the gokstadt ship, while being seaworthy and relatively big, was wider and slower than the ships vikings (raiders) would have used... the Gokstadt ship is more of an "intermediary" between warship and merchant vessel, and the exquisite decorations would suggest she was actually a royal yacht! the Knarr was a merchant vessel, the Snek was lightly built and perfect for raids... could even be carried over land despite it's length of 15-20m! the Drakkars were large warships, not many of those were ever built, the largest drakkar was Omen lange, the long snake, she was more than 50m long depending on who you ask and had up to 80 oarsmen! the karve was yet another type, a scaled down drakkar, the well known Oseberg ship is a great example!
An excellent and very watchable video showcasing what are obviously your very considerable skills. I have purchased the Pavel Nikitin example Viking ship also in 1/25 as a first build! What was I thinking? I’m hoping some of what you do here will help me along the way.
Thank you, John. I only used wood glue for planking. For the difficult spots, I used short thick wood strips and clamps together. Only few pins at the bow the stern areas. Enjoy your build.
Hello. I have Billing Boats NORDLAND BÅDEN " 416 " in the works I'm stuck with the ship, could you make a compilation video of that ship, especially the planking
It is on my build list but will take some time. There are couple good build logs on the shipofscale and shipmodelworld forums, you may check them out. Good luck building!
You certainly know how to build ! But the kit itself is unfortunately primitive...( Try to build a dracar ‘Oseberg’ of our production, you will see the difference in the kits yourself...).

In difficult spots where you couldn't fit clamps or they were too tough to use, did you use any superglue... or maybe pins? Very nice build anyway.

Love it!
Great video. I would like to get the Viking boat from Pavel Nitkin.
Thanks. I will build the Pavel Nitkin Viking boat later. Enjoy your build.
@@EZmodelingPlease do. Soon! I don’t suppose you have an estimate of when? It would be of great help to me, as previously suggested.🙏🏻.

@@EZmodeling Thanks
Just curious, how did you pretreat your thread to give it that look? The model looks amazing by the way!
Thanks. I upgraded the riggings from my Amati build leftovers. You can also dye and then wax the threads from Billings.
live like 2 km from oseberg ship
YO there's a maritime festival tomorrow at richmond, are you going
I will be there Sunday
@@EZmodeling I saw your models at the festival, they are amazing 🤩!
