The "security" on the jam jar is to stop it being tampered with before sale. Sadly I have seen many packets and bottles in supermarkets that have been opened and partially consumed by someone and just left on the shelf.
That's not true the yellow square sticker on top with the 🔒that he's referring too is infact a security tag they also come in a round version these are from Tesco items I know because I work there
