Hi Wayton, I was c2 before f2p, I improved a lot but was put down to c1 with the new distribution. Was just frustrating af. I improved more and now with their rank distribution I „jumped from high C1 to c3“, where in fact I just climbed 2 divisions from before season 1. This time it’s not like in og season 3
@@PRIMEVAL543 Same experience. I was high C2 in Season 14 and they placed me in.... D2 in F2P S1. Dropped 300 MMR for no reason. F2P S3 has me back in C2 (though still 100 MMR below where I was in S14). They essentially massively screwed up the F2P S1 reset. Or maybe they only did it to people named Chris.
Just want to say all of bronze now has less players than SSL, we don't need to inflate the ranks, we need to lower them globally. Bronze deserves to exist, and it shouldn't be an embarrassment
Yeah, I remember being bronze for like the first 30 hours or so. That is where you belong. The lack of skill you have at the start perfectly reflects the bronze feel. Now it's like you complete the tutorial and bam, you get silver. Practice a tiny amount and you're gold. Then get a little bit better or play smarter and you're at plat forever until your mechanics are good enough for diamond. I think starting the game now would give a lot less satisfaction from ranking up at the lower end.
@@dominickwest7558 I was in plat at that point and way overranked in terms of mechanics but managed to hold on by positioning well. I think around the middle ranks (plat) its around the same as it used to be.

Yeah this. I feel like if you place into, say, plat. You should get the bronze and silver rewards for free. Diamond would get bronze, silver, and gold. Champ would follow the same pattern and so on. Basically, you have to play through the rank below yours, then yours, then any new ranks you promote into for your final rewards. I have something like 70 hours on the season and only now got my diamond rewards.
@@DigitalJedi I agree with this. Getting placed in GC1 and having to grind from Bronze is unbelievably boring and tedious. Makes no sense at all, I got placed in GC1, I'm clearly not a Diamond, let alone a goddamn Bronze...
But I think that only getting a rank shouldn't be all u need to do to get ur rewards, u shud also have to play a decent amount, I think it's fine for the most part, 80 wins in 3 months to get SSL rewards isn't that hard, granted u are an SSL

was rising star at end of season 3 then dropped to bronze 1 div 1 lets just say it was an experience. took 3 weeks for ranks to be normal again, but only the lowest ranks for plat and higher it took way way longer. you still got the "sorry just ranking in guy" even after half of season 4 was over.

One thing to note is that, at the beginning of season 1, the mmr to reach each rank was moved up. After this update it was really only moved back to where it was originally
This isn’t true at all. Before season 1, most of the ranks were at xx95. So, for example, C3 was 1395 for the longest time. Now it’s 1315. C1 was 1195. Now it’s 1075. They did increase the mmr, but only by 20 for 2s and 40 for 3s. They overcorrected by over a hundred mmr for some ranks.
Since I continue to fail to reach my peak from Season 14, when I hit GC through a lot of grind, I am generally happy about being placed higher now. Last season I struggled to even stay in Champion, whilst my mechanics are continually improving and are better now than they have ever been.
Maybe that is actually the reason why these changes were made. A lot of people lost their ranks and Champs were stuck in Diamond and GCs were stuck in Champ. Weird that almost nobody is discussing it.
@@drakey6617 that is 100% the reason man, because it wasnt just me n this dude, there’s thousands of us that went through it, they had made it easier for lower ranked players to get placed higher when S1 came. It ruined the higher ranks. It was so frustrating queuing for a game and not knowing whether you were gonna get teammates in C1-C2 that shouldnt be in champ at all or people who should already be in GC. The last 2 seasons were the first time i was struggling in low champ in almost 4-5 seasons, i had been in C3 for the longest time and to go from that to Diamond 2 and struggling killed my motivation to keep playing

@@Leoo25 well i got suspended for 1 month because i said the word fuck too many times, apparently the word fuck is offensive and toxic. I don't think i'm coming back, i'm done with this game. They keep losing players because the game is run by devs that never play their game, and then they wonder why they keep losing so many players each much.
I am pretty sure that they did it in both preceding seasons. At the end of Season 14 I was staying stable at plat3 then after placements in season1 I found myself in D2 where I stayed for whole season. Then after placements in Season2 I was placed in D3 and after successful session I even made it to champ. I improved a bit as well, but these sharp jumps in my rank happened only at the start of seasons, the inflation must have been around two ranks here
The main difference between this reset though, is the fact that S1 and 2 post F2P had everyone shifted down in ranks if you were higher than plat. I was one of those players that just scraped into GC in S13 (in rumble) then just got GC in S14 in standard. At the end of the season I was fluctuating between GC and C3. Then after F2P happened, I was placed into D3 and got stuck in C1. S2 was more of the same, stuck in C1, peaking into C2. Now, in S3 I'm firmly in C3, grinding to get GC back. So overall, since Rocket League went free to play, I'm one rank further from the top. So the game hasn't given me GC as a consolation like what was described for og S3.
Yep, basically the same thing happened to me. At the time I was around c2/3 and after f2p I dropped to mid diamonds. It was basically like going from people who could kinda pass and make team plays to just… BALL. It was terrible and I did not play much at all. I’m finally getting back up to where I was and am getting closer to getting my first gc this season
Honestly I kinda like the season resets because sometimes it feels like youre improving but you are being held back by teammates. So it helps put into perspective what Im at. If I rank in the same thing then maybe I need to practice harder or sometimes I rank higher and it ends up being a more fun and challenging games

I can agree with a lot of this, but honestly I’d love to see another hard reset. People are always going to be in ranks they don’t deserve or ranks too low, but I think it’s been way too long for there not to be a hard reset at this point.

I can confirm, that almost every lobby i played with season 3 gc tag after the season ended, had comments on how i was a noob given gc at 400 hrs. Which was exactly the case!
I didn’t noticed the rank changes in this season but this season 3 is the worst season for trading with a lot of market crashes from the item shop, for the trade up update and the level restrictions for trading this season has been terrible for trading
i think most people dont get that the rank is just a shiny symbol and the true "rank" is your MMR. (use bakkesmod for more) cuz you dont get diamond players as mate and opoonents cuz they are diamond. they are there cuz they have a specific number behind the shininy symbol in your game menu thats pretty similar to your own number. when u get diamond or plat mates in champ are they either carried or just have a bad day.

To me ranked inflation happened again when rocket league season 1 came about again I was spending weeks and finally hit plat 1 then when that season came about I won 3 placement matches and got plat 3 div 4 in every section even my trash friend who couldn't even hit the ball hit plat it didn't feel rewarding so I haven't played since
yeah they really messed up with the placement matches by putting people way to far up the ranks. Bronze should be a rank, right now its like bottom 0.5% of players
In old season 3 I was Challenger, in season 4 I remember the hard reset, it was impossible to win a single game and after the placements matches I was bronze 1

I remember during the season 1 and 2 players in champ lobbies were pissed of because we all get a rank lower than before. I felt like psyonix just made us all lose 1 rank and i had the worst rank i ever had in like 5 months. I'm perfectly the type of player you mentionned in your video i have 1100h of rocket league and i hit gc this season. However i feel like i improved a lot and this mmr rebalancing show us the rank we should have without the mmr we lost because of the 2 previous seasons. When it was the last season before f2p i was easily champ3, after i stucked in champ 2. So i'm happy with these rank changes because the rank up tp gc was still a challenge that i achieved.
I’m on the I hate it side because I was a plat 3 div 3 of something then the season ended. Diamond div 3. I was in the platinum rank 65% of rocket league
My teammate and I get into this just about everyday, he loves the fact that his diamond symbol now is a champ symbol where I wasn't satisfied till I got champ 2, aka actual champ, which I just achieved last week woop woop. I would love a hard reset pushing everyone to the bottom of the rank before theirs (If you're diamond 3 you'd reset a Plat 1) purely because of the inflation of his ego - I mean rank... He's still a diamond but don't tell him ;)
Isn't there still a hard reset for the higher ups? Back in the old seasons all GC's would be dropped into Champion (a specific mmr) no matter how high they had climbed.
this season has been chaos for me. plat 3 was my highest last season, this season, i've went between plat 2 and diamond 3 multiple times over the same day, multiple days in a row. was hyped about nearly getting champ before i realized that i've been playing with like, 40% unranked players. and seeing +15 to mmr on a win against 2 plat 1s. not even sure why i was matched against them. this has been a very, very strange season. at least i can say i've found the hitbox i'm comfortable with now though.
So my personal opinion is that it helped in a positive way but it has its cons as well. In season 14 I was only 1 or 2 games off of GC. Once the reset happened in Season 15(Season 1) i did my placements, won 7 of the 10 of them and got placed Diamond 2, i had been struggling for the past 2 seasons to try and get back up to C3 and it was t until this season that i finally have gotten all my ranks back to where I was in Season 14, and I understand it sucks for people who were already there, but there’s thousands of us that went through the same thing i did and it has helped tremendously.
Season 4 F2P is my first season in Rocket League, so I didn't actually experience any rank reset so far, but now your video actually left me craving for a hard reset, the chaos must be awesome!
Idk about anyone else but I feel like with everyone being boosted I keep getting super inconsistent teammates. I'm by no means a perfect teammate but I feel like some players are getting boosted from gold or low plat to D2 and have no game sense or mechanics and then other games I have a really solid teammate
Most of the c1s I played with last season are still c1s. They adjusted mmr, most players that got a higher rank are losing it because they can't keep up.
Still have flashbacks of queuing up against Kro when I was a challenger and not playing the game for a full month to give the pros time to get back to GC
The rank recalibration has hit me hard this most recent reset. I spent my first 900 hours grinding from bronze 2 (my actual first rank) to diamond 1. I was thrown into upper D3 after winning 9 of my placement matches in 3v3. I held my own for a while in there and even made 2 videos where I began the grind to champ 1. Champ 1 was my 1000 hour goal. I was handed a free skip to the end of my journey. Unfortunately the reality of my skill hit hard and I lost 17 games in a row in 3v3, across about 1 week of ranked grind. This sent me from Diamond 3 div 4 to Diamond 2 div 2, where I still sit as I take a step back from the game and reevaluate how I'm playing.
I was one game away from finally getting diamond 1 last season and when the new season started I was diamond 2. I was so disgusted with the change that I stopped playing for like 2/3 weeks. They robbed me of my achievement!
My main problem with this season is me, a ~400 mmr and a similar ranked friend, will be against 400 and 700 mmr players. We get ceiling shot on in gold because we are against "unranked" plats/diamonds.
The hard reset pitted me in 3 games with MarkyDooda (2 on his team, 1 on the opposing), and neither of them was a nice experience with 3 months into the game. New concepts were introduced, shots I hadn't seen before and the toxicity given was one of a kind.
Toxic comment, in the early years of the game: You are gold Toxic comment, after the first change: You are platinum Toxic comment, since the game became free: You are Diamond
Soft resets are really good as if you are performing really well at the end of a season you have the chance to push up a couple ranks for example in season 2 where I was a gold 3 at the end of season 1 and placed in plat 2 where I was for the majority of that season
I dont even play this game anymore but I still enjoy watching these types of videos because i find them quite interesting and im still learning more about documentations and youtube and i might even start something like this in a while.
I feel like a game like clash royale does a pretty good job of resets. Its not quite a hard reset, but it can feel like one, whilst still keeping players with wildly different skill levels apart. They take the trophies or mmr and seem to add a percentage of that to a base, but this is only done with the players in the top tier of the game, so that the base "mmr" is high enough for them to push up arenas quickly.
This is... well it kind of explains things. Near the end of S2 I was stuck between D2 and D3 for a while in most game modes (did make champ 1 in Dropshot). When S3 began I basically skipped through D3 and went straight to C1. I didn't know there was a change in ranks. I thought I just powered through and leveled up my game quite a bit. Turns out I was just boosted a little... but it did come at a perfect time and boosted my confidence, which I think in turn actually did make me improve a bit.
Season 1 and Season 2 were unreasonably hard to reach a high rank. I think we are quick to forget that they reset everyone closer to the mid-line. I think Season 3 got us close to back to 'normal'. Even though it is marginally easier to reach a high rank.
tbh i was annoyed at first when they announced the rank inflation, but i think that after an initial shock, the distribution largely corrected itself. the thing that a lot of people dont realize is that you didnt really keep your mmr unless you won the majority of your placements. I finished in high c2 low c3 after season 2 and got placed about where i finished, only 100 mmr down. I won roughly half my placements. I think GC this season is still harder than it was in season 14.
@@rynomusic57 they only decreased the mmr by 100, so they definitely didn't move Plats into Champ lol. Last season 900mmr put you in Diamond 1, and now 900mmr is Diamond 2. It's only a 1 rank difference

Like the guy above me said. There is only a 100 mmr difference. If a plat 3 managed to get diamond 3 then that’s because of them improving at the game. The people you mention probably just had a bad game which happens to everyone.
Its easier for me to rank up to diamond and I hate it. I dont have the level close to champ and I also have to play with guys that are clearly not prepared for Plat-Diamond. Rank resets are the worse.
I remember getting rl on ps4 the first week it came out but I didn’t have online until season 3. I remember ending challenger 1 in season 3, being determined to get rising star next season, until they announced new ranks.
the only issue I hate is that the placements put me in a situation where people who were lower ranked were now boosted. so basically for like 7 of my placements I had a diamond on my team while I was playing champ 2s and shit. I managed to grind back to GC but still sucked.
At the beginning of season 3 I got pushed into champ 1 cause of the mmr change, and now in season 4 as I first hit GC then got the rewards it still felt really rewarding, as I still had to grind from c1 to gc. So it did not affect me too much, I just think how much it must suck for the people who grinded and just got placed into GC this season, feels bad man. The grind to champ on the other hand, it felt pointless.
I'm relatively happy with it. I never took the game seriously, even with about an entire year without RL, but at season 9 I began trying to improve as I started playing more and was quite impressed by all these pro players and high ranked players and wanted to learn how to play like them. I was in gold/low plat at season 8, always playing ranked with friends but not caring, then season 9 I hit diamond, changed my bindings and began re-learning with new inputs. Season 10 I hit D3 in all modes, got way more consistent and improved my mechanics insanely fast. Then season 11 came and I hit champ, I even reached Champ 2, and from every season since then I've been champ and got my rewards (except for season 1 f2p, because i lost interest again). I kept improving and improving, but...I would always play ranked with my friend, who now is also improving massively, but he was always a gold/plat player, and I absolutely would not smurf. I dont like smurfs so i wont be one. I was happy playing ranked at champ/diamond level with my friend who at most time, wasnt quite there yet, and even now, I still play ranked with him. But hes now diamond 2 almost diamond 3, which is in part thanks to the MMR changes, but, for me too, it means im not constantly fluctuating because I like to play ranked with my friend who is a much lower rank. We still do it to have fun, and if anything, its helped him improve massively, now hitting things he wouldnt even think hed be able to do, and hopefully this might see me hit GC and my friend hit champ.
Season 14 I finally reached Champ 1. Then FTP came along and knocked me back down to Diamond 2 where I was playing against GC titles every match. In my opinion, season 3 has restored the mmr back to what it was before ftp.
I have to say I didn't notice too much change. Me and my friends went 8-2 in placements and I went from diamond 1 to high diamond 3, but the massive win to loss ratio made it feel very deserved. Seeing as many players gained 2 ranks for free in placements I'm actually wondering how we didn't get pushed up even more
Im a new player in season 3 and have 48 hours on this game and managed to reach D1, one of the best games I have ever played hope to reach even higher ranks in the future definitely the most competitive game and when you manage to hit an amazing shot it gives such a rush
I feel like whatever they did this season fixed the ranked issues. I was GC in season 14, then they did a reset in S1 and I ended C2 and only was able to get within about 20 mmr to GC. S2 I made it to GC but only for about 5 games and never was able to get up and get my rewards. I ended low C3. This season I got my GC rewards 2 or 3 weeks ago. I felt when S1 hit I was being penalized after having finally gotten to (and ending the season at) GC. I was much better in S1/2 than I was in S14 and was really pissed to have improved significantly, really worked hard and was consistently doing training to get GC and couldn't because of whatever they did. I'm much more motivated to play now that I'm back as a GC and feel like that's where I should be. Now on to SSL!
I learned this season that resets don't really even do much... finished last season at silver 3 in dropshot because I never play it. Won 8/10 placements and still got placed as silver 3. In 2s, however, I finished last season as gold 3, won like 5 or 6 of my placements and ended up barely plat 1, which would've been gold 3 last season. So I don't really even know what the point is.
I thought I was playing bad but was keeping my rank from last season so I wasn't to worried. This makes sense, now I know I gotta get back to C3 to make it back to my old rank
That explains why I jumped from diamond 3 to champ 1 so easy... Kinda makes me feel bad tbh. Got my champ rewards but now I don't feel so great about them anymore...
The thing with new season is that they still moved everyone 100mmr down with ranks so it isn't as much of an issue. It'll change something only at end of a season, but it didn't change almost anything on start of it.

It was so frustrating queuing for a game and not knowing whether you were gonna get teammates in C1-C2 that shouldnt be in champ at all or people who should already be in GC. The last 2 seasons were the first time i was struggling in low champ in almost 4-5 seasons, i had been in C3 for the longest time and to go from that to Diamond 2 and struggling killed my motivation to keep playing

I am pretty sure that they did it in both preceding seasons. At the end of Season 14 I was staying stable at plat3 then after placements in season1 I found myself in D2 where I stayed for whole season. Then after placements in Season2 I was placed in D3 and after successful session I even made it to champ. I improved a bit as well, but these sharp jumps in my rank happened only at the start of seasons, the inflation must have been around two ranks here

The main difference between this reset though, is the fact that S1 and 2 post F2P had everyone shifted down in ranks if you were higher than plat.
I was one of those players that just scraped into GC in S13 (in rumble) then just got GC in S14 in standard. At the end of the season I was fluctuating between GC and C3. Then after F2P happened, I was placed into D3 and got stuck in C1. S2 was more of the same, stuck in C1, peaking into C2. Now, in S3 I'm firmly in C3, grinding to get GC back.
So overall, since Rocket League went free to play, I'm one rank further from the top. So the game hasn't given me GC as a consolation like what was described for og S3.
Yep, basically the same thing happened to me. At the time I was around c2/3 and after f2p I dropped to mid diamonds. It was basically like going from people who could kinda pass and make team plays to just… BALL. It was terrible and I did not play much at all. I’m finally getting back up to where I was and am getting closer to getting my first gc this season

Honestly I kinda like the season resets because sometimes it feels like youre improving but you are being held back by teammates. So it helps put into perspective what Im at. If I rank in the same thing then maybe I need to practice harder or sometimes I rank higher and it ends up being a more fun and challenging games

I can agree with a lot of this, but honestly I’d love to see another hard reset. People are always going to be in ranks they don’t deserve or ranks too low, but I think it’s been way too long for there not to be a hard reset at this point.

I can confirm, that almost every lobby i played with season 3 gc tag after the season ended, had comments on how i was a noob given gc at 400 hrs. Which was exactly the case!

i think most people dont get that the rank is just a shiny symbol and the true "rank" is your MMR. (use bakkesmod for more)
cuz you dont get diamond players as mate and opoonents cuz they are diamond. they are there cuz they have a specific number behind the shininy symbol in your game menu thats pretty similar to your own number.
when u get diamond or plat mates in champ are they either carried or just have a bad day.

To me ranked inflation happened again when rocket league season 1 came about again I was spending weeks and finally hit plat 1 then when that season came about I won 3 placement matches and got plat 3 div 4 in every section even my trash friend who couldn't even hit the ball hit plat it didn't feel rewarding so I haven't played since
yeah they really messed up with the placement matches by putting people way to far up the ranks. Bronze should be a rank, right now its like bottom 0.5% of players
In old season 3 I was Challenger, in season 4 I remember the hard reset, it was impossible to win a single game and after the placements matches I was bronze 1

My own opinion is that the ranks are cool as they are, the seasons just need to be longer than 3 or 4 months. Closer to 5 or 6 months consistantly.
I remember during the season 1 and 2 players in champ lobbies were pissed of because we all get a rank lower than before. I felt like psyonix just made us all lose 1 rank and i had the worst rank i ever had in like 5 months. I'm perfectly the type of player you mentionned in your video i have 1100h of rocket league and i hit gc this season. However i feel like i improved a lot and this mmr rebalancing show us the rank we should have without the mmr we lost because of the 2 previous seasons. When it was the last season before f2p i was easily champ3, after i stucked in champ 2.
So i'm happy with these rank changes because the rank up tp gc was still a challenge that i achieved.

My teammate and I get into this just about everyday, he loves the fact that his diamond symbol now is a champ symbol where I wasn't satisfied till I got champ 2, aka actual champ, which I just achieved last week woop woop. I would love a hard reset pushing everyone to the bottom of the rank before theirs (If you're diamond 3 you'd reset a Plat 1) purely because of the inflation of his ego - I mean rank... He's still a diamond but don't tell him ;)

Back in the old seasons all GC's would be dropped into Champion (a specific mmr) no matter how high they had climbed.
That's still a soft reset. Hard would imply they dropped down to an equal starting rank in placements (Silver for example)

this season has been chaos for me. plat 3 was my highest last season, this season, i've went between plat 2 and diamond 3 multiple times over the same day, multiple days in a row. was hyped about nearly getting champ before i realized that i've been playing with like, 40% unranked players. and seeing +15 to mmr on a win against 2 plat 1s. not even sure why i was matched against them. this has been a very, very strange season. at least i can say i've found the hitbox i'm comfortable with now though.

So my personal opinion is that it helped in a positive way but it has its cons as well. In season 14 I was only 1 or 2 games off of GC. Once the reset happened in Season 15(Season 1) i did my placements, won 7 of the 10 of them and got placed Diamond 2, i had been struggling for the past 2 seasons to try and get back up to C3 and it was t until this season that i finally have gotten all my ranks back to where I was in Season 14, and I understand it sucks for people who were already there, but there’s thousands of us that went through the same thing i did and it has helped tremendously.
Season 4 F2P is my first season in Rocket League, so I didn't actually experience any rank reset so far, but now your video actually left me craving for a hard reset, the chaos must be awesome!
Idk about anyone else but I feel like with everyone being boosted I keep getting super inconsistent teammates. I'm by no means a perfect teammate but I feel like some players are getting boosted from gold or low plat to D2 and have no game sense or mechanics and then other games I have a really solid teammate

Most of the c1s I played with last season are still c1s. They adjusted mmr, most players that got a higher rank are losing it because they can't keep up.
In my first placement game in season 4, I got placed with bronze 1 players and scored 16 goals and got 2790 points.
Still have flashbacks of queuing up against Kro when I was a challenger and not playing the game for a full month to give the pros time to get back to GC

The rank recalibration has hit me hard this most recent reset. I spent my first 900 hours grinding from bronze 2 (my actual first rank) to diamond 1. I was thrown into upper D3 after winning 9 of my placement matches in 3v3. I held my own for a while in there and even made 2 videos where I began the grind to champ 1. Champ 1 was my 1000 hour goal. I was handed a free skip to the end of my journey.
Unfortunately the reality of my skill hit hard and I lost 17 games in a row in 3v3, across about 1 week of ranked grind. This sent me from Diamond 3 div 4 to Diamond 2 div 2, where I still sit as I take a step back from the game and reevaluate how I'm playing.
This season recalibration feels right to me. We're pretty much back to s14 ranks, the last seasons were a pain for me
I was one game away from finally getting diamond 1 last season and when the new season started I was diamond 2. I was so disgusted with the change that I stopped playing for like 2/3 weeks. They robbed me of my achievement!
My main problem with this season is me, a ~400 mmr and a similar ranked friend, will be against 400 and 700 mmr players. We get ceiling shot on in gold because we are against "unranked" plats/diamonds.
The hard reset pitted me in 3 games with MarkyDooda (2 on his team, 1 on the opposing), and neither of them was a nice experience with 3 months into the game. New concepts were introduced, shots I hadn't seen before and the toxicity given was one of a kind.

Soft resets are really good as if you are performing really well at the end of a season you have the chance to push up a couple ranks for example in season 2 where I was a gold 3 at the end of season 1 and placed in plat 2 where I was for the majority of that season
I dont even play this game anymore but I still enjoy watching these types of videos because i find them quite interesting and im still learning more about documentations and youtube and i might even start something like this in a while.

I feel like a game like clash royale does a pretty good job of resets. Its not quite a hard reset, but it can feel like one, whilst still keeping players with wildly different skill levels apart. They take the trophies or mmr and seem to add a percentage of that to a base, but this is only done with the players in the top tier of the game, so that the base "mmr" is high enough for them to push up arenas quickly.
This is... well it kind of explains things. Near the end of S2 I was stuck between D2 and D3 for a while in most game modes (did make champ 1 in Dropshot). When S3 began I basically skipped through D3 and went straight to C1. I didn't know there was a change in ranks. I thought I just powered through and leveled up my game quite a bit.
Turns out I was just boosted a little... but it did come at a perfect time and boosted my confidence, which I think in turn actually did make me improve a bit.

Season 1 and Season 2 were unreasonably hard to reach a high rank. I think we are quick to forget that they reset everyone closer to the mid-line. I think Season 3 got us close to back to 'normal'. Even though it is marginally easier to reach a high rank.

tbh i was annoyed at first when they announced the rank inflation, but i think that after an initial shock, the distribution largely corrected itself. the thing that a lot of people dont realize is that you didnt really keep your mmr unless you won the majority of your placements. I finished in high c2 low c3 after season 2 and got placed about where i finished, only 100 mmr down. I won roughly half my placements. I think GC this season is still harder than it was in season 14.

@@rynomusic57 they only decreased the mmr by 100, so they definitely didn't move Plats into Champ lol. Last season 900mmr put you in Diamond 1, and now 900mmr is Diamond 2. It's only a 1 rank difference

Like the guy above me said. There is only a 100 mmr difference. If a plat 3 managed to get diamond 3 then that’s because of them improving at the game. The people you mention probably just had a bad game which happens to everyone.
Its easier for me to rank up to diamond and I hate it. I dont have the level close to champ and I also have to play with guys that are clearly not prepared for Plat-Diamond. Rank resets are the worse.
I remember getting rl on ps4 the first week it came out but I didn’t have online until season 3. I remember ending challenger 1 in season 3, being determined to get rising star next season, until they announced new ranks.
SSL wasnt touched at all so the change was completely fine. gc 1 2 3 were just inflated a lil bit
the only issue I hate is that the placements put me in a situation where people who were lower ranked were now boosted. so basically for like 7 of my placements I had a diamond on my team while I was playing champ 2s and shit. I managed to grind back to GC but still sucked.
At the beginning of season 3 I got pushed into champ 1 cause of the mmr change, and now in season 4 as I first hit GC then got the rewards it still felt really rewarding, as I still had to grind from c1 to gc. So it did not affect me too much, I just think how much it must suck for the people who grinded and just got placed into GC this season, feels bad man. The grind to champ on the other hand, it felt pointless.
I'm relatively happy with it. I never took the game seriously, even with about an entire year without RL, but at season 9 I began trying to improve as I started playing more and was quite impressed by all these pro players and high ranked players and wanted to learn how to play like them. I was in gold/low plat at season 8, always playing ranked with friends but not caring, then season 9 I hit diamond, changed my bindings and began re-learning with new inputs. Season 10 I hit D3 in all modes, got way more consistent and improved my mechanics insanely fast. Then season 11 came and I hit champ, I even reached Champ 2, and from every season since then I've been champ and got my rewards (except for season 1 f2p, because i lost interest again). I kept improving and improving, but...I would always play ranked with my friend, who now is also improving massively, but he was always a gold/plat player, and I absolutely would not smurf. I dont like smurfs so i wont be one. I was happy playing ranked at champ/diamond level with my friend who at most time, wasnt quite there yet, and even now, I still play ranked with him. But hes now diamond 2 almost diamond 3, which is in part thanks to the MMR changes, but, for me too, it means im not constantly fluctuating because I like to play ranked with my friend who is a much lower rank. We still do it to have fun, and if anything, its helped him improve massively, now hitting things he wouldnt even think hed be able to do, and hopefully this might see me hit GC and my friend hit champ.
Season 14 I finally reached Champ 1. Then FTP came along and knocked me back down to Diamond 2 where I was playing against GC titles every match. In my opinion, season 3 has restored the mmr back to what it was before ftp.
I have to say I didn't notice too much change. Me and my friends went 8-2 in placements and I went from diamond 1 to high diamond 3, but the massive win to loss ratio made it feel very deserved. Seeing as many players gained 2 ranks for free in placements I'm actually wondering how we didn't get pushed up even more

Im a new player in season 3 and have 48 hours on this game and managed to reach D1, one of the best games I have ever played hope to reach even higher ranks in the future definitely the most competitive game and when you manage to hit an amazing shot it gives such a rush
I feel like whatever they did this season fixed the ranked issues. I was GC in season 14, then they did a reset in S1 and I ended C2 and only was able to get within about 20 mmr to GC. S2 I made it to GC but only for about 5 games and never was able to get up and get my rewards. I ended low C3. This season I got my GC rewards 2 or 3 weeks ago. I felt when S1 hit I was being penalized after having finally gotten to (and ending the season at) GC. I was much better in S1/2 than I was in S14 and was really pissed to have improved significantly, really worked hard and was consistently doing training to get GC and couldn't because of whatever they did. I'm much more motivated to play now that I'm back as a GC and feel like that's where I should be. Now on to SSL!

I learned this season that resets don't really even do much... finished last season at silver 3 in dropshot because I never play it. Won 8/10 placements and still got placed as silver 3. In 2s, however, I finished last season as gold 3, won like 5 or 6 of my placements and ended up barely plat 1, which would've been gold 3 last season. So I don't really even know what the point is.
I thought I was playing bad but was keeping my rank from last season so I wasn't to worried. This makes sense, now I know I gotta get back to C3 to make it back to my old rank
That explains why I jumped from diamond 3 to champ 1 so easy... Kinda makes me feel bad tbh. Got my champ rewards but now I don't feel so great about them anymore...
The thing with new season is that they still moved everyone 100mmr down with ranks so it isn't as much of an issue. It'll change something only at end of a season, but it didn't change almost anything on start of it.
