      So I looked into different ways of doing this and found that the easiest and lest intrusive way was to unplug one of the two hood sensors. All it does is pop up a warning that auto start is unavailable and that's it. Video goes up tomorrow showing how to do it.

    12:40 $39,000! I got a 2021 for $31,500. The difference is that I went with the base level, only adding the tow package, running boards, AT tires with the anti slip differential. I also got the Sarge Green color but that was it. I might regret not getting the air conditioner. The automatic would have cost me 3000. Forget that. And I'm glad I have manual windows and locks. Less to go wrong.

    About the manual gears: it's down to upshift because physically, when you accelerate, you lean back in your seat. And when you brake, your body leans forward. Which is why downshift is up. Makes sense?

    • @adventure1887
      @adventure1887  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I can see that. I guess from riding motorcycles so much, up to up shift and down to down shift, is how I relate to non H pattern manuals. Got in a car one time with flappy paddles on the steering wheel and that really messed with me, think it was right to up shift and left to down shift.

    • @jaybou007
      @jaybou007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adventure1887 I see what you mean. That being said, I also wanted to be up-is-shift/down-is-downshit before. Got a MK6 GTI with a DSG that was like that. But on track day, when you physically fight your shifter, you really wish for it to be down-is-shift/up-is-downshift. Really makes sense when you're beating the hell out of it, I guess.
      Pretty nice Sport S specs, by the way. I see you had regrets picking up this color. Is it easier to clean than you expected on the long run or it's a mess to deal with?

    i have a 2020 JL Sport S 2 door in black and i put on 35s and fuel tritons on stock suspension and there is no rubbing. once you start modding it, you’ll fall in love with it. i traded in my 2017 JK unlimited that was fully built up and regretted it but now that i started nodding this one i love it even more.

    The JL looks very much the same size as my CJ7 I bought new in 1986. I ordered a JL two weeks ago. Took my CJ7 window sticker and said to the sales guy build me one like it. Ordered it with the 6 speed manual transmission, soft top and air conditioning. That’s it. Stuck with the old steel wheels. Cost came to a little over $32,000. That’s a far cry from my CJ7 Renegade price I paid $11,843 way back then.

    • @adventure1887
      @adventure1887  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the good thing about that CJ7 is its still worth about the same amount in the right condition / mods . lol I wondering if these JLs are going to be able to hold their value like some of the previous models

      @@adventure1887 It’s got a good 3.6 liter 6 cylinder as long as you use super unleaded gas. Word is it suffers from pre detonation because of its high compression ratio. I use only synthetic oil too. It’s got an aluminum body which is a far cry from the CJ7 steel tub which rusted after three years.

    Hi, do all these models leak when It rains? I don't have a garage. Thanks

    • @adventure1887
      @adventure1887  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I've only had the 3 piece hard tops and the way the seals are designed to drain it will divert the water to the door opening when the door is open. So basically your going to get wet when entering and exiting. If you do take the T-tops, doors and rear half off becarful not to pinch the seals cause if you do it'll leak. And another down fall to the hard tops design is the gutters that are made into the seals they're larger than most and collect dirt and debris. They will need to be cleaned out regularly if you go off-road. Getting a seal gutter clogged up normally leads to leaking into the cab. Good thing the carpet is easy to remove and there are drain plugs everywhere. My previous 3 wranglers all developed leaks at some point so i just embrace it as another "jeep thing" lol

      Good deal. 👍 all in all I'm loving it, I was and kinda still am abrasive to all the new technology in them but that's where the market is at for Jeep to compete in so. Only doing minor upgrades these JLs are a big step above the JK platform, with fitment.

    It's amazing to me that you can get the Mercedes GLB250 for the same money. Not the same off-roader, obviously. But a four door that can seat 7. for daily drivers, etc... a much more tricked out and luxurious package. Why are Wranglers SO damn expensive?

    • @adventure1887
      @adventure1887  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The only thing I can come up with is they're popularity due to the heritage and how easy they are to customize. Generally used car sales dictates what new car prices are from year to year, not including luxury or custom brands that run limited quantities. As long as people are willing to pay 20k+ for wranglers out of warranty than new prices won't change cause the depreciation is low and resale is high. And since I'm one of the suckers that's on my fourth one I have to say it's probably not going to change any time soon. They are expensive but if your going to use it for what they're capable of doing and a daily driver they're worth it new or used.

    6:54 Thats actually the correct way. If you look at any Porsche with a PDK transmission, that is how they do it also.

    • @adventure1887
      @adventure1887  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Didn't know that. These wranglers have been the only "sport shift" transmissions I've had, everything else has been manual, either H patter or 1 down and 5 up. Coming from the JK's being Left - & Right+ it was a little different, but now it feels natural.

    Is the roof really leaking every time it rains?

    • @adventure1887
      @adventure1887  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So its the way the gutter system is on the seals on the hard top, instead of directing the water away from the open door at pours right in your way. And over time they will clog and if you take the top on and off enough eventually they'll start leaking while the door is closed. The last 3 JKs I had all developed it eventually. I just chalk it up as just another "Jeep thing "

    Are you saying the roof leaks?

    • @adventure1887
      @adventure1887  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No leaks with the doors closed and T-tops on, yet. So the way the gutters are made, on the hard tops, they don't direct water away from the door opening. So when you open your door, while its raining, you'll have a stream of water pouring in. On the JK's the seals where finicky though, I had a 2017 that the passenger door started leaking due to the seal being closed with dirt on it , 2014 had a leak where the T-tops meet the front windshield after 2 years probably due to pulling them off so much and my 2011 T-tops leaked from being pinched 1 time so be careful with them and keep them clean and you shouldn't have any issues

Lol It was hard to find an earlier jk with power windows and door locks and now it's hard to find one that's all manual.
