Hi Johnathan!, I just want to say thank you for you're amazing videos that have spurred my curiosity for the world's oceans for many years now. Yesterday I committed to studying Marine Biology at the University of Washington and your videos were/are a huge part of why I'm inspired to study the oceans. Thank you!
I'm not interested in diving at all, and if I ever go diving it's only for the experience, but Johnathan has taught me since I was young to be curious, and that adventure is the fun of life! I thank him greatly for that.
Great to see Joelle's journey into diving. It's a bit scary for some but that's often a normal part of that. Knowledge and experience is power to overcome this. Fabulous video.
Awesome! Looked like Joelle had a great time throughout her diving journey. Its definitely a great feeling being able to inspire others to enjoy diving, too.
It always feels great when someone takes courage to learn to dive. Congratulations, Joelle! Don't give up! Plus, I liked that comment of Jonathan when he said that who would eat such a cute living thing.
Has to be one of the most unique videos you guys have done! To be the final push for someon to get certified, and a celebrity too no less, is pretty incredible & must be a cool feeling! I can see why youre all fans of hers.. she seems like a very down to earth, cool, happy, humble woman. A cool bookmark in Blue Worlds history!
BW- what a great segment. !!It’s great to see new people discover this wonderful sport. So real, we’ve all been there with mask / epuip issues, and overcoming these little snags,, oh yeah ,, buoyancy, I didn’t really get that until I had cavern training, equip mods, bla bla. Really this is super inspirational for many people. You are responsible with this vid,, and so many others of really showing everyone the joys of this sport , you touch a lot of lives. Even my son and I who cave dive here in Florida watch each and every segment. And many of them multiple times. Again, Cheers from Tampa Florida!!! ( the cape cod guy who lives here now )
I really liked your video. You combined Hollywood glamour with Nature, Science and Technology. The result was just pure charm, knowledge and adventure. I think you might have another Steve Irwin in the making. Looking forward to more episodes.
Love to see someone else do something we love. On another note...Jonathan I know a few years ago i commented on a video saying I was getting my cert, well it didn't happen that year but I am proud to say I got certified last September up here in the st Lawrence
Loved the video.I was diving with Ocean Frontiers in Cayman and absolutely loved it. I live and dive in Cozumel to escape our Canadian winters. Thanks for sharing.
Your videos got me into scuba when I was younger and now they have inspired me to learn to cave dive. I’m starting training with Edd Sorenson in a few weeks!
Hello ! I just discovered your channel and your content seems pretty interesting ! I always wanted to see REAL UNDERWATER ADVENTURES and attempts to solve oceans mysteries ! So can I ask a question ? I don't know, but can you make a video in which your group and you try to solve (even a little) the mystery of the BALTIC SEA ANOMALY ? I really want to know more about this ! I am sure that is gonna be an entertaining and exciting video admired by many ! Thank you!
I have a bit of a messed up back too. (Writing from the couch where I'm currently rehabilitating from pulling a muscle in my back yesterday). I find my back feels better after diving. Food for thought.
@BlueWorldTV interesting, I figured with the air tank on your back it'd be a little more uncomfortable with a messed up back. I'll have to talk to my Dr when I see him at the end of the month. Thank You for the insight very much appreciated
the intro 😂 I hit Like but wanted to hit Love 😍 Hey Jonathan, at 14:40 when Christine is filming the Grouper, does she have a leak in that 1st stage at the o-ring?
There are actually two different size bubbles coming out of Christine's first stage. The really tiny "fizzy" ones are supposed to be there. That's the Sherwood "air bleed" system that allows the high pressure piston to work without getting seawater inside. The bigger bubbles are from a nick in the O-ring on the tank valve. It's annoying but doesn't leak enough air to make much difference.

Hey Jonathan (or anyone in the comments).....do you know of any tethers designed specially to tether a dive mask to a BCD/for underwater use? I was thinking a retractable tether instead of a sting/rope as it would allow for head movement whilst still keeping any snag hazards to a minimum.
@Navy1977 in case it falls off! In a pool it’s not an issue or even when the max depth is 20m but when you’re only certified to dive to 20m and the max depth is greater then that you can loose your mask very easily if it falls or is kicked off. Yes you can just ascend to the surface but you still have to do the decompression stops and if you can’t see due to not having your mask I’d imagine that would be quite daunting. Having your mask tethered means you’re not going to loose it and even if it does come completely off you still know where it is.
@Navy1977 humans nature’s biggest flaw is thinking it will never happen to me! The fact the make us remove our mask and empty the water out says a it’s a real thing that can happen. Whilst I’ve never seen it happen I’ve dived with people who had had their mask kicked off in past dives…..key point been it was kicked off and it didn’t just fall off so maintaining space is one way to prevent it being kicked off but not everyone is an expert at buoyancy control or has good special awareness. I myself have had dives get a little too close for comfort in the past despite trying to maintain distance. You also have to consider how people act when they stress out and despite how comfortable and experienced you may be if there’s an issue there’s still a chance you’ll freak out thrashing around in the water or grabbing onto other divers.
Imagine one day they wear special diving gear so that they can go really, REALLY deep into the ocean but then they find random barrels with nuclear waste in them and then GODZILLA comes out of no where💀

Scuba diving sure is fun!it's like entering another world full of wonders!
Cave diving was like uncovering another dimension full of mysteries!
It sounds fun to me, too!

That drop-off is insane. From 25 feet below sea level to 6000 feet?! Imagine a cliff face that tall above the water!

Be the Tarpin, beautiful shot hahaha!
That vis ❤
I know right!!
Hope to see more collabs!
Amazing!
Spent a week at LCBR- best diving in the Caribbean. Somewhere in that bar we made our driftwood sign with a makeshift Seattle Space needle on it.
Oh I saw that!!!
@@BlueWorldTV wow! That was over 10 years ago.
awesome video
Thanks!
I hope to see this healthy and amazing coral reef off the coast of Grand Cayman. Maybe with a Glass Bottom Boat.
Such a shame about the stony coral disease which has affected hard corals in the Caribbbean, including Cayman.
I Love it.
Wish i didn't have a messed up back, would love to dive. My brother absolutely loves it

I’m already learning how to dive my dads getting certified so I could be safe while diving

Joelle Carter is scuba diving
Jonathan Bird, do you know any actors that have scuba for when working on an acting scene movie or show that requires them to have to scuba dive?
Love me some Jonathan's Blue World, but he's a bit of a Looney Tune 🙂
One of the first stages was leaking on a divers during the nurse shark clip!
That happens!
Hi Johnathan! Remember me?
I am doing a DSD this summer. Any tips?
Breathe!
@@BlueWorldTV shocker.

How in the world did you spot that sea slug ? 😮🤯
Things like that just pop out at me.
Jonathan, do you like The Shield FX series?
I haven't seen it.

“It’s an animal running on internal plant power” so the slug is a vegan?
Are you the actress from Final Jeopardy?
Yes, Joelle was in the 2001 movie Final Jeopardy.

You got a movie there!
How come your kids aren't with you as you're diving with Joelle Carter, as Christine. I've seen her movie The Horse Whisperer.
Kids had school, had to stay home!
I have seen your old videos swimming with whales but can pls swim with blue whal
