I owned a backyard dirt oval with lights, timing,pa system and we had 20-30 racers in multiple classes a night and we had a blast. 1/10 Street stocks, sportsmen, super late models were our classes
I went to the chili bowl in January and stopped by to see the RC Chili Bowl as well on Friday. Just like you guys I was blown away with how technical it is and everything that goes into it and the rigs some of these guys have. It’s badass for sure
Love dirt oval, I won the 2003 dirt oval points championship at Cooper's RC fastest track on the East coast in Calonds VA, I like off road a little better, I won around 30 trophies on off road tracks, Very fun and competitive.
RC dirt racing is an absolute blast. I have raced 1/10 scale street stock, late model, and sprint cars. So much fun. You can even get tires with tread patterns like the real thing!!!
The Barn is such a fantastic place to race! If you wanna get into RC racing but get sticker shock from the 5th scale prices, they also run 10th scale cars that are much cheaper and simpler! Ronnie (the man maintaining the track) and Brian put on the best, most family friendly environment in RC racing in Ohio! Go check them out!
Chris Wall has built one of the finest tracks in the country for these cars, right up the road. A friend has been building bodies until his shop burned, but will be back at it when the new shop is done.
I raced the 1/4 scale winged outlaw dirt sprints.. we also had dirt stock cars.. I would spend a week just tuning one shock. Got a house full of trophies and champ plaques. Track was about 2x that size.
Liked and subscribed nice race coverage. I have a Rc dirt oval track on my property So much fun Done real motorsports in the past and in my opinion hard to beat RC'S for dollars spent VS driving time. Plus I can afford to have multiple vehicles drag car, basher, speed run, rock crawler. Whatever motorsports you like it's out there.
what it really comes down to is the cost of living and business in the area, the only joint that is close enough to me (but its a 3 hour drive) is trains and lanes in easton they mostly run 1/10th scale truck and 1/8 scale buggy as well as truggy. I only get to go out there mabe 3x a month seeing that it costs me 100 bucks in gas to get there. because i dont feel like going home because i broke something on lap 1 i just buy everything there its about a 3-5$ markup but im willing to pay that. i agree we need more rc tracks i have plans to contribute so i will be buliding a backyard track when i move
To get into 1/5 scale its gonna cost as much as buying a kart. You'll save money on tires and engines unless you run open, yes an open engine in 5th scale can run a couple grand.
@@brandonbender5769 yes that engine is the stock class spec engine. The rest I'm gonna say it depends on the competition you face in open. Greystone is the local track here, the KSG guys and Ottinger plus others are a pretty good wheel
I think that tracks a little bit too small it needs just a little bit more room on the straight away. Needs to be a longer track not a whole heck of a lot longer but enough that they can gain some speed before the corner.
Rovan 5b, I knew just from tires, chassis and exhaust sound, dirt cheap massive 5th scale I have the 32cc one hell of a beast, can take a beating best $475 ever 1 tank about a hr full rip
I confess, I just don't understand this hobby. Those things must be pretty expensive. Wouldn't you rather spend that money on karting, and get to actually ride along? I know I would.

Track should be bigger for that scale but RC fun is RC fun. Nice demo!
If you are every in Iowa, check out Dead End Raceway in Blairsburg Iowa. They run the late models, sprints, and modifieds. Very nice track.
I have a 1/5 RC late model but nowhere here in Texas to really race but i did build my own track and it is fun!

RC racing comes in many forms I like watching crawler comps there are so many types. I recommend looking up others around there.

i feel like 1/5 scale is cheaper in the long run. the entry barrier for 1/5 is more expensive though
