Would a solenoid valve (3 way?) be the cause of steam coming out of the group head when I am in steam mode? Seems I have lost power in the steam wand and losing pressure and/or steam out of the group head. I have a Gaggia Coffee Classic.
Can I ask, is it a common problem for the nut holding the valve on to vibrate loose and come off? The Solenoid on my machine fell off after a recent service and burnt out, the engineer has diagnosed the cause from vibration and claims to have not touched it during service. Thanks in advance.
Many Thanks!!!! I "had" a blocked three way valve in a Larmazocco Linea (caused by too much cleaning agent in the group). Taken apart. Cleaned. Back together and working!!!
interesting stuff and you clearly know your stuff Peter. On a basic, single group machine, why would the pressure be going crazy, not settling at the typical 1.5 bar? I have checked the two release valves for cleanliness and lubrication... all seems fine, but switching back on sees the pressure go right round the clock until there is a massive release.
Thanks for the info. I am having a problem with my machine. The boiler is not filling. Pump kicks on but the water is being pumped directly out of the overflow. Could it be a solenoid issue? Any help regarding what could be the problem would be appreciated.
Hi! How are you? What can I do when only one side of the group does not come out with water and the same solenoid valve overheats? I replaced it, cleaned it and the problem persists. All the water pipes are free and the water flow reaches the normal group. Model Avant Astoria coffee machine. Thanks!
My Breville's steamer used to be a standard pump... pump... pump... pump, etc. but now it's doing pump... pump... pump pump... pump, etc. bit like an irregular heartbeat. The steamer doesn't seem to be giving enough pressure as the group head extraction and hot water pumps are working fine. Would changing the solenoid for the steamer likely fix the issue?
I have a Philips lattego 3200 I have an issue with the milk frothier it makes on cappuccino and the on the second cup it makes the noise but no air so no cup for husband Any idea
Your video is good. On startup, my espresso runs start/stop of about 5 to 10 cycles before it gets going. Is this how a failing coil would begin failure on my machine?
Thanks so much for you explanation. I cannot open the valve plunger. Seems like the lock is stuck. You have talked about a tool ( shifter) to open it . Kindly let me know what it is? I think there is calcification inside the plunger so my water is overflowing. I'm talking about the 2.02 part of this video. The part where you talk about opening the valve stem. Thanks in advance.
Hi Peter, great video. Im getting water thru the group head when group handle is empty (only the left one-right is fine), its less water than normal but when the grouphandle is loaded I get no water through at all. I can hear everything working as normal but just no pour. Could this be a clogged/dead Brew Valve/solenoid ( are they the same thing?).
I have a Rocket espresso Giotto from 2004 - water tank model/vibration pump - model with half moon pressure gauge. This machine has not been used for the last 14 years or so I turned the machine on and all appeared to be fine (I did not pull a shot) Then I checked steam wand (was fine) and then hot water nozzle and it was fine and the water was coming out of it but then after that the machine wanted to collect the water from the tank to the boiler which of course is normal But despite the noise (rather louder than I would expect knowing rockets) nothing was happening. It kept making noise and the pump was working but now water was collected and the sound did not stop until I turned the machine off. What could be wrong with the machine?
Is it possible to just change the solenoid the pice with the spring and the rubber inside the valve? Where can i find that pice? Thanks for a god vlog!
What about when no water comes though the head? Can it be blocked closed ? Can you put power to it, to check it?I found a Lilet combo, so I put a new element in it . I makes steam and the pump passes water to the stem but not the head.I can hear the pump and the relay seems to click? I'm gonna open it up.....Thank you for you video.
Thanks for all that found this early this week as I have a non working valve. Saved me time in sorting.
Thank you so much, I had doubts about this piece and now everything is clear!
Thanks so much for posting, this was very helpful in narrowing whats wrong with my espresso machine.

Thanks Peter, really clear explanation and helped me understand the issue with my machine. Great work :)
Very useful! Thanks! You have de-mystified an important bit of my Espresso machine!

how do you diagnose the valve coil with a multimeter or other method other than operational observation?
I have a question. I have two group espresso machine. The water comes very slowly only one of the groups. What is the issue?

I need to replace the piece that my 2 way solenoid sits on. Do you know the name of that part that it sits on in a Breville Dual Boiler (BES900XL)?

Mine got burnt yesterday and have failed to repair. Is it repairable or once it is done you have to replace
Hey Folks, thank you very much for this information, is very helpful.

Thanks for this Video, but where can get new solénoïde for water water of my fiamma expresso machine?

I’m having this issue now! Left one barely a trickle, right group head is fine. Did you figure out the problem?!
the electronic solenoid on the 3-way valve looks like can it be installed either way?
That third valve act more as a release valve.
I have san remo machine and for some reason the voltage goes up and after that one of the group keep running water no stoping

Nice... Good info 👌

Appreciate it used this info to fix a commercial steam machine
Very well explained. Many thanks.
how to check is burn or live?

That fixed it thanks , sticky valve.
Not heating on
Steam wand produces steam but not hot steam any ideas
Likely faulty pressurestat.
The intro was a test
Please, about how much for solenoide-valve for Victoria Arduino Venus Family? I can buy from you? Excuse for my english, I Hope understand me😄
