Ok so I usually try to keep my head down when it comes to youtube comments for reasons that should be obvious but as someone who slammed my head against gehrman for far longer than id like to admit I feel the need to mention a few things. 1. You can get a hunter badge in upper cathedral ward called the cosmic eye watcher badge that lets you buy bolt paper for blood echoes instead of insight, they are expensive but should let you stock up more easily (the badge is down a hallway behind at least one of the brain suckers)
2. Bolt paper is the largest damage type weakness ive found him to have so point 1 should be helpful
3. He has a tell in phase 3 when he's going to use his insta stagger shot, right before he does it he actually puts his weapon away and touches his gun, the shot doesnt track and moves relatively slowly so once you see the tell you can simply Dodge sideways until you get clear (he also has a slight recovery animation so he shouldn't just rush you right after he fires)
4. When he jumps up into the air in phase 3 you can Dodge the attack by dodging towards him (he makes invisible tornados that hurt a lot)
5. Gehrman stands still and holds his arms out twice, the first time he screams but does no damage and if you time it right you can backstab him, the second one he does the explosion and if you dont feel confident with it you can just back away and let him do his thing, otherwise you can rush in and try to get damage on him (in my opinion only advisable if you have him most of the way down already and can finish him off)
6. His true weakness is parrying, its not terribly easy all of the time but most of his attacks in all of his phases are parryable, also yes that scythe charge up (when he puts holds the scythe behind his back) just sometimes isnt parryable but sometimes is
Now a couple about farming blood echoes
7. If you drop the brain down into the pit in the nightmare you can use make contact in front of it, you have to wait until your arms change position (itll be obvious when that happens) you can get the teir three moon rune that gives you 30% more blood echoes (there is also a 10% one in hypogeon gaol near the lantern and between two of the bag men, and a 20% one at the bottom of the spiral staircase that you had to go up during the micolash fight to get to phase 2, also yes they stack)
8. The best place ive found to farm is from the bonfire right after the micolash fight (mergos loft middle I believe) go up past the Crow dogs and kill the three shadows of yharnam and then kill the 3 pigs (you can kill the first pig before the other 2 aggro and then aggro the third pig after the second one turns around) yes they hit like trucks but they also give a stupid amount of blood echoes (you can usually use the balcony that the first pig was next to to trap the other two then with a longer weapon you can pseudo cheese them, they can still hit you but its the safest way I've found)
9. You can also aggro one of the shadows of tharnam with a pebble to make fighting each of them a one on one fight, with a +10 weapon its a pretty seriously easy
If I think of more I will either edit this comment or comment below it, gehrman does have some absolute nonsense at his disposal but hopefully this information helps even the odds a bit while minimizing a loss of sanity

@@speedwaynutt well thank you, I know it ended up being a lot. I tried to keep it brief but when you start trying to explain bloodborne you basically have to write a novel to even scratch the surface.

Being ultra aggressive is the key to success in Bloodborne. It's tempting to keep your distance like in other FromSoftware titles, but getting into the face of bosses makes the game a lot easier IMO.

When I watch Dick and Ben play this it makes me glad I got it free on PS+ then quit before the first boss.
Only 4 trophies left just got the weapon relative one and on to defiled chalices 💀 time to relax with some babsborne
