interesting stuff and you clearly know your stuff Peter. On a basic, single group machine, why would the pressure be going crazy, not settling at the typical 1.5 bar? I have checked the two release valves for cleanliness and lubrication... all seems fine, but switching back on sees the pressure go right round the clock until there is a massive release.

Many Thanks!!!! I "had" a blocked three way valve in a Larmazocco Linea (caused by too much cleaning agent in the group). Taken apart. Cleaned. Back together and working!!!

Your video is good. On startup, my espresso runs start/stop of about 5 to 10 cycles before it gets going. Is this how a failing coil would begin failure on my machine?

Thanks so much for you explanation. I cannot open the valve plunger. Seems like the lock is stuck. You have talked about a tool ( shifter) to open it . Kindly let me know what it is? I think there is calcification inside the plunger so my water is overflowing. I'm talking about the 2.02 part of this video. The part where you talk about opening the valve stem. Thanks in advance.

Would a solenoid valve (3 way?) be the cause of steam coming out of the group head when I am in steam mode? Seems I have lost power in the steam wand and losing pressure and/or steam out of the group head. I have a Gaggia Coffee Classic.

Thanks for the info. I am having a problem with my machine. The boiler is not filling. Pump kicks on but the water is being pumped directly out of the overflow. Could it be a solenoid issue? Any help regarding what could be the problem would be appreciated.

My Breville's steamer used to be a standard pump... pump... pump... pump, etc. but now it's doing pump... pump... pump pump... pump, etc. bit like an irregular heartbeat. The steamer doesn't seem to be giving enough pressure as the group head extraction and hot water pumps are working fine. Would changing the solenoid for the steamer likely fix the issue?
