I've done it with Telnet and the Cognex SDK but for some reason I'm having trouble using it through the CompactLogix PLC. I've followed Cognex instruction sheet to the letter and it just doesn't work. Thought you might ve had experience with it?

That's a good question. I'm not sure how long it takes, but I'm sure that you can figure it out with basic timers on the PLC. I would guess that it would take more time for a larger job to load, but once again, I don't know. I would recommend programming a routine that would check that the camera is back up and running once the job change is complete.
Sorry for the delayed response. There's no way to pull that string back in, but you could set a number in each job that would have to match. In other words, you could create an integer in your job that would return a specific ID of the job that's running. Verify based on that.
I haven't looked at the CLICK recently, but I believe that it wouldn't import the data as easily as the AB PLCs. I would probably just send digital Inputs/Outputs to the CLICK and use them for rejects. I don't think I'll be making a video on that anytime soon. Sorry.
How about get a status Ok / Not oK result from the present and absent Cognex 5100 with Control Logix ? Currently i am using digital signal for Ok and Not Ok but it seems the signal a little bit delayed. I need it to connect by the ethernet. Could you please share the config of the camera ?

Hey Mitchell, can you send me more info on the error (v.romanov@solisplc.com)? The only thing that comes to mind is that either your arrays aren't the same or the instruction isn't pointing to the right element.
After setting offline and using message instruction, what do you do to put it back in online mode? I am new to Cognex and am working on an application to change jobs using Insight 2000 series camera within RS logix 5000. Any help is appreciated
I'm not sure how he does it but I run this program as a step sequence where it latches it offline at the beginning and unlatches it at the end. It works for me.

I've got a Cognex class posted on Udemy that's not on the main website yet. I'm working on migrating it. It's not overly advanced, I'm primarily focused on showing how to get the camera configured, how to read values from it and how to do simple image processing.

I have been working on some projects as a PLC programmer in Mexico since 2 years ago aprox, but there are some gaps that I would like to cover on my learning of PLC since I dont have too much experience with VFDs and vision.

did you install the EDS file before you programmed it or you added the module as a generic ethernet module?
