Hi, I searched for this yarn and I seen on Ebay 1and other places but there 300gr ball or chunky etc I did not find yet 100gr dk or aran velvet yarn. You can try there sc and tr stitches. but if you have different not aran yarn then hat can be too big. You have to make chain what fit around head.

I also like tight hats and headbands etc I crocheting very tight as well, but lots of people making bigger loops then I do and hat becomes bigger and it is absolutely normal, we are different, never will be the same also if different yarn hat can be bigger etc. So best think to do for all your projects if too big came out just use smaller crochet hook. 4.5mm or 4mm. I actually like to use smaller hooks for most my patterns then work looks more accurate.
@@ginaletendre1767 You can add yarn there where grey 1st round and you can make fp single and bp single crochet round with 4.00mm hook then will be more tight around head but if all hat too big then sad :( make this round from right side. add yarn make ch 1 and make fpsc and bpsc ....

or you need less chain here can make any size. Make a chain what fit tight around head.
