Gear 5 is PEAK!!! 🔥🔥🥁🥁 It's the perfect power up for Luffy and one of the best power up. Gear 5 fits Luffy's personality! From the very beginning in episode 1, Luffy is always been goofy. It makes sense that gear 5 is gonna be like that, cartoony
the looney tunes style was shocking for me when i read the manga. at first i was disappointed, but then I realized that this awakening captures Luffy's character perfectly. And amenz, you're right about how the fruit meshes well with the liberation theme. he's the freest in the sea now. anything luffy thinks he can do, he will do, and that's why it's so dangerous. it's all up to his imagination, and he's always been an imaginative fighter. all the gears prior make much more sense now too. just being rubber wouldn't allow luffy to create those forms haha.

@@keithgraham8588 Not really there is a lot of valid criticism. The reused animation one is obvious, they shouldnt have to reuse the same animation 2 times. Another big one is the heavy recap at the end but thats just a Toei thing at this point. Last actual valid criticism is when Luffy bounced back the blast breath, a lot of people were confused as to what was actually going on due to the art style and speed of everything

Lycan made a rlly good point about Luffys forms being based on animals, his gear 4 and gear 5 forms do sorta represent animals, and Oda used foreshadowing with the animals that luffy was friends with on the island he trained on with Rayleigh. Gorilla (bounce man) alligator (snake man) lion (gear 5, sun god nika) it’s insane the amount of small details Oda has put into the story since the beginning.

Yeah,Luffy calls it gears to give it a name but he accidently discovered the speed and polymorphic abilities of his devilfruit by experimenting Nikka is one of the "old ones" that could erase and recreate all of existance including every version of Omnisama 50x before anyone blinks just as a prank.......fortunately his near insanity and being imprisoned in a green mask makes it wear he just wants to screw around and have fun (sometimes violently) before the user gets control of themselves .....the users personality heavily effects Nikka (like how Ibcus was less violent then Tyrrell) On the upside Luffy hasn't sung Cuban Pete(yet) or flushed anyone down a toiler to nowhere(yet)
It really gives you a mix of emotions. I myself was like do I really like this or not BUT upon seeing all the craziness that this power could do I was like "he could do this", "he could do that" etc etc. and he literally did just that in some more couple of episodes and even in the latest chapters of manga. What sold me tho is that it seems like it's not a PURE toon force, it's like toon force that is grounded to how much he can manipulate rubber so far be it his body and the environment.

Like how Chopper be changing. Only Zoan types can transform, hence when this was revealed, the game changes. The manga readers knew the colour of Luffy in the next episode/chapter. It was a 1 episode to 1 chapter, Hiyori’s scene and the reaction of the others were all in the same chapter.
When I thought about it Zoan types typically transforms in order to show their power, but sometimes they do constantly embody the animal they have like Chopper. Chopper most of the time look like a human kid, so Luffy looks like he has Paramecia cuz he's constantly rubber. The Zoan transformation is actually the Gears, but he cant transform fully at first. So G2 would be heart transformation where his Heart pumps blood really fast, G3 would be bones transformation where he can inflate his bones, G4 would be muscle transformation where he enhances his muscles, and lastly G5 would be the total transformation in to a full Zoan animal, in his case human mythical zoan: Nika.
You're forgetting that Kaido himself is a mythical Zoan, as well as Yamato, and Orochi (Orochi's is a pretty lame mythical tho, tbh). We've had a good few mythical zoans in the show up to this point. I just think they've been hiding the importance of them until this phase, when their qualities would be best revealed near Luffy's transformation.
So Going Back to the end of Dressrosa, Remember how Fujitora wanted to see Luffy's Smile? Now we get the confirmation that his fruit has the passive ability to bring Smiles to people, including us in the real world!!!

The manga readers knew the colour of Luffy in the next episode/chapter. It was a 1 episode to 1 chapter, Hiyori’s scene and the reaction of the others were all in the same chapter.

When I thought about it Zoan types typically transforms in order to show their power, but sometimes they do constantly embody the animal they have like Chopper. Chopper most of the time look like a human kid, so Luffy looks like he has Paramecia cuz he's constantly rubber. The Zoan transformation is actually the Gears, but he cant transform fully at first. So G2 would be heart transformation where his Heart pumps blood really fast, G3 would be bones transformation where he can inflate his bones, G4 would be muscle transformation where he enhances his muscles, and lastly G5 would be the total transformation in to a full Zoan animal, in his case human mythical zoan: Nika.

You're forgetting that Kaido himself is a mythical Zoan, as well as Yamato, and Orochi (Orochi's is a pretty lame mythical tho, tbh). We've had a good few mythical zoans in the show up to this point. I just think they've been hiding the importance of them until this phase, when their qualities would be best revealed near Luffy's transformation.
