This song addresses the prescription of antidepressants/mental health meds that are prescribed to help depression and the feelings you have when you are on or off those meds. Depression can make you feel dead while alive but often times antidepressants can numb people to the point they’re “floating chalk outlines.” People may want to stop taking the meds because of how it makes them feel, but are afraid of the cycle of mental health relapses when they don’t take their meds so, when it’s such a “beautiful day, you take it just in case.”

MADLY TALENTED, songwriter, singer, makes her beats herself, makes her costumes herself AND gave a huge middle finger to the corporate music industry. Like Ren, she is genre bending and totally unique. I love her so much. You should check out Fingers Live for Hunger Tv. It’s frigging awesome. This song weaves both tragedy and truth together in that while medications can help, the side effects can be destructive. They can linger and complicate the bigger “issues” being masked by the temporary relief that prescription medication can provide. It’s truly a bittersweet tragedy…

Another interesting and AWESOME thing about Chinchilla is that, imo, her LIVE performances are better than studio versions. We all know musicians that sound good in the studio and suck live. Never never never the case with these two. Every time one of her studio recordings comes up on my playlist, I almost always will then load up the live version. I’m not saying the studio versions are bad, but the live versions are absolutely stunning.
For a song focused on addiction, check out Jelly Roll song Save Me. He also sings the Save me song with Eminem.. so if you haven't checked those out.. they are good ones, for sure.
Since Ren had lyme disease and not a mental illness the meds I assume were never really effective at all and the side effects often leave people feeling like a zombie.. its a real challenge.. because there are some mental conditions that are very helpful.. but often it takes going through a few different meds and careful observation to find the right combination of meds. My wife often would be doing really well on the meds.. but she would feel like she had no emotions.. problems would come when she looked at it the way you look at a cold.. when she would be feeling good.. she often would then stop taking the meds feeling that she didn't need them anymore and then a few months later the paranoia would come back.. and she wouldn't tell anyone she stopped taking them so it created a lot of misunderstandings and more challenges for the doctor. I feel awful for Ren because he really was never supposed to be on those meds.. it's tough though for me because i know that when they finally found the right meds.. my wife.. the woman i married came back.. but when she went off them she became someone else.. but she would claim to feel better off the meds.. but she would just get worse.. how do you tell someone they need to take something that they are convinced it makes them feel like a zombie.. its really a difficult line to walk.. i appreciate that Ren will address subjects like this.. this song helps me to have a better understanding of why she would always want to get away from pills that to myself and everyone around her could see were very helpful. Clearly she felt similar to this song and it made her wonder what life would even be like if she was ok? Difficult emotions to process for anyone. I love their song together called how to be me.. I can relate to it.. i definitely have forgotten how to be me.. I have glimpses.. and Ren has had a serious positive impact on my mental health.. Hi Ren pulled me from a deep depression.. got me to look at things from a different perspective.. i think perspective is a critical part of life.. how you look at things often dictates how you react to things in life. Found Ren about 11 months ago.. since I have dropped 120 pounds.. sadly still have a long way to go.. but I have Hope which i had lost for a stretch of time.
