiracy theorists, liberators, rebels and more. Who doesn't fear having their life controlled and out of their hands.
Untill people are truly feeling free Makima is the most powerful. You can't really underestimate her.

About the darkness devil and its noises, I think it makes a lot of sense for the darkness devil. What makes someone afraid of the dark? Well a few things, but among them is hearing noises and not knowing what or where it comes from, entities that maybe could hurt you that you are unaware of. Darkness takes away your ability to comprehend, it makes so much sense that the darkness devil would make a sound that would cause something unseen and unexplainable happen to you. Its really a great way to convey that this is the primal fear of darkness.

My theory is that it isnt actually the chainsaw devil but actually the death devil, since we know that when devils die they hear a chainsaw. Not a whole lot of evidence but that's just my wild guess, that could also be why makima wanted denji so badly, and if that is the case he probably has a whole lot of other abilities we haven't seen yet like the new form he got.

You gotta remember that these Devils are in different forms, Fiend(reincarnation on Earth using a corpse), True Form(strongest) and the Hybrids that seat in between.

PS: Events/Fear get forgotten/erased when CSM eats their devils, not when they die, if they die they just return to Hell with no memories(and the same happens for them to return through the usual means).

When you read this remember to take your time. Do not speedread. The author is not like other Shonen Jump authors who hold your hand and explain everything in detail. Chainsaw Man author loves explaining through his artwork, sometimes with zero dialogue.

I feel like the reason, the hell devil and darkness devil aren’t the strongest is because of people who aren’t afraid of it, in the hell devils case there are literally a majority of people who don’t believe in it. I think the final devil will be literally called “The fear devil” doesn’t matter who you are, no matter what you are scared of what you are scared of, if u get over that fear then that means you aren’t scared of the thing you were scared of (eg blood or guns) but you are still scared of what you are scared of, you can’t not fear fear, only the things you were scared of. Because of that I think the fear devil will be the final devil because if Denji kills the fear devil and erases the concept of fear, then no one will ever be afraid of anything, meaning devils will be unable to exist and that is the only real way I can think this story ends

We dint know how strong the Hell Devil is either. We see a from from it being summoned from only seized people, but small glimpses of its true form when its big hand takes others to another dimension.
Edit: If you’re caught up, you should know that the Death Devil is the only path after the end of life that the Chainsaw Devil couldn’t defeat and eat, and is super strong. I don’t think it’s as strong as the Chainsaw though since it has implied it ran away.
Chainsaw Man is one of those series you have to pay attention to very carefully Tekking, and very focused on visuals. Reading it weekly and dissecting it over time has helped a lot though.
I would recommend a reread and going and seeing what the Reddit discussions are, very thoughtful for this specific series and the subreddit is full of very talented people, as people love to dissect what’s going on as well.

Nah Chainsaw devil is definitely the strongest. AS he is the only devil able to permanently kill other devils it means that in the grand scheme of things the chainsaw devil will eventually win, all the other devils can do is delay their death.

What I mean is that they can never fully kill the chainsaw devil as it will come back to Hell when it dies on earth, letting it fight them again. Whereas if the chainsaw devil kills a devil they don't go to earth they just disappear.
