    Agastache is one of the best pollinator plants you can add to your 2024 pollinator garden. I forgot to mention in the video, if you grow this plant from seed in the spring it may not bloom the first season. I have had it bloom the first season when I winter sowed it in a milk jug, but not always. If you buy a potted plant from your local nursery or big box store it should bloom the first season.
    Knophia should be Kniphofia

    I love Agastache of all kinds and they are one of the easiest plants to propagate from stem cuttings stuck into a pot of soil

      Thanks for commenting. I will have to try propagating from stem cuttings this year. Any tips would be appreciated.😊

    I raise honeybees and this is the #1 plant for my bees. They absolutely love it! Bumblebees also like this plant. This plant requires very little care and lasts from late spring until first frost. If I had to chose only one plant for my bees Anise Hyssop would be the one! This year I'm adding several varieties of Salvia to bring in more hummingbirds.

      I don't raise honey bees, but they sure do like my plants. Thanks for commenting.

    Love this plant. I did spring sowing of the seeds in milk jugs last year. I ended up with 10 plants that I transplanted to my pollinator garden. They bloomed all summer long. The bees, butterflies and hummingbirds loved them. I just noticed they’re starting to put out leaves for this year. I’m in the NE Georgia mountains. Previously zone 7b, now 8.

    I saw a Zebra swallowtail butterfly on Blue Fortune and have loved it ever since. Mine grew five feet tall last year.

    Thank you so much for this and greetings from Southern England. This is one of my favourite plants as, apart from being beautiful and wonderful for pollinators, I also find that it stands nice and erect. I favour the 'Black Adder' variety and will add more XXL plug plants in the early spring. I am VERY envious that you have hummingbirds, it's my dream to see one one day. I look forward to your future videos and thanks again. Melanie

    Hi Cathy, I live in NW burb of Chicago, similar growing zone to you. Last summer was first full summer of blue fortune in my garden. You are so right in calling it a great pollinator plant. I mostly had bees, but for such a long part of the season . It was delightful!

    I'm in Oregon so I grew an Agastache native to the mountain west from seed last year, Agastache urticafolia (nettle leafed hyssop or "horsemint") -- I'm hoping it blooms this year, seems to have survived the winter ok and I can't wait to see it grow!! 😁

    That's a nice video and Blue Fortune does attract polinators, but it is not native to North America. Agastache foeniculum (which is native) has been crossed with the Korean species, Agastache rugosa to produce the hybrid Blue Fortune.

      How does that affect pollinators?

    • @CEGNatives
      @CEGNatives  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It may not attract as many native pollinators, but mine is always covered with honey bees, Bumble bees, humming birds, and other small pollinating insects. I know hummers and honey bees are not native, but I don't know if the other insects are natives or not.
