This song is so POWERFUL! I love it. Besides PTSD, I have a dear friend that suffers with schizophrenia and depression. Relatable.
It really is. I suffer from anxiety and PTSD, so I feel like this song speaks to my soul.

What I love about Shinedown is their words, this group has made so many songs and every single one has a meaning behind every verse, and it is with that edgenuity and heart that Brent Smith and his crew touches so many people. I want to personally say that this band is forever both my mom and my own favorite band, and I hope you guys are still producing long after the 20 year mark. Thank you, Shinedown.

I’ve learned to come to terms with my depression. It will never go away but it’ll only motivate me to better myself. It has hurt me and others around me. But i try to better myself every day.

The Monster is a metaphor for all mental illnesses: PTSD, depression, schizophrenia, insomnia, BPD, APD, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, substance abuse, it matters not which monster you fight. The song is bringing awareness to the fact mental illnesses are real illnesses and addressing the associated stigma.

Defidently a great band me and my dad are going to see shinedown seether and badflower in Michigan
Going on 30 and this song hits hard I suffer from severe PTSD a lot of military people/vets always come up to me and ask me if I ever served how I act and carry myself but I never have I grew up with a traumatic isolated childhood who suffered with mental health problems his entire life and was ostracized and outcasted by the entire community becuase I was born and raised in a area where it’s all about being popular and sports and being wealthy and normal I was able to finally get off the medication now that I’m older but Im still haunted and wake up everyday stuck with my past the only thing that gets me through the days are my daughter and a hopeless hope that the next day will bring me some kind of joy
This song (Like so many Shinedown songs before it) Speaks to me in volumes. This song reminds me how I felt a long time ago, before a huge life-altering event. Now, I'm a completely different person, and hearing songs like this reminds me why I needed a change, and that it's worth moving forward to put that even further behind me.
Thats what i love about Shinedown, the music speaks to so many different people for different reasons. Like for me it speaks about how my dad abused me......something my family doesn't even kno. Now i see pics of him and hes frail and about to die, and honestly i cant wait because when he does die, not only will the weight be off my shoulders but the world will know what all he did.....and then i can see the world through Diamond Eyes

As someone with a traumatic past with abuse, Depression and anxiety. This sh*t brought me to tears the first time I heard it….
As someone who was abused all his life till he moved out this song brought me to tears the first time I heard because everyone in my family wonders why I'm so secluded and my mother has little memories of what happened cuz of her substance abuse and I played this for her it brought her to tears too the message here is truly relatable and true for those like me who think they're alone you're never alone others have been there too let's fight our demons together

I relate this song to being an alcoholic. I’ve been in rehab 5 times, been forced to wear a SCRAM bracelet and even after losing everything because of alcohol, I can’t seem to hate it.

Monsters by Shinedown is a hard rock song that far from the happiest type of song. However, the well orchestrated music and excellent vocals make this a type of song turn the experience of vulnerability into something that many people with heart would carefully listen to.

This is the best Shinedown song since their album The Sound of Madness. Reminds me a lot of Leave a Whisper which is my favorite album. There are some good songs on this album but I miss this sound a lot. This will be a hit.

I try to be as peaceful as I can, but after 11 years in prison, my monsters are real! I do my best to fit back into society, but theres always that one S.O.B. that wants to push it. When that situation happens I smile to myself, and think of this song. I'm still here, for now.

People might call this just another edgy emo song but when digging deep into its meaning it IS actually a very relatable song. The stuff we go through both physically and mentally in real life are “Monstrous” and tough to deal with. Especially with what is happening with the world nowadays, this song like it’s monsters are “REAL”.😞

The first time I ever heard of Shinedown, was their concert in Arkansas. I luckily got invited along to. I have been a fan since. They’re absolutely terrific in concert, I wish to see them again someday.

My wife and I feel shinedown is easily top 3 best bands for us. We love not only the lyrics but the melodies and different sounds they are able to create and convey there message through.
My own mom tries to abusively control me. She's attacked me physically, mentally. She fractured my skull with a cooking pan when I was a kid. When I told other adults, she started telling as many lies about me as she could to justify her hate, cementing me as someone to just not interact with. Monsters damn sure are real.
Your mom sounds like a manipulator. You never deserved that. It was never your fault. Unfortunately we cant choose our parents. The best thing you can do is grow up to be a great person filled with love and to slowly release all the anger that you felt from your mom. Your mom will be shocked by how amazing you grew up to be. Be better than her, be more mature than her , she might hate it because thats how narcissistic and abusive moms can be . All i can say is, dont let her abuse change your character .
Over time you’ll learn to forgive , not because of her actions, but because of your own mental peace . Take care of yourself. This is from a stranger who went through similar abuse 🤍
Will say I was raised by a monster until I was big enough to be my monsters worst nightmare. Well after my monster woke up after I was done my monster learned to not hurt me. Because do onto others as you would like to be done onto you. And I paid them back with years worth of stuff they did to me. Sometimes you need to be the monsters monster to force them to stop. You don’t hurt the monster you make the monster know true fear.
