I don't agree with most of Bill's politics (I do agree with him on his views about religion) but at least he's willing to actually debate conservatives unlike 99% of Liberals. He did give a taped interview. Some people are afraid of alienating their base by appearing on Real Time. I've always appreciated that Bill at least tries to get multiple points of view on the panel. Very few, if any, other shows even attempt a true debate and discussion of current events.
It's always interesting to see Republicans appear on the liberal shows. It's also refreshing to see people with opposing viewpoints get to have a more or less civil talk.

I worked with a guy from Guatemala. He used to tell ICE he was Mexican. So that he wouldn't have to travel as far to get back. He would brag about how he had walked into the Country 5 times. The 1st 2 trips with Coyotes, the 3rd he memorized the trails and water spots. He'd stay with friends on Texas. Have his Employer and family send him Cash (Western Union). And take a Greyhound back to Knoxville Tennessee. And he was one of several South American's I've met over the years who've made that trip multiple times. They work under the table for less an hour than we do. Save money by car pooling, and having lots of roommate's. Then they start a business. Where they can charge less. Because the employees are illegal. And working under the table as well. They save more money, start families (as 1 does). And start working towards citizenship for themselves and the rest of their family. They also bring over relatives to do the same. I say all this not because I'm racist. But because my trade pays basically the same today. As it did in 1993 when I started working. And illegal immigration is the main reason why. I understand completely why they come here. I've worked with, broke bread with, dated, and been friends with many a South American's. They're great people and hard workers. If I were in their situation, I'd do the same in there situation. But if we're going to help Blue collar American workers, tradesmen, Landscaper's, factory, and warehouse workers. It's going to have to start with limiting illegal immigration. And fast tracking the ones who are already here. With pathways to citizenship, and yes deportation for criminals, like Cartels, Laraza, and MS13 gangbangers.
As an immigrant from Mexico in Canada I agree with you. When I arrived here working cleaning a super market at $10 per hour I was making more money than working at an entry level job in a bank in Mexico. Of course we work for less and are ready to work more hours in worse conditions than people born in the US or Canada and we depress the salaries no doubt about it.

Personally, like a couple of others had said, I prefer it when Bill takes on a challenge, and loathe her if you will, she does have conviction in what she sees. It won't solve the whole problem becaue you still need additional ports of entry withg proper technology. So we can give him 20b to build the wall and do the other necessary things. I was introduced to Anne Coulter in college by my roommate. This roommate was also adamant that you can support a family on the minimum wage yet refused to make less than $8/hr (in 2006) or work in the food industry in a college town. She only had summer work experience in her MOTHER'S OFFICE and still received an allowance. She went to an elite private boarding school for high school and never went to public school. That was the day that I discovered money can't buy you common sense or intelligence.

Luckily they didn't see Trump become our president.

I worked with a guy from Guatemala. He used to tell ICE he was Mexican. So that he wouldn't have to travel as far to get back. He would brag about how he had walked into the Country 5 times. The 1st 2 trips with Coyotes, the 3rd he memorized the trails and water spots. He'd stay with friends on Texas. Have his Employer and family send him Cash (Western Union). And take a Greyhound back to Knoxville Tennessee.
And he was one of several South American's I've met over the years who've made that trip multiple times.
They work under the table for less an hour than we do. Save money by car pooling, and having lots of roommate's. Then they start a business. Where they can charge less. Because the employees are illegal. And working under the table as well. They save more money, start families (as 1 does). And start working towards citizenship for themselves and the rest of their family. They also bring over relatives to do the same.
I say all this not because I'm racist. But because my trade pays basically the same today. As it did in 1993 when I started working. And illegal immigration is the main reason why. I understand completely why they come here. I've worked with, broke bread with, dated, and been friends with many a South American's. They're great people and hard workers. If I were in their situation, I'd do the same in there situation.
But if we're going to help Blue collar American workers, tradesmen, Landscaper's, factory, and warehouse workers. It's going to have to start with limiting illegal immigration. And fast tracking the ones who are already here. With pathways to citizenship, and yes deportation for criminals, like Cartels, Laraza, and MS13 gangbangers.
As an immigrant from Mexico in Canada I agree with you. When I arrived here working cleaning a super market at $10 per hour I was making more money than working at an entry level job in a bank in Mexico. Of course we work for less and are ready to work more hours in worse conditions than people born in the US or Canada and we depress the salaries no doubt about it.

israeli wall is 440 miles of desert compared to almost 2000 miles of Mexico/US border which consists of desert, swamp, mountainous terrain, private property, protected wildlife areas, and protected native burial grounds. Way more logistics. Way more difficult.
Not to mention that they are in the midst (and have been since...ALWAYS) of a race war and a religious war and their CULTURE and economy is completely different. There are a LOT of factors in play over there that don't exist here and vice versa.

One of the biggest issues in stagnant wages is health care costs. Pay is " wages and benefits" not just wages. The majority of folks still get employer provided healthcare,and healthcare costs and out of pockets spiral up, the middle class will continue to get squeezed .
