    Hi from Australia 👋 You said that so beautifully. It resonates with our individual origins and our collective origin at the same time, which is extremely powerful. Just a stunning piece of art from a stunning man. Hope it gets an Oscars nod. Fingers crossed Stan ❤

    Kia ora / Hello - Thank you for your emotional reaction. I am aware of how powerful listening to another language can be especially when it is not your language of origin. I am New Zealand Māori and Stan is singing in our native language. It is indeed a call for people to claim their identity (whatever it may be) and be proud of who you are and where you come from, and "what you stand for". Culture and what it means to a person, is everything in this song. Beautiful reaction to Stan's exquisite performance and his creation of this wonderful song.

      I agree. "The whole world needs to see and here this song."". Your reaction touched my heart. I am old, white and don't really know what my ancestors cultures are because it has been so polluted for so long over the centuries, and no longer live in their Indigenous identity. Nevertheless, my ancestors call me through this song. I get goose bumps everytime I hear it. Stan is extraordinary with a powerful gift of music and artistry. He co-wrote the song and the conception , direction, costuming of the video are Stan's and he co-edited it. Ava Duvernay is putting Stan's somg forward for nomination for Best Song at the next Academy Awards. Part of my spirit lives in New Zealand and I support our Maori brothers and sisters in the backwards steps their mew Govt is taking it. Stand strong.

    In our country of New Zealand Stan is speaking Māori the new government is trying to destroy our language

  • @nakinz109
    @nakinz109 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    And you should be very, very proud. I'm proud to be a multiracial Maori. Cos all Maori today are biracial or multiracial and we are probably one of a few, if not the only indigenous peoples to not have any original line left. What we do have is descendants in every nation. So when someone hurts us, they're hurting you and themselves.
    This tends to be the reason why Maori are well liked across the globe.
    What bothers me most is how people in different nations see something on the news, media - whatever, and respond with pity, empathy and sympathy but come to what's happening in our own backyards, the one who sympathizes with another are usually part of the instigating at home. I hate it.
    Maori have fought harder than most. We never succumb to slavery, never gave up our nation. We wanted a partnership and it was working but as usual Europeans gave in to greed as more arrived. And still they couldn't over power them with their guns and cannons. What it took for them to finally get us was what we've all been through recently and currently - a pandemic. Because europeans were filthy, barely washed and were unhygienic they also brought with them the filth, viruses, bugs, rodents, diseases and stds. And it happened on every colonised nation.
    The so called Christians beat our great grandparents for even speaking their Maori names and they never wanted their kids to go through it so the majority of 2 to 3 generations lost our culture. We've worked hard for decades to get it all back. Now this current govt now wants to rip part of it away again.
    We ain't gonna go down easily again. Why? Because of that fact we have descendants in every country who are your kin and ours. And they have gone to social media and putting it out there.
    So yes. Be very proud of who you are and who you are yet to become.
