Now thats an earnest answer. It comes through when you see them live. Not see or listen to a recorded live show but actually being there and experiencing it. He and the band live the description he gave in each performance.

There is an honesty I've always appreciated about Dave. More than that, his child like imagination that takes you away from the stresses of the world. God bless you bro!

This is why I love Dave. He's just a wonderful human. When he talks about how when the music is perfect and you're lifted out of yourself... amazing.

ANYTHING, really, where you get in that zone he refers too. Mine was cycling. And even though I don't make music, I enjoy it just like he describes - especially THEIR music

Agreed 100% ..the feeling of playing music is freedom from stress, from world things that bring you down...it's comforting, u forget all that's around and your in it, apart of it, making something beautiful

There's something so pure about Dave. He seems to genuinely love helping people, and he has such a childlike spirit that is so beautiful. He is the perfect example of how to turn your struggles into something inspirational.

Freedom! I was just at the Cincinnati concert yesterday and I was talking to my brother about how I felt the experience of freedom at my first Dave Matthews Concert! As a kid growing up I never new the sense of true freedom until I was in a crowd of Dave Matthews fans. How can I help be a part of the freedom solution!?

humans started being able to do things like gather food, grow food, hunt, make languages, and the sorts, about 13,000 years ago. however dave seems to have found songs written by humans 50,000 years ago. This is amazing.

I shouldn't presume to speak for Dave because that is a rude thing to do to anyone...but I'll take the liberty here as a fan and musician and encourage everyone interested in what Dave is talking about to check out DMB's 1998 performance of Last Stop in Chicago th-cam.com/video/yOgHBMujTCw/w-d-xo.html Watch the whole thing because the music is so good but at the 7:50 mark, you can see what an elevated artist looks like (and no, Dave is not high on anything but the music). If you want to understand what Dave is describing and what it looks like when he catches "it" with his band then there ya go....
