Asian food has been here a long time. I'm 68 and we used to eat out Asian most often when I was a child. Chinese came into the goldfields of Victoria way back when. Public transport in Melbourne is great too. I think it also has the title of having the most multicultural cuisine of any city in the world!

I live in central Victoria and even our smallish town has a Chinese section at the cemetery. So many emigrated here during the gold rush days but sadly were treated very badly, as third class citizens which of course is disgraceful to us now.

Aussie here. I don't know where you live in Malaysia but my only experience there was in Sabah (Kota Kinabulu and Sandakan). I did not know how much I would miss a decent coffee until I couldn't get one. It was really terrible almost everywhere until I followed my nose one day and found an Italian restaurant that had "real" coffee in KK..heaven! Then when in Sandakan at a big hotel, I again followed my nose into a coffee lounge in a big hotel late one night. It was actually closed but the barista, hearing my Aussie accent, invited me to free coffee if I would be his taste tester to try out a few new blends he was experimenting with! I think we found the perfect coffee there so any Aussies in Sandakan - go to the Five Points Sheraton coffee lounge - maybe they still serve that coffee and you can thank me later 😂😂😂

Marickville is a suburb of Sydney, not a small town. It used to be really rough. Must have improved and gentrified. I my age group, only Italians, Greeks and of course /chinese people were very common. And less so in regional towns. But as I got older the Vietnamese and lots of others arrived. There is a lot of racism and prejudice, but in the cities most get on okay. The Chinese arrived with the forst miners, I believe. They have been here forever, and we have always had Chinese food. I remember taking a saucepan to the restaurants when I was a kid, and the Chinese restaurant would fill it with whatever, and you'd pay accordingly. I love Chinese food more than any other. Like you guys always had Indian food, and it's a British favourite. The rest is icing on the cake. Of course we had Greek and Italian food. Our coffee is Italian and that's why we are up there with the best in the world. Doner kebabs are sold everywhere, and are also one of my favourite foods. I live near two towns with a population of about 30K each, and they are about 30 to 40 mins from each other. We have all the major chain take aways, plus Chinese, Thai, Japanese (sushi), pizzerias, kebabs, etc, so you can get a lot of good food even in small places.

The best and most hilariously funny show is, "have you been paying attention." a panel of 5 great comedians answering questions from the host about recent news items. They get points for correct answers but 50% of the time they make wildly funny comments when answering the questions. The show has been going for years and won a Logie, Oz TV's highest award. I guarantee you will love it. Aussie humour at its best. When you search the name of the show, click on to a segment called, "the Barbie quiz." Chances are you'll be rolling around the floor watching it.
I'll also take this opportunity to dispel the nonsense about Australia's so-called dangerous creatures. See below.
Data from Australian bureau of statistics.
Deaths by creatures in Oz, 2008 to 2017.
    Horses and cows............77
    Other mammals.............60
    Wasps and bees...........27
    Sharks/sea creatures..26
    Snakes...................23
    Dogs.....................22
    Crocodiles..........17
    Rats...................1
    Unspecified....1
(Please note. Spiders are not on this list, that's because the last spider death was 45 years ago 1979. (Such deadly creatures eh?)
That's 254 deaths in 10 years which is 2.54 deaths per year for 25 million people.
So 2.54 deaths per year from creatures. (Over 1000 deaths per year from cars)
and 164 pedestrian deaths in 2023. So forget worrying about creatures, just be sure to look when you cross the road.
Horses and cows are mainly accidents on rural properties.
Which is safer, America or Australia?
    Wildlife deaths per year.
    US.......1 per 430,000
    Aus......1 per 1,400,000
3.2 times more chance of dying from creatures in the US compared with Australia. (not counting guns)
The takeaway is the notion that Australia is a dangerous place because of creatures is the greatest load of garbage ever told.
I died when she said "Marrickville," unless it's changed dramatically since I was there a number of years ago, it's not a place I would live in.
Melbourne and Sydney have first class Asian food. Cheers 🇦🇺🦘

I used to subscribe to their channel. They were lovely people. They stopped posting soon after they went back to the US, and I've often wondered what happened to them. As for smaller Aus towns, there are often good educational opportunities in major regional centres like Bendigo, Ballarat, Wollongong, Newcastle, Armidale, Toowoomba, Mackay, Alice Springs etc. Job market prospects are more variable; probably depends whether the field you want to work in has shortages of ppl with your skillsets.

There are plenty of great Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne from cheap eats to fine dining. My fav is Blue Chilli in Fitzroy. The cheap eats are usually near universities (RMIT in the CBD and Swinburne in the suburbs) and cater to the overseas students. Rule of thumb is if the place is full of Asian students then it is a good sign it is good food and value for money.

You need to do a video about Lightning Ridge. It’s just so Australian. Situated in outback😊 NSW, The Town is a large opal mining area, they mine for black opals, mostly people have their piece of land and their opal mine on their property. They dig the mine themselves.
Their houses are built from anything they find or bring with them, there is even a house built from bottles. There are no street signs, they have car doors with an arrow painted to show directions.
I’ve visited LR several times, it’s a unique experience. It’s just 😂so Australian. Love it. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Had a stopover in Malaysia on the way to Vietnam a few years ago, loved the green eggs.
    Is Laksa Malay?
Was my fav food until pho.
Many Asians have come here and brought the best recipes, and many other cultures too, used to have a white policy back in the 1900's but compensated for that well. Immigrants have brought so much to Australia and food is top of the list.

I lived in Marrickville (on enmore park ) for 2 Decades... Left a few year ago around covid.... It was a great place.. but snobs would put it down.... it had it all.. Artists, muso's , yes, also drug addicts) , its was such a great melting pot.... But around the mid 2010's , it become "the place" to be... Sure , some great tings happened.. But to me, The gentrification killed the whole vide.... My personal; experience....
(Trivia) I worked alot with bands.... And I think I just realised, their Pad is in a renovated factory where a carpenter was based for decades..... It was renovated, and turned into a few living quarters.... And having been working at the Enmore theatre with many, Im pretty sure thats the Stage door in the back lane....

Australia has done a very good job with immigration and integration of other ethnicities into the local population, driven by self-respect. If this wasn't the case; then we would have similar problems we see in Europe today and Pauline Hanson would be far more popular than what she is.

Marrickville is definitely not a 'small town'; it's the seat of the current Australian PM: the Marrickville Moron. It is probably a progressive, inner-city suburb where some people would feel at home, in the same way that Redfern used to be a lower socio-economic area. I'm from Brisbane, so that may be completely wrong though. 😃

The AFL Grand Final will absolutely shit all over any sporting event you've ever been to before. Most Asian takeaways/restaurants are good but if you like a good curry/Indian food you'll be hard pressed to find a good one, well for me personally I've only found 1 or 2 and I've lived in all Capital cities except for Perth over the last 30 odd years. I need to bite my tongue about reality TV programs, they're all horrible. I'm sure they found another benefit of contactless payment, there wasn't a screen before the payment screen that demanded a tip lol, I will say, there are some restaurants around that do ask for tips. If you're looking to stay in Marackville or buy there, make sure you've got a shit load of cash lol

I’m in Sydney and have recently seen good recommendations for Indian restaurants in Harris Park, one of our western suburbs. It now has a high proportion of Indian migrants, some of whom have opened good restaurants. When I’ve driven through Harris Park they’re now visibly thriving. This is similar to Leichhardt in the inner west having the nickname “Little Italy”.
