Amanda Rabb was my best friend. We met in rehab. She was 9 months sober when she passed away! I learned of this channel through her. I stay in hopes that Rebecca will also find peace in recovery. Damn if I don't know how hard it is. As I still struggle with alcohol to this day. But I am fighting this fight not just for me but for Amanda too. I have her 9 months sobriety chip. Mark if anyone can help Rebecca it's you. We know she just has to be ready. Please stick by her until she is ready. If she is this amazing in this state she will be a force to reckon with once she is clear minded out of the fog of addiction. I LOVE YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO! Today my son has a sober mother. I literally yelled out, REBECCA! When I saw the video last night. I just got off of work and watching it now. I was wondering how she has been doing. Apparently, not well. But, I hope that she will start her sober journey soon.
I was just going through old videos and thought this. Right away Rebecca found safety and comfort in Mark. They still have a long way to go, but they are and will change eachothers lives drastically when it’s all said and done. I pray in a positive way.

Of all the Rebecca videos this one was the hardest watch. Something about seeing Rebecca so introverted and reserved in the "real world" really shows her true vulnerability and trauma, it made me tear up. We are so used to seeing this elaborate, full of life human and then to see her hunched over and quiet when shopping in womens stores. I did not expect that! Then we see an instant switch of her shit talking and full of life again when with Mark (I'm aware of the intersections between drug use and mental illness). I think it really shows how comfortable Mark makes her and the strength of their relationship. As with everyone else, I hope more than anything that Rebecca gets well as I think she'd have so much potential. But if not, it is really comforting to know she has small windows of joy and acceptance through her friendship with Mark. And I do believe it to be a genuine friendship, as I think sadly Mark gets so much out of the relationship as well. All the best to you both.
This was VERY hard to watch. I’m always checking for a Rebecca update but this one hit me hard. The constant denial, the horrific state she is in mentally and physically, her posture… I’m glad everybody here is so positive but I guess today I just can’t. I’m heart broken. I know it’s the reality of addiction but I just wish we could do more. Thank you Mark for your kindness, patience and the pure love you have for our friend Rebecca.

The back hump and the feet are seriously in trouble. And that’s what was just visible. I’m sure there’s more health issues physically. Please Rebecca!! Time for multiple DR visits. Its complete depletion of vitamins & minerals. Thru diet & supps she would heal. I did. Its amazing how no one seems to correlate diet, illegal and prescription drugs deplete us.
Oh please, I have dozens of friends that act just like this. I've been homeless in San Francisco for 15 yrs now. Heart broken??? If you were me you'd have to be heartbroken about 20 times a day. Horrific state? We just call it everyday life...... Funny thing is you'll sit there and talk about how hard this stuff is to watch how horrific it is yet you're the one that probably had a child or two... Meanwhile Rebecca and me we're the ones that aren't going to have any kids at all because we don't want one more person that might have to go through this....... Sorry you lead such a confused life

I think he's enabling bad behavior. Rebecca knows she can treat Mark like crap and Mark will still dish out the money for wigs, dresses, food, hotel and so forth. Why would Mark do that? Why would he put up with the bad behavior? It certainly doesn't help Rebecca for Mark to contribute to her bad behaviors. I don't think it's love, I think it's all about "like and subscribe".

I’ve watched all the Rebecca videos. I didn’t realize how invested I was in her wellness. When I saw this video show up, I screamed inside “Rebecca!!!” I didn’t know I’d have this reaction. I really wish her well. I really really wish her well.
Rebecca is the one person that I am constantly rooting for and always looking for updates and relieved that they are still on this Earth. I hope that she can love herself some day as much as we do. Thank you for bringing awareness and for all that you do for these beautiful tormented souls, Mark.

I was happy to see Rebecca was still alive. For as young as she is you can see the drugs are taking their toll on her body- her hunched over back, blood red eyes, mangled feet her ears and her mental deterioration. Mark you are so patient and kind to Rebecca and always talk to her about recovery. Hopefully, one day will be Rebecca’s journey to recovery. I hope she stays alive till that day comes. Her family did not accept her as she was.Nobody in their right state of mind chooses to live in the conditions she does without mental illness. She has obviously struggled throughout her life. Shes been made to feel guilty for being who she is which caused depression, anxiety, self hatred, & wanting to escape reality. It doesnt affect you or anyone else. Kids/young adults under 21 are a different story, but grown people are who they are. they've passed the point of brain development to know and understand their choices.
Oh, sweet Rebecca. I'm a therapist and I would not only get a provisional license in CA to see Rebecca, but I would see her for free. There is so much pain. So much trauma. So much gentleness and vulnerability. Yet, so much kindness. Imagine the resilience that has brought her this far. I find myself wondering what she would be like in recovery. What she's capable of. But she has to want it for herself more than any of us want it for her.
Like a few other people, the girl in the first store was so upsetting. She could barely be bothered to look up from her phone, and it was clear that nobody else was in there, obviously because they don't know what it's like to be human. Unbelievable.
I think you could easily find an addict ready to get clean and heal from their trauma, but facing financial hardship preventing it, if you are looking for someone to treat for free. Even right in your own state. Rebecca is ready or willing.
The fact that through everything it’s so clear that Rebecca has such a wonderful personality, I can only imagine her recovered would just be incredible hope she knows how loved she is and how many people rooting for her

The sales girl from the last store is EVERYTHING! She has the right attitude and was kind to Rebecca, the first girl from the tackydoll store could learn from her.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with setting standards and rules in a business establishment, I myself would have not wanted a drugged out filthy homeless person in my store, it is honestly bad for business and would scare off customers. Mark should have enough sense in his head to know that. I’m certain that there are charity organizations that would be able to help out with some clothing but Rebecca obviously needs dire help in other ways more so than needing clothes.
@@flowerpower4065 it's definitely a standards issue and I think, sadly, a public health issue as well, as many houseless folks struggle with fungal infections, lice, etc. that can easily be passed on through clothing/wigs. Houseless people also have very specific needs in settings like shops and stores, and serving them well really can require a specific skillset or level of experience. Your average retail worker or small business owner isn't necessarily equipped for that, and untrained people can easily upset or retraumatize a person. Like you said, there are organizations that are trained to work with these specific populations, and who can assist them best.

Rebecca needs long-term involuntary commitment where she can get a proper diagnosis, mood stabilizing meds, proper nutrition and hygiene, as well as rehab from substances.
Which are very few and far between if these programs exist at all anymore. And she likely wouldnt be accepted as she struggles w sobriety. In this country our system leaves these folks to the wolves.
Hierarchy of needs. Not an apartment... He knows. The job is a diversion. I'm glad he got the experience. He probably won't make it. He has no value system besides pain and fame. I'm not being judgy but recovery requires commitment and every right next move ... too easy to stay the same. I just cut loose a 22 year friend due to mental illness and addiction. Its a choice to stay that way as well. Croc is a bad drug... He needs ER and admission in a hospital with an advocate....

Came across this channel a few days ago and landed on rebecca's video. she is such a wonderful person.i love how she thinks, how bright she is, so aware of herself. You have so many 'fans', Rebecca, people who care about you, not what you can do for them, but because we see who you are and the incredible brain and talent you have! I am SO glad she has Mark as a touchstone and a light so she can see the path that is available. Wish I could take the weight from this lovely person's heart. Okay this interview made me cry. When mark started rubbing his back. You can see he really does love and care for not only Rebecca but every person he’s interviewed. He pours his soul into these people. He knows they come from pain and hurt and he tries to encourage them and fill them with love . Mark is a sweet and great man. I’ve been watching this channel for a very long time. And the humanity he has so effortlessly and the way he treats these people with kindness and respect. I will always adore him. We can all learn from Mark and his effortless kindness he shows everyone no matter how they dress. What they have on. What drugs they do. Or what they say. He treats them with love and respect. And it makes me cry like a baby .

Living in the streets ..no one will get sober first! The genuine love and compassion that Mark has for Rebecca truly makes my heart happy!! Yes!! EVERYTHING is SO MUCH HARDER when you are HOMELESS. Drugs are a coping mechanism. We have to ask what one is coping with? Being homeless is a LOT to cope with, of course she wants to be high 🥺💖🙏

I was just wondering about how Rebecca was doing yesterday and then I woke up to this video. I appreciate that Mark continues to show how imperfectly human we all are. I’ve learned a lot of understanding and patience for others from his videos.
My friend and I saw her in North Hollywood about a week ago. We talked to her and asked what she needed, she just wanted to find the right bus back to West Hollywood, so we gave her some cash and put her on the bus. She looked so lost, and like she’d rolled in a thorn bush the night before. It’s tough to see someone struggle like that when you know what they’re capable of.
Kind of you, but know that he'll continue struggling and squandering his potential as long as people continue to feed his delusions and drug addiction by giving him cash. God knows how much Mark has fueled already. "Rebecca" needs rehab and therapy, and then a job.

Come on Rebecca we're all rooting for you here! My best friend was on the streets for 20+ years smoking crack and selling herself. I had surrendered and gave up hope. I know now it can be done and any stage of addiction. Now she runs a peer mental health rehab facility, makes almost 6 figures, owns a home, has custody of her kid and takes care of herself and vacations regularly. You just have to decide. ❤❤❤
What I love about this... As soon as she enters the stores, she is happy, calm, looks like any woman going shopping. Notice how the F word disappears and how the feet don't hurt all of a sudden? It's words like yours that help (for example with people like Rebecca with mental problems and drug addiction) to maintain their illusions. It is part of the problem not the solution. Mark wants Rebecca to be ok, so babies him/them. I say “him/them” because Rebecca is delusional, and I don’t believe they are truly trans, just using a persona to survive. I may be wrong, but I want to respect the label trans, without making it wishy washy. If Rebecca gets clean and still feels trans, I would call Rebecca “her”. But after watching all of Rebeccas vids, from the start, I don’t think it’s the case. Merely a crutch.

How is Rebecca so compelling? I’ve watched all of Mark’s videos featuring Rebecca. Also, I’ve read lots of negative comments about Mark; his methods, his supposed motivations, his tactics, etc. Mark is an acute observer of human behavior. That skill, combined with his indisputable photographic genius, documents a segment of our society that is nearly impossible to observe in any other way. So happy to see an update on Rebecca. Ive been so anxious waiting on an update, especially after the last couple of videos prior to this one. Wasn't sure how it was going to play out. I am hoping and praying that she gets clean and turns her life around. I also wanted to say that i felt that body language that she had when you walked away after giving Rebecca the massage, she literally longed to have the physical touch just a little longer. Yep! My son was one of those people, he was a homeless paranoid schizophrenic and over time his psychosis erased us from his mind. He needed forced treatment but that is close to nonexistent today. He died at the end of May from a combination of alcohol, cannabis, and Fentanyl.

Amanda Rabb was my best friend. We met in rehab. She was 9 months sober when she passed away! I learned of this channel through her. I stay in hopes that Rebecca will also find peace in recovery. Damn if I don't know how hard it is. As I still struggle with alcohol to this day. But I am fighting this fight not just for me but for Amanda too. I have her 9 months sobriety chip. Mark if anyone can help Rebecca it's you. We know she just has to be ready. Please stick by her until she is ready. If she is this amazing in this state she will be a force to reckon with once she is clear minded out of the fog of addiction. I LOVE YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO! Today my son has a sober mother. Of all the Rebecca videos this one was the hardest watch. Something about seeing Rebecca so introverted and reserved in the "real world" really shows her true vulnerability and trauma, it made me tear up. We are so used to seeing this elaborate, full of life human and then to see her hunched over and quiet when shopping in womens stores. I did not expect that! Then we see an instant switch of her shit talking and full of life again when with Mark (I'm aware of the intersections between drug use and mental illness). I think it really shows how comfortable Mark makes her and the strength of their relationship. As with everyone else, I hope more than anything that Rebecca gets well as I think she'd have so much potential. But if not, it is really comforting to know she has small windows of joy and acceptance through her friendship with Mark. And I do believe it to be a genuine friendship, as I think sadly Mark gets so much out of the relationship as well. All the best to you both.

The constant denial, the horrific state she is in mentally and physically, her posture… I’m glad everybody here is so positive but I guess today I just can’t. I’m heart broken. I know it’s the reality of addiction but I just wish we could do more. Thank you Mark for your kindness, patience and the pure love you have for our friend Rebecca.

Her family did not accept her as she was.Nobody in their right state of mind chooses to live in the conditions she does without mental illness. She has obviously struggled throughout her life. Shes been made to feel guilty for being who she is which caused depression, anxiety, self hatred, & wanting to escape reality. It doesnt affect you or anyone else. Kids/young adults under 21 are a different story, but grown people are who they are. they've passed the point of brain development to know and understand their choices.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with setting standards and rules in a business establishment, I myself would have not wanted a drugged out filthy homeless person in my store, it is honestly bad for business and would scare off customers. Mark should have enough sense in his head to know that.
I’m certain that there are charity organizations that would be able to help out with some clothing but Rebecca obviously needs dire help in other ways more so than needing clothes.
@@flowerpower4065 it's definitely a standards issue and I think, sadly, a public health issue as well, as many houseless folks struggle with fungal infections, lice, etc. that can easily be passed on through clothing/wigs. Houseless people also have very specific needs in settings like shops and stores, and serving them well really can require a specific skillset or level of experience. Your average retail worker or small business owner isn't necessarily equipped for that, and untrained people can easily upset or retraumatize a person. Like you said, there are organizations that are trained to work with these specific populations, and who can assist them best.
This world needs more compassion and understanding.

I'm not being judgy but recovery requires commitment and every right next move ... too easy to stay the same. I just cut loose a 22 year friend due to mental illness and addiction. Its a choice to stay that way as well. Croc is a bad drug... He needs ER and admission in a hospital with an advocate....

Came across this channel a few days ago and landed on rebecca's video. she is such a wonderful person.i love how she thinks, how bright she is, so aware of herself. You have so many 'fans', Rebecca, people who care about you, not what you can do for them, but because we see who you are and the incredible brain and talent you have! I am SO glad she has Mark as a touchstone and a light so she can see the path that is available. Wish I could take the weight from this lovely person's heart. I'd donate to any funds for her to go to a good rehab,aftercare, new home set up, etc.

Okay this interview made me cry. When mark started rubbing his back. You can see he really does love and care for not only Rebecca but every person he’s interviewed. He pours his soul into these people. He knows they come from pain and hurt and he tries to encourage them and fill them with love . Mark is a sweet and great man. I’ve been watching this channel for a very long time. And the humanity he has so effortlessly and the way he treats these people with kindness and respect. I will always adore him. We can all learn from Mark and his effortless kindness he shows everyone no matter how they dress. What they have on. What drugs they do. Or what they say. He treats them with love and respect. I was just wondering about how Rebecca was doing yesterday and then I woke up to this video. I appreciate that Mark continues to show how imperfectly human we all are. I’ve learned a lot of understanding and patience for others from his videos.
I’ve been thinking about Rebecca as well for the past couple weeks. I get concerned about some of the “regular/original” people that Mark has videoed.

My friend and I saw her in North Hollywood about a week ago. We talked to her and asked what she needed, she just wanted to find the right bus back to West Hollywood, so we gave her some cash and put her on the bus. She looked so lost, and like she’d rolled in a thorn bush the night before. It’s tough to see someone struggle like that when you know what they’re capable of.

Come on Rebecca we're all rooting for you here! My best friend was on the streets for 20+ years smoking crack and selling herself. I had surrendered and gave up hope. I know now it can be done and any stage of addiction. Now she runs a peer mental health rehab facility, makes almost 6 figures, owns a home, has custody of her kid and takes care of herself and vacations regularly. You just have to decide. ❤❤❤

What I love about this... As soon as she enters the stores, she is happy, calm, looks like any woman going shopping. Notice how the F word disappears and how the feet don't hurt all of a sudden? Mark wants Rebecca to be ok, so babies him/them. I say “him/them” because Rebecca is delusional, and I don’t believe they are truly trans, just using a persona to survive. I may be wrong, but I want to respect the label trans, without making it wishy washy. If Rebecca gets clean and still feels trans, I would call Rebecca “her”. But after watching all of Rebeccas vids, from the start, I don’t think it’s the case. Merely a crutch.

How is Rebecca so compelling? I’ve watched all of Mark’s videos featuring Rebecca. Also, I’ve read lots of negative comments about Mark; his methods, his supposed motivations, his tactics, etc. Mark is an acute observer of human behavior. That skill, combined with his indisputable photographic genius, documents a segment of our society that is nearly impossible to observe in any other way. Of course, Mark could chronicle the lives of these individuals in a more “traditional” documentary fashion. However, I doubt that such an approach would deliver such stunning results. Mark’s impressions of Rebecca are so subtle and nuanced; they could be missed by some. He makes it all look so easy. That ability, is the gold standard for excellence. Bravo, Mark!

I am hoping and praying that she gets clean and turns her life around. Yep! My son was one of those people, he was a homeless paranoid schizophrenic and over time his psychosis erased us from his mind. He needed forced treatment but that is close to nonexistent today. He died at the end of May from a combination of alcohol, cannabis, and Fentanyl.

Mark.. first of all you are an absolute angel on earth. Seriously. I love how you just want to love these people and help them when most people just walk past them as if they are invisible. You try to actually understand them and do what you can to give them a space to tell their stories. What an incredible person you must be.
I am quickly enamored with Rebecca.. just like you were when you first met her Mark. She has captured my heart and I am rooting for her! Coming from someone that was in active addiction for more years than I want to admit but has come out the other side and gotten my life back together, never lose faith in her. I’ve been in recovery for over 10 years now but it took me until I was 35 to finally WANT to be a better person! She can do it.. if I can do it, SHE CAN DO IT! 💪
