I’ve never done any embroidery work before. Is normal thread used or is there a special kind of thread and needle?

We use embroidery thread and ordinary sewing needle for embroidery. But we can use normal sewing thread also.for normal thread take 3 or more strands for stitching ❤️

I have done some cross stitch but no embroidery and my 15yo granddaughter admired a embroided lace edged handkerchief that was given to me and I want to surprise her for her 16th birthday.
I was able to crochet the edge (just) but wanted a simple design. My hands aren’t what they used to be but this I think I can do so thankyou again
