MR2 FREEDOM 2023, Part 1: The Morning Cruise

We were very excited to take part in one of the largest MR2 meets in recent history here in NorCal! Not having done a major meet in several years, this one was big, combining forces with NorCal and SoCal MR2s and even cars from Canada and other states coming out to join us. I woke up early and rolled out to Hayward Airport to meet up with the other MR2 owners and enthusiasts and took part in the pre-meet morning cruise, which took us out to Livermore for a breakfast stop, a chance to preview each others cars, and then a more scenic drive through the canyons on the way back to the Hayward Airport for the main meet event (to be covered in Part 2). What a great event and fantastic experience hanging out and driving with the wonderful MR2 community.

This was a great event! Super funny seeing so many clips I got into. (I was in the blue aw11) Really cool going for a cruise with so many mr2's at once!

Damn... the red MKII at 10:34... I would swear that is my old car. I mounted 1992 Celica mirrors on mine shortly after I bought it in 1999, and I'd never seen them on another MR2. I kept the car fairly OEM for the 17 years I owned it (except clear corners, tail light upgrade, TSW wheels, and a 2" drop), but sadly sold it to a guy in the Bay Area around 2016. I still miss that car. :(

False alarm... I was so focused on the mirrors that I didn't notice this one has a sunroof. Mine had T-tops. Not my old car. Sorry everybody. hahah. Well then, this is the only other MKII I've ever seen with Celica mirrors installed. :P
