Just got a Williams pinball machine. Your videos are a blessing, as this is the first time trying to bring back life to an old machine. THANKS A TON FOR YOUR HELP.
Loved your video, you used common sense on the repairs and reasoned out the problems, I have worked on these for about 55 years and found lots of problems from age that didn't happen when we were operating them on location. I noticed that some of your problems were from someone fooling with it that didn't know what they were doing, which I have found common too. I have found from experience that usually the bottom contacts on a stack are the most likely ones to be out of adjustment from normal use, particularly on a trip bank from all the vibration! Magic City is a good old single player game!!
Hi I don't own an EM pin, and this is the first video I've seen! Really impressed with your explanation of everything, and great to see you fixed all issues. Keep up the good work and thanks for helping others!
Fantastic video. The fixes are seemingly simple but finding the problems clearly can take some work. I am about to start work on a one owner 1967 Shangri-La machine.
Great video, fantastic to see all the wonderful electro mechanics, and not integrated circuits Thanks for taking the time to make the video and share it ☺️☺️
Bally score reels are a snap. They were one of the first things I had to learn in the hobby. Good vid. Great for those that have not had to tear into them before.
Thank You!!! Listening to your thought process taught me to slooooooow way down and be much more patient in my repairs. I am now much better at tracing (and my repair-success rate has improved a lot). Thanks again, dave in austin, texas
Again, great stuff! I don't yet own an EM, but this is a solid foundation for chasing down all sorts of common problems that I hear people talking about. Thanks for putting the time in to make these videos!
Wow ! Awesome video. Thanks. Wish the lighting could have been better. Just picked up this exact machine and we're close to getting it up and running, however, we have some issues. You're presentation helps. We've needed to clean, lube, and replace. I have a few things to check.
This is an absolutely fantastic video. Thank you very much for documenting the repair of this machine in such detail. Its looking like I've got a gottlieb EM machine coming my way in the next couple months, and this video is a great reference for many things to look for when tuning up the machine.
I just bought my first EM and no nothing about repairs, so thank you for the video's! I'm sure I will be using them a lot. The machine won't reset and the starter motor just runs. Looking forward to get my hands dirty!
Very educational and interesting. I love electronics, but suck at the "physics and/or electronics" behind knowing how to repair them. Hence, why I am only an observer. Wish I had your knowledge and capability. Looks like a fun job. Electronics Detective/Technician. Great job man.
Thank you, great video. I was looking for a reference to why my EM would not stop running, and you pointed me to the reset feature. I'm going to give it a clean up and see what happens.
+Bettie811 sorry for the late reply.. depending on the required repair. If only some solenoids or parts on the playfield require repair, then certainly yes. If the system is not working at all or the cabinet is heavily damaged.. you have to decide. But it's a low risk.
I would change out the fuse blocks with new ones. That is what I did with my customers fuse block. I did leave the 8amp slo-blow in the head. But the ones in the cab one of the fuse holders was completely burned and they had hacked in another fuse holder on the top left of it. It looks much nicer now. I don't know about the lubricating the spiders and stuff over time it will just gum up again. And I have found that you might as well go through all the coils and stepper units and clean them as most EMs people have greased them up and they stick.
I've got a 1966 Williams Hot Line and I had quite a time with the score reel sticking on 9. The springs have to be the exact right tension, too weak and the reel won't work, and too tight, the coil will get hot
Que projeto de engenharia interessante! Como esse sistema é complexo. Muitos fios, relés...nada eletrônico. Muito diferente que possuí aqui no Brasil.(taito) modelo oba-oba. Sempre assisto seus vídeos. Aprendo bastante.
hey i have a magic town pinball version the add a ball version of yours, Im at the point where im pulling my hare out. the 100's unit is carrying over score but when i get special when lit it wont give 100 points. i was wondering if you could send me a pic of the 100 relay wiring on the back of your pinball cab.
Man, I would love to, but I'm afraid I sold the machine a while back! You can try pinside.com forums or google forums, I'll bet there's someone there that can get you the pic. Sorry!

Fascinating video. I like how you explain the way the parts work.
Thank you, great video. I was looking for a reference to why my EM would not stop running, and you pointed me to the reset feature. I'm going to give it a clean up and see what happens.
Fantastic EM trouble shooting video! Thanks for sharing.
Gave me some good insights to repair my Interflip Dragon (has the same reset problems, sometimes it gets stuck in an endless reset loop). Thanks !
IM getting a dragon this weekend. are all the game mechanics simalar to these how to videos? is a $150 a fair price for a dragon needing repair?
