  • Aaron Rodgers said that the New York Jets are one of 8-12 teams that can win the Super Bowl. Colin Cowherd and James Jones discuss if the Jets are Super Bowl contenders, as well as Trent Williams holding out on the San Francisco 49ers. Plus, the Green Bay Packers GM said that they need Jordan Love “as soon as we can." Colin and Jones ask if Love will be paid like a top QB in the NFL.

    I don’t get why everyone keeps saying Love was awful the first half of the season. The receivers were running the wrong routes every play early on. The o-line struggled at times as well. Was sacked 5 times in both Lions and Vikings game. But opener vs Bears he was solid. He was the reason GB made the 17 point 4th quarter comeback vs saints. The only game he really seemed to struggle in was the Vegas game.

    • @BOY_NAME_
      @BOY_NAME_ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yes and... Jones was out AND most penalty yards through the first 7 games or so. Jones made D scheming a nightmare. The team would have been 12 wins if Jones was healthy all year and there wasn't 400 yards of penalties in the early games.

    • @bradm4493
      @bradm4493 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@BOY_NAME_ yeah that’s true too. Injuries are something every team has to deal with, but when you’re talking THE veteran presence on such a young offense, it really hurts. Watson being injured is arguably just as big as Jones. Jones wasn’t active for the 2nd Detroit game nor the KC game but Watson was. Don’t think it was a coincidence that outside of the playoff win, GBs two most impressive wins of the season were Watsons two best games of the season. Then of course he got hurt again towards end of KC game and the following two games were ugly losses to the Giants and Bucs.

    Honestly Colin’s McCarthy take is spot tf on. If he was coaching the falcons he would be revered. But he’s coached two of the biggest brands in the nfl where the spotlight is always on & any mistake is magnified. Before you could say he was carried by Aaron and Favre but last year he elevated Dak to mvp votes, all pro, and 12 wins again. Is he top 5 in the league probably not but if on the market mike McCarthy would have multiple options of where he could coach next. And in todays offensive league where you want the coach to call plays he’s proven he can do that and elevate the quarterback

    The only downside with the strategy of drafting QBs and sitting them for three years is the team has to decide after only one season starting if they should pay him. Love you JJ. People don't realize Love was dealing with 4 rookies and two second year guys as weapons. They took awhile to gel in this complex offense. Love was outstanding game one vs. Chicago but the NFL always humbles you and the growing pains are real. That o-line sucked for nine games too. Lafleur proved he's a high level NFL coach. Love also had Musgrave, Watson and Jones down for big stretches of the season. Love has proven he's a winner and the Packers are absolutely loaded for the next few years. There is a certain feeling in this locker room, confidence, swagger and togetherness. They don't realize they aren't ready for this, they think they are. I think they are also, and the NFC better take notice.

    People are acting as if McCarthy is a bad coach, nobody is saying he is, what we’re saying is, if you go back to his last few years in Green Bay, his offenses were basic and didn’t strike fear into anyone, and since he took the Dallas job, his time has been marked by bad coaching management (clock management to be precise), penalties by the players and his lack of playoff success since 2016, which is nearly a decade if we’re being honest here. And I said it and I stand by that he should’ve been let go after the Green Bay loss in the playoffs because he got outclassed and out coached by a better team and coach. But with that being said, if he doesn’t go far in the playoffs this year, he has to go, period.

    TW has always been about the money. He blamed the Redskins for ignoring his health issue , but it was about the guaranteed money then and that's exactly what it's about now. Also it's hilarious TW wasn't considered the best LT in the league until he went to the 49ers even though he was in his prime and the best LT with the Redskins also .

    McCarthy is a good coach, but not great at surrounding himself with junior coaches who are good enough to go places. Great coaches have a litany of subordinates who are successful. It is not so much the greatness passed on as it is picking guys who can grow and be special. McCarthy was a really good coach offensively for the Packers, but they notoriously had bad special teams and mediocre overall defenses. Mike is a really good coach, but not the best leader, or evaluator of coaching talent.

      @@qaxcgyujm what about him he's still got year left after this year for 1 million so if niners choose they can extend him for let's say 60 million per year just so nobody can say he gonna be more, ok now he's at 301 million total for six years, that's 50 mil a year if they want to they can back load so even Brock is cheap for another few years the core players on this team are all going to be here for few more years yet.

    This argument of "making a mistake at a small company nobody cares, make it at a big company everyone cares" is actually nonsense. In large companies blame is obfuscated. When something goes wrong nobody ever shoulders the blame because we created a system where nobody is actually responsible for anything on their own. Large companies also typically have contingencies for mistakes and can weather them without much effort. However, in a small company you will find that 1 person tends to OWN an entire department. Something goes wrong and it's on you. Also, they can't afford those mistakes and therefore it hits the company in a massive way. So no, it's a terrible analogy. But what do you expect from Colin besides horrible takes and opinions.

    All the contract talk is so frustrating because these guys make it seem like they have to get paid one last time, just live a moderate lifestyle and one contract will take care of everything you need. After that, it’s nice to get paid a couple million a year, but you don’t need itand you’ve already set your family up so just go out and give team friendly deals so you guys can win Super Bowls. You don’t have to retire millionaire or a billionaire. And don’t get me wrong. I’m all for making as much money as physically possible but you also want to win championships so just make money off of those and investing in good things.
