Rick is my uncle. he's been trying to get me into engraving for almost fifteen years. here i am getting the youtube education now, and figured one of these days i would come across someone working on one of his folders. stellar work! i love the scroll and gold inlay, and the detail of the bird is amazing.
I learn so much from a Video like this, Thank you for taking the time to make it, Your helping to keep an Art alive that was in Danger of being lost due to the lack of sharing Knowledge and Techniques in the past by a lot of Engravers who felt that they had to learn by themselves and weren't going to share anything with any one that might be in a position to take work from them in the future, ( They took it to the Grave Literally ) Thank God that this was seen as a problem when it was and groups like FEGA were formed to help new Engravers learn the Craft. Thanks again.
Very nice work and detail. Thank you! I love watching these videos. I am a jeweler with little back ground of engraving. But much beautiful jewelry custom made.
Hey, found you on engravers cafe. What's that thing you polish or sand the inlay at 1:10? And what technique did you use to transfer the image? Thank you for your time :)
+TheToxicFPS That is just 1500 (or was it 2000) grit paper glued to wood stick. Transfer was with the inkjet printed image on transparency and then rubbed on to dammar/zippo fluid covered metal. I will probably do a video about this in coming month or two. Really easy to do
@@vilts I've tried engraving on a small medium. I used 120°. but in the leaves it always goes out of line that I draw. how many degrees did you use in the video? for small media such as watches and zippo kotek how many degrees do you recommend especially for cutting back bone??
I took 1 week basic class from GRS and that got me started really well. Later on took few one on one more advanced technique classes, but these are not strictly necessary.
Wow, that's beautiful. Is there some sort of protective coating you put on the handle after engraving it to keep that beautiful image from being damaged?
@@vilts is it not difficult trying to hold stippling graver on background surface while also trying to press the palm control to activate it? I would think it's easier to hold stippling tip like a pen and operate it with foot pedal? Maybe there is easier way to do it? I'm thinking if I should buy Lindsay palm with extra foot pedal but its expensive
@@allenl9214 Not a problem. I hold it between thumb and index finger and sort of squeeze it to start working, then move around as needed. I've done so for the past 5-6 years, haven't yet felt the need for the pedal just for stippling. Maybe if you stipple many hours per day, then it would make sense, otherwise not. But people are different, I'd say first give it a try without a pedal, you can always but that later as needed.
Nothing to let me know what you are doing as there is no STARTING reference. You just jump right to it. I cannot see what is under your fingers, so I have no idea what the tools being used are. Perhaps the info is later on in the video, but I am not going to take the chance.
Yes, how incredibly rude of him not to make this a complete and extensive full training video exactly to your liking. No one can blame you for turning it off straight away, and never giving him another chance for that matter. Way to stand firm in your ignorance!

Beyond awesome. Always timeless art. Thank you for sharingm
Hello, how are you ?? I'm from Brazil and I really like this type of work, what is the name of this work and what are these tools called ??
This is engraving and the tool is graver. Air assisted/pneumatic graver.
Exceptional work! Wow!
Great jab .... 👏👏👏
fascinating , it is well done 👍🏼
Which file/burnished did you use to smoothen out the gold inlay ?
I think it was 2000 grit sandpaper glued to wood stick.
This is incredible.
amazing work.
I'm trying to get into metal engraving what tool is that?
Lindsay AirGraver.
How you inserted the wood(?) in metal handle?
That was some kind of stone. Knife was made by Rick Genovese, check out his work, maybe he shows the processes as well.

Amazing. What are these tools called
Depends on which tools do you mean. Main tool is air assisted graver.
Sehr gut. Traumhafte Arbeit. Danke für das Video. Gruß Olaf
Hi guys , I m new at engraving , where do I buy the tips for a manual machine and what are the exact name for them. Thanks in advance.
www.airgraver.com, www.grstools.com, www.engraver.com
Which machine do you use to do that wonderful job? Where it can be found/bought?
This is Lindsay AirGraver - www.airgraver.com
excellent work.
Where did you learn these skills? I've always wanted to learn engraving, but don't know where to start
I took 1 week basic class from GRS and that got me started really well. Later on took few one on one more advanced technique classes, but these are not strictly necessary.
What kind of burin are you using?, I´ve never seen those before. Congratulations!, Great work!!
It's sharpened with Lindsay Universal template, something very much like this th-cam.com/video/2-fhCOXiyYc/w-d-xo.html
Where you learned all that? It s beautifully done.
Thanks! I took 1 week basic class from GRS, few more 1-on-1 classes and then 10 years of practice.
beautiful i dont hve worlds to say
Such beautiful work! :-)
How do you transfer your pattern onto the metal?
I plan to make a video about this process soon. I get this question a lot... Very simple once you know it.
I'm looking forward to it!
eu gostaria de comprar lembranças com estas como fazer
Fantastico, vorrei avere qualcosa di simile
can you teach me sir
Beautiful work! What geometry graver are you using ?
Thanks! If I remember correctly, it was with 110deg point.
Nice work dude!
Very beautiful
I have a question!
What camera do you use for your macro filming?
Thanks.
Search for "HDMI microscope" in aliexpress, it's the one with blue body. Uses Sony sensor and outputs 720p video. Pretty good bang for the buck.
I want to buy one like this ?
Drop me an email, address is on my website.
Wow, that's beautiful. Is there some sort of protective coating you put on the handle after engraving it to keep that beautiful image from being damaged?
No, it stays as it is. Knife bolsters are of stainless steel, so it's quite tough.
Hi, do you use foot pedal or palm control?
PalmControl.
@@vilts is it easy to texture background without foot pedal?
@@allenl9214 Yes, not a problem at all.

Fantastic work,I enjoyed watching ,thank you:-)
Exceptional !!
Beautiful work
Now when ever i go to a gun show and see a knife with engraved art i will think twice about the price and why its worth it
My job here is done :)
Crazy work!! Top!
Is this real gold ?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
Yes, that is 24K gold.
VERY - VERY interesting ! ! ! ……. THANKS for the pleasure ! ! !

Vilts hello. Excellent video. Excellent work. You are with Estonia? Do you speak Russian?
+Захар Бебешко Yep, I'm in Estonia indeed. My Russian is not that good, I almost understand it :)
You know anyone in Arizona that I could take a class from?
Not really. I think closest is GRS training center. It's in Kansas, but definitely worth checking out.
Zajebiste!!! Super job! I like! Thanks!
Nu blin, thanks :)
you are a master
nice video, thank you so mush!
truly a master at work if only the blade was damascus steel
More like wootz steel!
