I've watched a number of these videos, and my initial thoughts were along the lines of "fence the touists out". But having tried to put myself in the place of the guards: they have to stand there for an hour at a stretch - I suspect they would find it less tedious to have the stimulus of the passers-by to deal with than to be left in lonely isolation behind bars.
